While universities have largely purged their faculty ranks of conservatives, there often seems to be no academic who is too far left for hiring committees. The latest example is University of Chicago Assistant Professor and Director of Graduate Studies Eman Abdelhadi, who used her appearance at the Socialism 2025 conference to denounce UChicago as “evil” and a “colonialist” institution. (For full disclosure, I graduated from UChicago as an undergraduate).
Keep in mind that the faculty decided that Abdelhadi was worthy not only of a faculty position in the Department of Comparative Human Development, but then made her the Director of Graduate Studies.
Abdelhadi gave a raving presentation at the socialist conference, denouncing UChicago. She punctuated her unhinged comments with profanity:
“F— the University of Chicago, it’s evil, you know it’s a colonial landlord. Like, why would I put any of my political energy into this space? I kind of had a little bit of disdain for people who spent their time doing that…”This is a painful lesson that a lot of us in the Palestine solidarity movement have been learning is that we don’t have power… what we don’t have is power… the question I’m asking myself, and I’m asking you to ask yourself, ‘is where can I actually build power?’”
She went on to explain that it was really not an academic but an activist calling that brought her to UChicago:
“Turns out, I work at one of the biggest employers in the city of Chicago. I work at a place that is a landlord, a healthcare provider, a police force, f–k that s–t, but, they are, and a place where I have access to thousands of people that I could potentially organize… actually, this is where I need to build power. That’s possible structural leverage.”
This is the person that the Department of Comparative Human Development thought was ideal for teaching UChicago students. At the same time, any applicant who is right of center often faces withering opposition or criticism that their perspective is not “intellectually rigorous.”
Abdelhadi is part of what I have referred to as the “radical chic” of academia. I do not believe for a second that she hid her radical views from the faculty. Indeed, those views were likely the draw for many of her colleagues. There is little interest in an ideological balance as opposed to replicating the political and social views of the faculty.
What is most striking is that Abdelhadi views UChicago as “evil” and “colonialist” but still wants to continue to teach and serve as an administrator at the school. It is not apparently for the intellectual appeal, but to “organize” and “leverage” within that evil, colonialist institution. Again, she is the director of Graduate Studies.
I am a U of C Law School grad, the first to get credit for courses taken across the midway at the School of Business. This is pathetic, but I suspect the U of C is a lot more open to other opinions than some other schools. Sad, though.
He who controls the present controls the past. He who controls the past controls the future. – G Orwell
Before you can begin even talking about treatment strategies you must make sure that you absolutely control the present. And right now that means the House of Representatives. For better or worse your party that represents more conservative viewpoints than not is the Republican party. It only has a slim 2 vote majority and could very well lose that majority if people do not focus on the fact that we must retain control of the present. To do that we have to make sure the Republicans get 25 or 30 seats in 2026. Nothing else means anything if we lose that majority.
Also go read the Constitution Article 5 which outlines how the states can call for a Convention of states. This is a different way to propose amendments to our Constitution. 34 state legislatures must pass a resolution to call a convention of States. So far 20 states have done so.
Thank you, President Trump, it’s going to be a huge hill to climb, but only people like you with a vision can do it:
“A group of brave Islamic religious leaders from France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Italy and Britain who are visiting Israel this week are being condemned and ridiculed by many Muslims. The leaders are being accused of “treason” and promoting “normalization” with Israel.”
At https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/21735/muslim-leaders-who-oppose-terrorism one can read the rest. Too many Muslims see this as an abandonment of faith. A short example: “Lebanese businessman Rida Saad described the imams as “spies, sons of dogs, traitors and whores.”
Another: Fadel Soliman, a Muslim Quran translator and author with more than half a million followers on X, commented:
“Today, the president of Israel met in the occupied city of Jerusalem with a delegation of misguided imams and the vilest of God’s creation… Anyone who sees them would spit on them, for they are more despicable than prostitutes who sell their honor on street corners.”
No different in substance than the Democrat Party here: DNC chair is fine with Mamdami supporting wiping out the Jews because “big tent” blah blah blah.

The NEAhas cut ties with the ADL and has embraced the Hamas…er, Palestinian lobby as well.
In America today, the Left is where antisemitism is alive and well – and growing. The Democrat Party is where the new Nazism is breeding.
Republicans don’t engage the public as effectively as Democrats. Education starts at the school board level and with teachers, yet almost all the activism I see comes from Democrats. Do you see the same thing?
It’ll boomarang
Isn’t it about time to pause this great experiment of ours and examine the results? We might discover that we protected actions, under the color of rights, that were trying to make this experiment fail. Strip them completely out of the experiment and then restart.
Actually the idea of trespass onto person and property is anathema.
Really tired of kill the Jewish people. Really tired of people in my doctors office. Tired of screeching maniacs utterly without restraint.
Government can build the roads and dams, deliver mail, build sensible roads with longitude and latitude, protect borders from incursions and leave me alone. Guard against murderers and thieves and trespassers of all these things and protect the people from those people having guile.
Guile, now there’s a word.
Peace
Well said.
*. I said something well? Your comment has to be out of order but thanks anyway.
Someone else told me today a truck hit me and caused a head injury.
Only when parents stop spending their hard-earned money to have their children educated at political madrassas, will the focus in universities shift away from radical extremism, soft science, and busywork degrees, and back to rigorous education.
Right ON !!!
“… I’m asking you to ask yourself, ‘is where can I actually build power?’”
If Might is on the side of Right, then you build Power through the use of War.
You need a Victim and an Aggressor, with that you can make Endless War.
It’s a simple formula, anyone can do it. It’s the War Machines that Benefits (Wins).
Thus, You want Power, get on the side that Wins.
I rarely am shocked these days by people, but the following video, showing how multiple muscular, built like a brick house, ICE Officers are attacked, corralled and backed into a wall of a building on a street, and then it continues onto the street, is truly shocking and upsetting. Pure evil. I dont understand why ICE Officers dont shoot these paid rent-a-mob ANTIFA actors given their lives are in harms way. Just shocking. The screaming that goes on continuously in the video is on purpose to create chaos. These are paid actors descending on our law enforcement people. It has to be stopped now. Period. Democrats must be stopped and it is approaching by any means necessary because they clearly have lost respect for the law and LEO.

Lock doors. Presume double set. Secure back entrance. Launch tear gas. Launch firehoses. Arrest. Open doors and proceed. Ask how to secure, fed police
Estovir, this is the same human shielding seen in Israel. Terrorists position themselves around the vulnerable women and children, preventing the IDF from shooting the terrorists and protecting themselves.
I was not aware. Thanks for pointing that out to me. So the Hamas terrorists and the Democrats think alike. Good to know. Notice how they cover their faces. Notice too how Democrats say nothing about the latter but feign outrage about ICE using face coverings
Harkens back to Turley’s article, “Have You Tried Gasoline?”: Democrats Admit Followers are Embracing Violent Rhetoric” — They [extremist -democrats] NEED a shooting, they WANT a shooting. With plenty of expendable “useful idiots,” all the instigators, the Jeffries, the AOC’s, the Mamdanis, the Jayapals, Abdelhadis want an incident, a dead body, an outrage, to kick-off the “civil war” they’ve been vaunting for years now.
The sheer bravery and restraint on the part of ICE Agents is exemplary, beyond commendable. While they are within their rights to self-defense, they must maintain that RESTRAINT—we can’t give them any high-ground.
—we can’t give THEM [that is, faux-progressives, extreme-leftists, Socialist-shills, Marxist-democrats] any high-ground.
Their true colors are shining through. These are acts of treason and domestic terrorism. They should be treated as such.
Now they are saying out loud what they have been thinking all along.
Every single one of them needs to be arrested and charged with assault on a federal law enforcement officer, impeding the duties of an arrest. They need to be convicted and made to pay.
The cities that are allowing this are fomenting insurrection. These are the seeds of a civil war. The Federal government supersedes any state or local law.

“The murky life and death of Robert Maxwell – and how it shaped his daughter Ghislaine”
“Was it murder? Suicide? Or just an accident? Almost 30 years before Jeffrey Epstein’s demise, Ghislaine Maxwell was caught up in another shocking and scandal-ridden mystery”
“At one time, everyone knew where to find Ghislaine Maxwell. The former aide-de-camp of the disgraced, now deceased, billionaire Jeffrey Epstein was a fixture in Manhattan’s most fashionable salons. With an impressive list of contacts, including Prince Andrew and Chelsea Clinton, she was a regular at fundraisers, book launches and society weddings. The last place anyone would have expected to see her was a Los Angeles shopping mall, where the 57-year-old was photographed in a burger joint last week, just days after Epstein’s suicide in a New York jail, where he was being held on charges of sex trafficking underage girls. Amid some speculation as to whether the photograph may have been staged, and with mystery still surrounding her whereabouts, one thing is undeniable: for the second time, Ghislaine’s life has been turned upside down by the death of a controversial and powerful man. It is almost 30 years since her father, the press baron Robert Maxwell, fell to his death from his £15m yacht, Lady Ghislaine, off the Canary Islands, aged 68. Even now there is talk of suicide, or murder – perhaps by Mossad, the Israeli intelligence service. “He was a man who could not face the ignominy of jail, of being shown to be a liar and a thief. And he very much knew that was coming,” says Roy Greenslade, a former editor of one of Maxwell’s newspapers, the Daily Mirror. “So I am a suicide theorist. I believe Maxwell threw himself off.”
“His death on 5 November 1991 shocked the country. Shock turned to anger within weeks when a £460m hole was discovered in the pension funds of his companies. A borrower of unimaginable scale, he had illegally raided the funds to prop up his empire, which was on the brink of collapse. Headlines such as The Man Who Saved the Mirror were swiftly replaced by Maxwell: The Robber.”
“Throughout his life, he was a good friend to Israel, investing heavily in publishing, pharmaceutical and computer firms in the country. He met accusations he was an Israeli spy with furious denials and legal threats. Such speculation was fanned again after his death, when he was accorded almost a state funeral in Israel, attended by the prime minister, Yitzhak Shamir, and the president, Chaim Herzog, and buried in Jerusalem on the Mount of Olives. Conspiracy theorists have claimed that Mossad killed him because Israel refused him a loan and he threatened to retaliate.”

Yes, the compare and contrast of Socrates and yabazabba is right on. 😏

“DISCORDANT INTERMIXTURE”

Second try:
Professor Turley, she is just the graduate studies director for her little department.
Are you deaf-dumb-and-blind, DBB?
Thousands of students go through “little departments” every year, especially if the “little department” has popular professors, representing the Marxist-avant-garde (Turley calls them the “radical chic”). In addition, a graduate studies director also has the power to literally-“direct”/influence paths of study….
Take any an all extreme-leftist ideologues in academia very seriously, people.
Nice attempt to minimize the mental poison that she represents.
Just a little bit of Marxism, it’s ok
Just a little bit of Drano, it’s ok
A Little Bit Pregnant
And that makes it soooo much better.
It’s sad that she thinks this is some kind of winning argument.
*. The Jewish people in the United States have lived here quite well for many years and as contributors to the culture.
It’s odd that the islamic group, recent
immigrants, have caused such mayhem and trouble. It wasn’t a positive addition and was brought in by Buraq.
“. . . her little department.”
That “little department” has been at U Chicago for 75 years, and has 17 faculty plus 14 associated faculty. Its grads (ugrad and grad) work in industry, as consultants, in education, politics, academia. Where they spread her noxious ideology.
When you minimize evil, you endorse it.
Speaking to the Tri-State Area Folks (Illinois/Indiana/Michigan)
You have to admit that when you drop off the Skyway (Indiana Tollway) on the Stony Island Avenue exit, you’re in UofC Territory and for years and years the place has been the Slum City of UofC. It puts Gary Indiana to shame. Some of that’s part of the City’s fault and the State’s bungling with the Urban Renewal of the South Side. But the University is a large Land Holder of the area.
That said, it’s know wonder that bereaved residents take to wailing against the University. Ms. Eman Abdelhadi’s cause-to-fight is a larger problem called a Rentier Economy. It is the same in a lot University Locations (Berkeley, East Palo Alto, Boston, Ann Arbor, ….) America’s Struggling Class is Struggling ever harder, and it doesn’t appear to getting any better. If Bloomberg, the WSJ, Forbes, the price of Gold, etc. … are any indication, it is going to get worse.
If she can ‘B_ _ _ h ☹ about it and keep her Job’, more power to her. The point of her missive (Quoted in the Post) boils down to is that She feels helpless like Don Quixote taking aim at the Windmill of Rentier Economics.
Stony Island (UofC) is no Fantasy Island, that’s for sure, but the bottom line is We are all in this Economic Boat together, whether or not it floats or sinks.
Better use of Dollars, like utilizing DOGE techniques could help the University, the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois, to better aim the funds on the real problems.
There are a lot of Infrastructural Problems there (Neighborhoods need Urban Renewal).
Large research universities tend to develop student slums that surround the campus. Those slums can be vast and unpleasant to anyone who cares about property values. But the fact of the matter is students are there for a few years, and then they leave. They have little interest in improving the housing stock, and even less money to invest toward that cause even if they were inclined.
If her point was that there is something structurally fixable about that situation, then she should stick to that topic and not throw in her garbage quotes promoting communism (talking about “colonialism”) and Jew-hating (under the guise of “pro-Palestinian”), both of which are all the rage among leftists these days. Speakers like her need to present their case in a focused way without muddying it with other crazy things. To do so, they need some emotional maturity, which this lady doesn’t have.
“This lady” fits ALL the negative depictions of “pomp and circumstance” : selfish, ostentatious and overbearing.
University of Chicago is where the great philosopher and thinker Mortimer Adler taught his Great Books Series of classes and now they have devolved to this level of discourse. He once had a series on PBS (when they weren’t as demented as they are now) regarding the great books and I am sure that in today’s climate he would be tossed from the faculty for using so many western thinkers in his classes.
Please Google Mortimer Adler and then try to imagine him giving a speech loaded with the language, jargon and insanity of this new HEAD OF GRADUATE STUDIES. It is a good microcosm of how far the universities and even our poor country have fallen.
So bottom line, she’s demon possessed and for U of C that is a feature not a bug.
In other news, the judicial insurrection continues apace, with the SCOTUS loophole big enough to drive a semi through:
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/judge-blocks-trumps-order-restricting-birthright-citizenship-rcna217996
Notice NBC’s prolific use of the word “babies” which they would never do in a story about killing them in the womb.
Kansas, the use of the word babies in the NBC article, BUT NOT when referring to the unborn, was a great pickup. That kind of selective language captures the duplicitous nature of the left. Onward with that same duplicity: you pointed out the “judicial insurrection,” the classic claim, I’m only doing what the law permits.
Balaam of the Torah did the same. He said only what God allowed, yet later we find that his actions led directly to the seduction and downfall of the Israelites. Like Balaam, the judge becomes a model of duplicitous authority, exploiting the surface of the law to deliver an outcome he had no right to impose.
Thanks, Meyer. NBC is transparently trying to manipulate with the overuse of “babies.” Interesting comparison of Balaam to the jurists involved in this judicial insurrection. That had not occurred to me. Balaam’s error is treated throughout Old and New Testaments. In my view it is a microcosm to the controversy or contest raging between God and the forces of evil throughout all of human and redemptive history. See, e.g.:
https://www.simplybible.com/f416-2pet-the-error-of-balaam.htm
Yours as always,
Uncle Henry
Thanks, and thank you for the link.
Let’s get back to government funding of universities. If it is not already written, it should be, that any university who employs professors who openly undermine the very foundations of our government and disrespected in the classroom, need to be removed immediately. From what I’ve read here, this is not a freedom of speech issue on its face. It is deliberate act to undermine and destabilize.
There used to be laws against people like this in the United States. They have no good intentions and they need to leave.
As Abdelhadi herself says, a teaching/instructing position represents “a place where I have access to thousands of people that I could potentially organize… actually, this is where I need to build power. That’s possible structural leverage.”
Leverage. Access. Power.
In reality, subtle infiltration. Captive susceptible audiences. Silencing of opposing views. Stranglehold.
Perhaps college matriculation procedures could be used: encourage students to respectfully speak out when presented with material that represents and/or promotes political/social ideology. A simple “I would like to hear the other side of that view…” is a good start. If a major subject is involved, student-chosen guest speakers with an opposing presentation is another.
If our goal is to educate youth in discernment and critical thinking, we cannot get there without exposing them to opposing or more comprehensive views-from persons NOT of the professor’s choosing.
God help us!
Once again the usual suspects here wail that this yet another plate of red meat for conservatives. The truth is we’ve had 10+ years of servings and the menu has become stale. Leftists, Communists, Marxists, Socialists, Progressives, Islamists, whatever. Yeah, they exist. They’re here inside our country and in every institution. Got it.
I’m interested in what can be done about them. The best analogy I’ve seen is they are like a cancer. When my father told us the news his 40 year history of smoking Pall Malls has led to stage 4 lung cancer, we were surprised he was accepted at MD Anderson as a virtual guinea pig, while simultaneously vowing to keep smoking. I’ve already got cancer. he said.
This country has stage 4 cancer. The symptoms were well known. We were warned. But here we are. We know what it is, what it will do, where it is, how it got here, how it will spread. Hell, it’s screaming out, I’m right here!. AND, the best news of all is it can be put into remission.
So enough with the obvious, JT. Let’s discuss treatment strategies.
OLLY,
Well, first we need to point out the failed Democrat policies, again, and again, and again. We need to point out the failed Biden admin. All the on-going investigations, we need to support them and when evidence comes to light, we need to point those out.
We need to get more school choice on the books, homeschooling, get indoctrination out of K-12 education. See this, Largest US teachers union, the NEA, encourages resistance to ‘Trump’s embrace of fascism’
https://justthenews.com/nation/states/center-square/largest-us-teachers-union-encourages-resistance-trump
Continue the fight against DEI and adopt MEI (merit, excellence, and innovation) as Indiana just recently did.
Establish an paid internship where the intern learns the profession and after a period of time, gets accredited equal to a four year degree. The intern getting paid, not as much as a full time professional but more than minimum wage. The intern does not go into college debt. The intern does not have to pay for unrelated classes or mandatory DEI classes. The intern does not get subjugated to leftists indoctrination.
Continue to support rule of law and point out Democrat lawlessness.
Support voter ID.
Beat Democrats at the ballot box.
Continue to let Democrats to fail on all policies.
How is that for a start?
Upstate, while I certainly agree with all of your suggestions, I would argue we are already doing or trying to do all of that. And yet the cancer spreads. In keeping the cancer diagnosis theme going, I know from experience that it’s not enough to radically alter the behaviors that led to getting cancer in the first place. This cancer that is in our body (politic) survives by exploiting weaknesses in our constitutional systems. Those things you suggested will strengthen our immunity, but like with physical cancer, we are very likely going to need to attack the cancer by doing things to our body that we wouldn’t do if we were healthy. This means we need to radically alter our beliefs regarding who or what is protected by our constitution. I propose we stop securing the rights of anything identified as a cancer to our body politic and constitutional order.
You talk my kind of talk, Olly. Trump has been right to use the language of total war and the use of laws from back when we were a sane republic in dealing with the illegal alien scourge. I propose we extend that thinking into other areas, such as this one.
Observant, I’ve been following JT’s blog for 14+ years and for most of that time I rigorously participated in these discussions. I’ve learned many things in that time, but for about 2 years now I’ve come to realize this cancer is not going away using the same constitutional system that enabled it to invade us.
..it wasn’t the ‘Constitutional System’ that was responsible.. it was the Abuse of that system.. primarily by a slick ‘chief executive’ who made it his mission to bend the rules and open the floodgates to bring in as many Muslims as possible, by any means.. flying Muslims in (both directly & indirectly, both openly & secretly, and in many cases putting them up in housing with allowances.. (long before the Southern Border Invasion…) operations without the knowledge of Congress…….
Trump is on the mark. He’s deleting affirmative action. That’s how we got here.
Good. But if you gave up smoking after getting lung cancer, you still have to deal with the cancer.
Let’s discuss treatment strategies.
It is time for a Crusade of the Pope Urban II type. That or Spartans. Im flexible!
☦️💪🏾🥷🏼
The Speech of Urban II at the Council of Clermont, 1095. Fulcher of Chartres
“In 1094 or 1095, Alexius, the Greek emperor, sent to the pope, Urban II, and asked for aid from the west against the Turks, who had taken nearly all of Asia Minor from him. At the council of Clermont Urban addressed a great crowd and urged all to go to the aid of the Greeks and to recover Palestine from the rule of the Mohammedans.”
For your brethren who live in the east are in urgent need of your help, and you must hasten to give them the aid which has often been promised them. For, as the most of you have heard, the Turks and Arabs have attacked them and have conquered the territory of Romania [the Greek empire] as far west as the shore of the Mediterranean and the Hellespont, which is called the Arm of St. George. They have occupied more and more of the lands of those Christians, and have overcome them in seven battles. They have killed and captured many, and have destroyed the churches and devastated the empire. If you permit them to continue thus for awhile with impunity, the faithful of God will be much more widely attacked by them. On this account I, or rather the Lord, beseech you as Christ’s heralds to publish this everywhere and to persuade all people of whatever rank, foot-soldiers and knights, poor and rich, to carry aid promptly to those Christians and to destroy that vile race from the lands of our friends. I say this to those who are present, it is meant also for those who are absent. Moreover, Christ commands it.
“All who die by the way, whether by land or by sea, or in battle against the pagans, shall have immediate remission of sins.
👼😉
O what a disgrace if such a despised and base race, which worships demons, should conquer a people which has the faith of omnipotent God and is made glorious with the name of Christ! With what reproaches will the Lord overwhelm us if you do not aid those who, with us, profess the Christian religion! Let those who have been accustomed unjustly to wage private warfare against the faithful now go against the infidels and end with victory this war which should have been begun long ago.

Persian Officer: Spartans! Lay down your weapons. [a spear flies from the Spartans, killing the Persian officer.]
Leonidas: Persians! Come and get them! [The Persians sound the advance and charge towards the Spartans.] Give them nothing! But take from them… everything!
Estovir, you are speaking my language. I am a Templar Knight. Love this!
Treatment can be started immediately as an outpatient. The illiberal descent of institutions such as U of Chicago must be widely publicized so that alumni donors, both minor donors and major big bucks donors, will decide to stop feeding the pig. Only then will the sluts for money, otherwise know as college administrators, pay attention. Doing so may even get the attention of the university Board of Trustees especially if the money to pay the salaries of activist faculty dries up. While I will be forever grateful to the four institutions that I attended (undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate) for providing me with the teachings, experiences, and opportunity to have an intellectually fulfilling and comfortable life for my family, and for the privilege as a physician to make a difference, sometimes a profound one, in the lives of others, long ago I stopped donating to these schools as their politically activist descent continued unabated. Money talks.
Vincente, it’s interesting that we’ve always said to follow the money to get to the root of the multitudes of problems we face. So yes, starving this cancer may prove effective to some degree, however I am confident the cancer is so deeply entrenched that it will adapt.
Hear hear . You say it so.well.
That she believes a college, that no one is obligated to send their kids to, is the place to cement power, speaks volumes about her tiny myopic mind and the echo chamber in which she resides; she doesn’t seem to be aware that she doesn’t *actually* live in the USSR or China, but for in her head.
These people are just sad, all of them.
When the Obamas worked at that evil colonialist organization, I believe their main motive was to get their girls a good primary school education at the otherwise insanely expensive U of C Lab School.
Michelle was tasked with making po’ folks use the urgent care clinics the medical center had set up, instead of going to the ER every time they had the sniffles.
