About a year or so ago, The Free Press had an article where they interviewed several green card holders who have been here for a while, one as long as thirty years. As for Ag jobs, around here, there are dairy farms that are using robotics to milk their cows. Given time, AI, robotics, we will not need illegals for any labor.

He said that he occasionally gets Americans coming by looking for work and he often hires them. He also said they usually leave for a lunch break on the first day and then never come back.

I was dismayed and frankly shocked when we were having a discussion at our church regarding illegal immigration (I was simply listening because it would be unwise of me to identify as a Republican) when this very argument was made. The people involved were all upper middle class individuals who could well afford to pay fairly for services rendered. I did speak up to point out their mindset is reminiscent of the Jim Crow Laws that focused on segregation as a way to maintain the economic advantages and superior social status of white people in the South.

3. Show a study that estimates the cost of providing a fair wage based on National averages with benefits as provided for American jobs who Americans “do” want to perform, and the cost to the end consumer thereafter.

Suggest that the employers of such corporate farms utilizing illegal aliens for substandard pay and questionable safety of the employees, actually pay a salary and ensure safety and health measures, which would otherwise perhaps make such jobs attractive to American workers, presuming that the answer to (1) above reveals that it is true, Americans just don’t want to work for substandard pay and benefits.
