Turley Speaks in Prague on Free Speech

Today I have the pleasure of speaking on free speech and my book, The Indispensable Right: Free Speech in an Age of Rage” in Prague at the  Pražská křižovatka (St. Anne’s Church) (The cultural centre founded by Václav Havel). I have been meeting with the extraordinary free speech community in the Czech Republic, including members of Institute H21 who have been instrumental in focusing attention on the issues surrounding free speech. Europe is now ground zero in the fight for free speech as the European Union ramps up its censorship laws, including the Digital Services Act. Free speech is in a free fall in Europe and these conferences have never been more important.

The speech obviously took on an ominous and bitter quality with the assassination of Charlie Kirk.  I will be addressing his murder today, but I have been speaking with reporters and academics about its implications. I will also be writing again about it tomorrow in my Saturday column in The Hill.

We have clearly entered the most dangerous stage of an “age of rage” with two attempted assassinations of President Trump, the assassination of Democratic politicians in Minnesota, and now the assassination of Charlie Kirk. The death of Charlie, who I knew and respected, was unnerving given his effort to create debates in higher education and to challenge the intolerance for opposing views.

Some in the anti-free speech community are already using the Kirk assassination to call for additional controls over what they consider hate speech and disinformation. It is a crushing irony to use the murder of a free speech advocate to justify greater censorship.

Charlie spent his life fighting against speech controls and orthodoxy on college campuses. To use him as an excuse for additional limits on free speech is the ultimate dishonoring of his life and his legacy.

I look forward to today’s event and the opportunity to interact with this esteemed group of academics, journalists, and advocates in Prague.

  1. A quandary: how best to define a Democrat, I turned to a Thesaurus and looked under ‘fool’ and one definition stood out, ‘flimflam’, deception to the actual Con that they care, and anyway both parties do it, so what the big beef. Basic instructions for success while flimflamming, ‘wholesome’ denial.

  2. So they caught the far left whacko that they think might have fired the short that killed Kirk.

Oops, all those assumptions when out the window. No evidence of far left, or even left leaning. Grew up in a right wing community where guns are revered.

“Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old accused of killing Charlie Kirk, was a high-achieving student from a small Utah suburb.

He had no party affiliation and didn’t vote in the two most recent elections, voter registration records show. But a family member told investigators that Robinson “had become more political in recent years” and had lashed out at Kirk, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said today.

Robinson grew up in the city of Washington, Utah, and earned a scholarship to attend Utah State University, according to public records and social media.”

    1. Why would he write “Hey fascist, catch” on the bullet casings if he was not far-left. He called a conservative speaker who promotes open dialogue and free speech a “fascist,” which is a typical thing for far-leftists to do. Also, as for being a college student, that is also consistent with a far-left ideology.

Far from going out the window, what we’re learning confirms the very reasonable assumptions that were initially made.

      1. I read that his family are all Conservative and registered Republicans. They did report that he had stated some red flag comments regarding Kirk. He had referred his hatred towards him as Charlie being a fascist. From that limited information, I would bet that this 22 year old kid didn’t really research Charlie’s work. He’s probably like every other kid relying on what is said on Social Media or Facebook or tiltok bullchit. I don’t think the shooter is a tranny or this killing was anchored about that issue. He was obviously radicalized by the lefts Antifa mantra and now we get to lose another young life that perhaps could have been something positive. I would bet that reality is now setting in for him and the magnitude of the senseless crime is setting in that he has squandered his life on. This whole thing is sickening and I truly feel empathy for both families. Can you imagine what this is doing to the shooters parents and siblings, they appear decent people? It’s easy to cry for blood but it’s hard to follow God’s word for forgiveness and compassion., prayers for them all.

    2. While it is increasing likely that he is mentally disturbed – probably a Paraniod Schitz – the rest of your claims are bunk.

He was vehemently angry about Kirk.

I know this is hard for you – but everyone from Utah is not republican.

At this point it is too early to tell for sure whether he is a left wing nut or just mentally disturbed.
It is however increasingly unlikely that this was part of some larger left wing nut conspiracy.

It is likely he acted alone.

None of the above is certain – just likely.

But the difference between us is that you make absurd claims that are unlikely
      Such as the collusion delusion,
      or that Biden was competent
or that the Hunter laptop was russian disinformation
      or ……

What is clear is that given limited information you jump to unlikely conclusions that are consistent with your ideology not the known facts.

At this point it is likely in order of probability that he is either
Mentally unhealthy – most likely Paranoid schitzonphrenia – that has an onset between 16 and 39 and is almost always in intelligent people.
      A recent left wing radical.
Or had some unknown grudge against Kirk himself

      1. John Say,

That sounds remarkably similar to points I am making with a cousin who argues that the killer is MAGA. But then he also thinks Trump faked the assassination attempt. TDS is real and looks like a psychosis rather than the neurosis I once thought.

        1. Johnny Say is now an expert on mental illness, perhaps as a result of personal experience.
He certainly is a jack of all trades.

He recently claimed to be a registered architect in Pennsylvania with over 40 years experience.
This of course is complete nonsense.
His father, who died in 2013, was an architect for many years, but Johnny seems to think that the title of “architect” is a hereditary title that requires no training, and is simply passed from father to son.

A while ago, he also claimed that he is an attorney.
He challenged another commenter who tried to make a legal point, and he dismissed him saying “that is not what I learned in law school.”
          His wife is an attorney.
Johnny seems to think that if you marry an attorney, then you magically also become an attorney.

Yes indeed, Johnny is most certainly very familiar with mental illness.

        2. Anyone that truly understands the MAGA movement understands that without TPUSA and Charlie, there would not be a Trump second term. He had to have been radicalized by the Antifa cult, it will soon unfold.

      2. “ I know this is hard for you – but everyone from Utah is not republican.”

His family was. His father is a registered Republican. A Mormon family, a conservative family. Pretty much rules out that he was a leftist.

“ What is clear is that given limited information you jump to unlikely conclusions that are consistent with your ideology not the known facts.”

What?! You and your fellow Trump supporters did that all day long. Jumping to conclusions consistent with your ideology, not the known facts.

“ While it is increasing likely that he is mentally disturbed – probably a Paraniod Schitz – the rest of your claims are bunk.“

Of course, when it turns out he was not the political villain the right made him out to be, a radical leftist, and more of a typical kid from a conservative Mormon family who identifies as Republican it’s suddenly a mentally disturbed kid. Nothing to do with the left.

The kid was likely radicalized by the extreme political rhetoric online, the same rhetoric BOTH sides are guilty of.

“ It is however increasingly unlikely that this was part of some larger left-wing nut conspiracy.”

That didn’t stop President Trump from blaming the left. Or any of the other MAGA voices online echoing his views as truth and blaming the left for Kirk’s death.

John Say, you really contradict yourself a lot. First, you say,

“ What is clear is that given limited information you jump to unlikely conclusions that are consistent with your ideology not the known facts.”

Then you proceed to do just that,

“ At this point, it is likely in order of probability that he is either
Mentally unhealthy – most likely Paranoid schitzonphrenia – that has an onset between 16 and 39 and is almost always in intelligent people.
        A recent left wing radical.
Or had some unknown grudge against Kirk himself”

Making a medical diagnosis? You’re already making excuses to avoid the fact that he is not a radical leftist as everyone in MAGA-verse was blaming. Stop assuming and speculating. All you had to do was admit this is not turning out to be the narrative Trump and his supporters claimed. You already admit it is very likely their claims are not true, but that is not what you were saying last night. That is why the left has been calling calm and lowering the temperature. The right was escalating and agitating for revenge on the left with no evidence that the left was involved. Now that it is becoming increasingly clear that it’s not the case the excuses will start. Will they admit they went overboard on the rhetoric? I don’t think so. Most will likely double down or ignore the facts to avoid admitting they may have gone…a bit overboard on the rage.

        1. “A Mormon family, a conservative family. Pretty much rules out that he was a leftist.”

That is one of your lamest comments, ever.

Or is it that you’ve never heard of a child with politics different than the parents?

You know, like: Ron Reagan Jr., and Patti Davis, both staunch Leftists — and both the children of President Reagan.

    3. Utah Governor Spencer Cox confirmed that casings recovered from the shooting scene had political messages etched into the metal, including:

FIRED CASING: “Notices Bulges OWO What is this?” –

UNFIRED CASING 1: “Hey fascist, catch! [3 down arrow symbols]”

UNFIRED CASING 2: “O Bella Ciao, Bella Ciao, Bella Ciao Ciao Ciao” (a reference to an Italian anti-fascist song)

UNFIRED CASING 3: “If you read this, you are gay lmao”

The fired casing and unfired casings 1 and 3 are some kind of online memes.
Robinson also was allegedly involved in multiple Antifa Discord servers.

    4. When did your family’s political beliefs and political party make a person a member of that party?

I agree with Oldmanfromkansas in that the liberals we are stuck with on this site are morons.

      1. “ When did your family’s political beliefs and political party make a person a member of that party?”

Republicans make this claim too when someone accused of an attocity is not registered with any party but the family is.

  3. Professor Turley’s views of free speech “erosion” in Europe are wrong. He compares their views of free speech against our own and even our government attacks and punishes those who use free speech. The Professor ignores the same violations and attacks on free speech by the Trump administration. He won’t criticize it because like anyone who has been attacked by the President or his administration staff, he will be ostracized and labeled as a radical leftist because he is still a Democrat. It would be very easy to smear the Professor the moment he openly and harshly criticizes the President or his administration. So Professor Turley ironically chooses to self-censor. He knows how he can be silenced by the administration and Fox News if he ever did.

President Trump has called for revoking the broadcast licenses of news organizations that report things he doesn’t like. That is a direct call to censor and Professor Turley has remained silent. It’s easier for him to criticize foreign governments instead of the Trump government.

The Trump administration has tried to deport two foreign University students who were here legally to exercise their free speech rights. Professor Turley never brought those issues up and the chilling effect it had on free speech. Professor Turley’s position on free speech is hypocritical and disingenuous. President Trump has demonstrated he wants to punish and silence his critics for saying things he doesn’t like. The Gaza protest at Universities is another example. Using antisemitism as a pretext Trump wants to silence students or anyone critical of Israel and their agenda of ethnic cleansing.

Professor Turley has used stories from Europe and twisted their context to fit his “Europe is anti-free speech” narrative. He’s doing the same thing Steve Crowder does. Picks a subject that is controversial and manipulates it to rile up and upset his audience to gain attention and sell more books. It’s essentially a promotion campaign that needs exaggerated stories, stories told out of context, and half-truths. Hillary Clinton infamously said that MAGA was a basket of deplorables. It seems more accurate to say MAGA is a basket of gullible.

79% of U.S. adults have skills above a basic level, while 21% struggle with assignments requiring comparing and contrasting information, paraphrasing, or making inferences. More current data from late 2024/early 2025 indicates a decline in literacy, with 28% of adults scoring at the lowest levels compared to 19% in 2017, highlighting a significant challenge for millions of Americans.

These are the people Trump relies on and are his biggest supporters. 20% of the population struggle to understand what they are reading and these are the people expected to understand the complex issue of free speech? To make up for the deficiency they rely on others to explain and sadly as is the case with Trump supporters it’s people who are equally struggling with reading comprehension like President Trump. Or those who take advantage of the inability by individuals like Steve Bannon, Stephen Miller, Tim Poole, Glenn Beck, etc. Remember Trump needed more pictures than words to understand national security briefings.

      1. Poor libs, even their own website is tell the crazies to knock it off

BLUESKY FINDS OUT! Unhinged Users Are Getting Fired Left & Right For Disgusting Charlie Kirk Posts!

    1. I think Turley believes so much absurd sh!t has been flung at the Trump monkey Apostle – as if Trump needed any help flinging poo – it’s his, Turley’s, duty to flush the commode.

*I have confidence when the sh!t hits the free speech fan . .. Turley will come around.

      1. Once Trump is out of power, Turley will undoubtedly change his tune. He will finally be free to criticize Trump openly, without the fear of smears or labels that have silenced him until now.

      2. What is it you are expecting to change ?
The pee tape is not going to surface – it does not exist.
The evidence of russian collusion does not exist.
People are not going to suddenly decide Biden was competent all allong.
They are not going to decide that the Hunter Laptop is a russian fake.
They know that the Biden administration was a disaster on nearly all fronts – they are not going to change their minds.

In the long run people beleive those who are find time and again to be truthful
and disbeleive those who are not.

Trump and Republicans would have to really screw the pooch to get to the levels of distruct people have of democrats and the left.

If you actually found something Damning about Trump today – it would take a really long long time to get people to beleive you. You have burned your credibility – it is incredibly hard to get that back.

There are lots of problems this country faces – Problems that the democrats created.
These problems are starting to “come home to roost”
I am not sure Trump is up to fixing them all. But he has done reasonably well thus far.
I am as is most of the country sure that democrats will only make them worse.

If Trump fails – he COULD lose the trust of the american people – but that would NOT result in democrats regaining it.

You have lied too much – it is going to take along time and lots of rigid adherance to the facts and truth rather than ideology before you will get that credibility back.

        1. You confuse my criticism of Trump – which is substantial – with support for straw man Biden, the pee tapes and Russia, Russia, Russia. .. and nothing could be further from the truth.

*but that ok .. . I’m used to it.

        2. “ What is it you are expecting to change ?”

What you said after that is irrelevant to the question. Trump holds power over others thru fear and threats. Not policy.

Republicans in Congress are loath to criticize the President lest they get targetetd and labeled by the president and his fans follow suit. Trump wields power by using the power of government to threaten and instill fear on critics. Once he is no longer in power others trying to imitate his style and authority will not have it. Once the threat of using government to punish and threatening funding cuts and investigations more will be free to criticize him and his policy failures.

The tariffs will very likely be ruled illegal by the Supreme court. Immigration policies will be investigated and perhaps some will be prosecuted when he is gone. The economy is not doing good. It’s getting weaker, not stronger. The latest jobs numbers after firing the lead statistician continue to show weak numbers. Now they blame the data instead of admititng reality. There are still three years to go with this administration and that gives us plenty of time to judge Trump. Republicans don’t seem to be in a good position to gain any new seats in the midterms. They are likely to lose the House if the economy doesn’t improve more.

    2. ^^”Hillary Clinton infamously said that MAGA was a basket of deplorables. It seems more accurate to say MAGA is a basket of gullible.

Cites the Hildabeast as a credible source of wisdom?!? Okey-dokey.

^^”So Professor Turley ironically chooses to self-censor. He knows how he can be silenced by the administration and Fox News if he ever did.”

Faux News?!? The newcomer to the leftist agenda. Not fully there yet, ole Murdoch still clutching to strings of ownership, while his loony leftist kids turn Faux into another TDS propaganda channel. The sooner they bankrupt it, the better. Who still watches Faux?

^^”President Trump has called for revoking the broadcast licenses of news organizations that report things he doesn’t like. That is a direct call to censor and Professor Turley has remained silent. It’s easier for him to criticize foreign governments instead of the Trump government.”

He doesn’t like? Neither does the majority of the Nation’s populace. Which is why the leftist network news is crumbling. Not just because they are not likable, which is true enough, but because they are patent liars, censors, and Marxist propaganda artists clutching a Federal Broadcast License, which is granted under certain conditions and requirements, and not as a participation award.

The Nation used to have laws that prescribed requirements of fairness on Federally licenses broadcasting networks. They were all watered down by leftists, and in the true spirit of a “do nothing” RINO Republican Congress, no laws have been reintroduced. Insider trading takes time. Vacations and holidays, who’s got time to make laws?

“In Radio Television News Directors Association v. FCC (2000), the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit ordered the FCC to repeal the personal attack and political editorial rules — the only surviving elements of the fairness doctrine — although the rules have never been declared unconstitutional.”

      https://firstamendment.mtsu.edu/article/right-to-respond-and-right-of-reply/

      (Never declared unconstitutional).

Meaning anytime Congress wants to get off it’s do nothing duff, it can take up this issue, rewrite the Fairness Doctrine, and enshrine through law, the requirements of fairness to the public which is necessary in the public’s interest, to maintain an FCC broadcast license,

^^”79% of U.S. adults have skills above a basic level, while 21% struggle with assignments requiring comparing and contrasting information, paraphrasing, or making inferences. More current data from late 2024/early 2025 indicates a decline in literacy, with 28% of adults scoring at the lowest levels compared to 19% in 2017, highlighting a significant challenge for millions of Americans.”

I believe the numbers are actually worse than that, but I won’t quibble here. The obvious fact being, the figures are the expected result of decades of leftist policies from the Teachers Union, and the Dept., of Education, a misnomer if ever there was one.

^^”Trump needed more pictures than words to understand national security briefings.”

Good, at least we have a President who “attends” National Security briefings, instead of his Wife.

      1. I agree with much of what you have said – but most of your remarks on the FCC are false.
The Fairness doctrine was initiated by Johnson as a means to destroy an emerging right leaning boradcast radio.

Red Lion VS FCC was a very7 bad SCOTUS decision that burned the first amendment to the ground in the area of broadcasting.
Contra your claims the Right Bitterly fought against the Fairness doctine. It was significantly watered down by Reagan though not eliminated.
It is that watering down that allowed the rise of conservative Talk Radio. The left tried to compete – but they could not. Few really want to listen to left wing nuts.

Today it is time to end the FCC – they serve no purpose – The FCC has only limited ability to control broadcast media and far less on internet content and other alternet media.

Further the Market is proving once again – that you can not regulate to force people to prefer what you want them too. CBS etc problems with the FCC are inconsequential. They are failing – because people do not trust them.

Murdocks children will have to figure out how to maintain Fox’s audience appeal or they too will follow MSNBC, CBS, …. just delayed.

Regardless a massive amount of independent media is out there challenging them – and doing incredibly well.

There is no need for the FCC, the fairness doctrine or government censorship.

        1. ^^There is substance to consider in what you say. Allowing free market to reign in the non-competitive (or incompetent), enterprises that make up the National media is a viable alternative to government regulation and control. In as much as I’m not a fan of governmental control, your sentiments have my ear.

Though I agree that free market competition will eventually sort out the circus that is today’s American National news, perhaps also in the U.K., and elsewhere in the free market world. My concern there is that it could take much longer than the regulatory process, “unless” we had a Congress that actually did it’s job, (all stripes). That such a outcome might suddenly happen is a fairly weak wager.

          I will consider your input.

Oh for Heaven’s sake, we just managed to have a political conversation of opposing views where common ground was identified and it did not devolve into chest thumping and tooth gnashing.

Maybe there is hope. At any rate, this put me in a more optimistic mood this morning.

    3. “The Gaza protest at Universities is another example. Using antisemitism as a pretext Trump wants to silence students or anyone critical of Israel and their agenda of ethnic cleansing.”

“ethnic cleansing.” Do you know what ethnic cleansing is? Let me provide examples. Your antisemitic friends chant “from the river to the sea.” That is a call for Muslims to occupy all of Israel and make Israel Juden Frei. Juden Frei was what the Nazis and Hitler wanted. The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem made a pact with Hitler to make the world Juden Frei. What is in the Hamas Charter? Juden Frei. You are stupid and an antisemite. You use the words meant to exterminate Jews. There has been no ethnic cleansing of Gaza. If you believe otherwise, let us know. Until then you are an antisemite.

    4. “The Professor ignores the same violations and attacks on free speech by the Trump administration. ”
      Really ?
      Evidence ?

“It would be very easy to smear the Professor”
Because that is what those of you on the left do – baselessly smear people.

Turley’s criticism is driven by what is happening.
There is no equivalent in the US to the censorship in the EU.

“President Trump has called for revoking the broadcast licenses of news organizations that report things he doesn’t like.”
No he has called for it for actions that violate our laws. Personally I would get rid of the FCC.
Almost no one receives broadcast content anymore, and our content related laws only apply to broadcast content.

“That is a direct call to censor and Professor Turley has remained silent.”
No it is a call to enforce a law that was never necescary and certainly is not needed now.
Regardless, Trump says lots of things that never happen.
Trump is president – if he WANTS something to happen it will.
What does not happen is NOT censorship.
“It’s easier for him to criticize foreign governments instead of the Trump government.”
Yes, because unlike the US which is hopefully continuing to move towards greater freedom of speech, the EU and UK are moving strongly away from it.

“The Trump administration has tried to deport two foreign University students who were here legally to exercise their free speech rights.” People who are here illegally have almost no civil rights.
People who are here legally but not permanent resident have very little in the way of civil rights.
It is odd – those on the left seem to beleive it should be illegal for foreigners in foreign countries – especially russians, to try to influence US politics – but are busy defending those on temporary visas who came here and are trying to influence our politics.
The FACT is that Russian, Chinese, Iranian, Pro Hamas or whatever you are free to trash the US from outside the US.
You have an absolute right to free speech. But you do not have a right to be in the US. And unlike citizens or legal permanent residents you can not say whatever you please and remain in this country.

Those who have been deported – were NOT for the most part deported over their speech – tough they could be.
They were deported over their actions. Khalil organized the violent riots at columbia, then he worked to extort the University to comply with his demands. Those are actions. Extortion in the US is illegal.

“Professor Turley never brought those issues up and the chilling effect it had on free speech.”
Actually he has addressed those cases – and to the extent of the knowledge available at the time – he made it clear that the law on whether visa holders could be deported for purely free speech was not likely to favor Trump.
The problem is that lying on a visa application will get you deported – such as lying about affilations with terrorist groups like Hamas. Criminal activity in the US will get you deported – like organizing riots and attempting to extort universities.

“President Trump has demonstrated he wants to punish and silence his critics for saying things he doesn’t like. ”
He has been president for 4 3/4 years – do you have an example of an instance where he directed the government to censor anyone and the government followed that direction

Presidents too have free speech – they can say they want unconstitutional actions, They can not however direct them.

When you have eveidence that Trump or his administration have ACTUALLY abridged someones free speech – then we will take you seriously.

Charlie Kirk’s right to free speech has just been silence PERMANENTLY – that is on you.

“The Gaza protest at Universities is another example. Using antisemitism as a pretext Trump wants to silence students or anyone critical of Israel and their agenda of ethnic cleansing.”
Whether you call it a pretext or not is irrelevant. The Fact is that universities receive mony from the federal government and they are required to protect the civil rights of students to recieve that money.

Just as a university must not turn a blind eye or even support racial discrimination or violence against blacks.
It can not do so with respect to jews, or asians, or christians, or ……

If you want federal money – you must operate under the same constitutional requirements that bind the federal govenrment.

Personally we should just stop all federal education funding. We do not have the money and that ends the political debate. Harvard and the Ivy’s can go back to antisemitism and DEI if they wish – and if students, parents and donors are willing to pay for it. But Government can not pay insitutions that willfully discriminate or do so with willful
      blindness.

So what regarding the EU or UK is Turley misrepresenting ?
If Turley is being manipulative or decieptful – provide us the FACTS.

What additional context is needed when the govenrment OPENLY admits is it Criminalizing speech it does not like ?

“79% of U.S. adults have skills above a basic level, while 21% struggle with assignments requiring comparing and contrasting information, paraphrasing, or making inferences. More current data from late 2024/early 2025 indicates a decline in literacy, with 28% of adults scoring at the lowest levels compared to 19% in 2017, highlighting a significant challenge for millions of Americans.”
Likely correct – that is what the disasterous covid education policies did to us.
And before that decades of left wing nonense.

It is self evident from YOUR OWN REMARKS that you are incapable of more than first order shallow thought.

You can not or do not distinguish between what people say and what they actually do.

Absolutely large numbers of americans suffer from that appliction – as a result of 40+ years of pumping more and more money and more and more left wing nuts into education with declining outcomes.

The issues regarding speech are NOT complex – Government may not censor speech except within the incredibly narrow range of inciting violence or delivering sexual content to children.
      Pretty simple.

“20% of the population struggle to understand what they are reading and these are the people expected to understand the complex issue of free speech?”
100% of left wing nuts do not understand that speech you do not like. Speech YOU call “hate speech” – which pretty much always means speech that you disagree with is constitutionally protected.

Regardless Rasmussen has Trump at 48% approval right now. That is far greater than 20%.

Further – lets presume that you are correct. That means self govenrment is impossible because the people are too stupid to govern themselves.

History has proven that Socialist govenrments – BIG governments always fail. Those are the governments favored by the left. There are critical reasons those govenrments fail – but you purportedly highly educated left wing nuts are too stupid to grasp those reasons. You appear to think that if you try enough times that eventually you will not end up with a bloody mess.

As to “taking advantage of people” – again you seem to be incapable of understanding that while not immediately – ultimately the majority get things most things right -0 or as close as we can get – given strong protections of individual rights.

You say ordinary people are morons because they voted for Trump – why is it that YOU are not the moron ?
You have voted for the wrong choice repeatedly and you have constantly had abysmal judgement.
The Russian collusion was a delusion.
Nearly everything you beleived from experts about Covid was wrong and most of it was deliberate lies,
You were wrong about Biden’s competence.
You were wrong about Hunters laptop.
You were wrong about a very long list of others things.

Not only were YOU wrong – and in many cases STILL beleive nonsense,
But ordinary people – the people you call morons – not immediately but eventually got all of this right
      even though you still haven’t.

It is pretty well evident who is incapable of even the most rudimentary critical thinking,
      And who is.

The people you revile – some of them MAY be intellectually weak. But over the long run they do better than YOU about most everything.

As to influencers – you have plenty of your own. Of course they have proven less effective – because like you they keep selling lies.

Ordinary people are not as stupid as you claim. It takes them a while but they ultimately get things right.

SOMETIMES they are misdirected by influencers that lie to them.

But as the adage goes – fool me once – shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

Most people realize who can be trusted and who can not.

The people you claim are decieving people are beleived by hundreds of millions of people because time after time – they were right when you were wrong.

That is how trust and credibility works.

It is also why the people you are insulting have managed to govern themselves – DESPITE your help.

      1. John Say,

“ The Professor ignores the same violations and attacks on free speech by the Trump administration. ”
        Really ?
        Evidence ?”

        Yes, really.

The Trump administration wanted to deport Rumeysa Ozturk and revoked her visa because she co-wrote an Op-ed critical of Israel and it’s actions in Gaza. She was targeted for her speech. Foreign students have free speech rights while they are in the coutry.

Mamhoud Khalilk was targeteted be the Trump adiminstration for exercising political speech. A green card holder also has free speech rights. Organizing a protest is not a crime. Negotiating a peaceful resolution with school administrators is not a crime. Trump did not like what they represented and what they were saying. He wanted to punish them for the views they held. Turley claims Europe does this. So does Trump.

“ Presidents too have free speech – they can say they want unconstitutional actions, They can not however direct them.”

President Trump is the government. You always say government does not have free speech rights. He’s been demanding the FCC cancel broadcast licenses of news organizations because he doesn’t like what they are saying about him. You claimed the governemnt cannot suggest or point out to social media companies that certain people are violating their TOS. Claiming they are censoring by proxy. They are only suggesting. You claimed that was an attack on free speech. Now it it isn’t?

“ What additional context is needed when the govenrment OPENLY admits is it Criminalizing speech it does not like ?“

Apparently you need additional context. Trump OPENLY wants to criminalize speeech it does not like. Khalil and Ozturk are examples. Your contradictory views appear to be more akin to congnitive dissonance than denial.

“ As to “taking advantage of people” – again you seem to be incapable of understanding that while not immediately – ultimately the majority get things most things right -0 or as close as we can get – given strong protections of individual rights.“

Do you hear youself? “while not immediately- ultimately? you don’t know.

“ Ordinary people are not as stupid as you claim. It takes them a while but they ultimately get things right.

SOMETIMES they are misdirected by influencers that lie to them.”

Yes as the statistic show. Trump relies on those stupid people to support him. Because they are too slow to realize things or oftentimes they don’t. All the time they are misdirected by influencers. Just in the past 48 hrs MAGA got into an anti-left frenzy because influncers were lying to them. From what was incribed in casings to claims of radical left plots to silence Charlie Kirk. None of that proved to be true, but the overwhelming majority of MAGA nuts bought into it with the gullibility of a 5 year old. Which proves the claim a lot of trump supporters cannot comprehend what they read most of the time. They can’t discern fact from opinion.

“ It is also why the people you are insulting have managed to govern themselves – DESPITE your help.”

ROFL. They have been runnign on autopilot for a long time. They have been led on by those who know how stupid they are. As long as you keep them happy and angry at the other side they will never realize it. That’s why Trump is successful. He knows how to manipulate the poorly educated.

        1. I’m gonna start calling X/George ‘ROFL’ (pronounced RAWFULL) cuz he likes to pretend he’s smarter and his opinions are superior so when he cannot answer on substance, he throws in the ROFL put-down.
Only it doesn’t work when he does it. His style belies his attempt to pretend to be someone different despite him changing his logo or sign- in pseudonym. I guess if we believe in free speech we have to put up with him every day.

  4. Is it “fascist” or “antifascist” to murder an unarmed man in order to suppress free speech and halt the exchange of ideas?

The killer’s actions were clearly fascist, but the media is describing the shells as being inscribed with “antifascist” messages.

This proves true what I said yesterday: in modern parlance, “antifascist” means “fascist.”

    1. Never met anyone who was [for] ‘fascism’.. . So ‘antifa’ seems kind of redundant.

I’m stuck by the growing similarities MO of Kirks assassin and the young college kid who shot Trump’s ear. In the latter case, I don’t think a motivation or reason for the shooting has ever been established?

      *a “fascist” on a mission .. .

      https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/he-was-on-a-mission-experts-reveal-the-skill-charlie-kirk-s-killer-needed-to-pull-off-a-single-shot-assassination/ar-AA1MnhO4?ocid=msedgntp&pc=U531&cvid=830e59898fe147efc080cdf729b0cd64&ei=13

    2. Oldman

This is not good for Boeing. One of their top leaders posted a comment about the supporting the killing of Charlie K

Like Boeing needs more bad news… Dumb

      1. “This is not good for Boeing. One of their top leaders posted a comment about the supporting the killing of Charlie K”

The Trump administration appears to have been trying to salvage Boeing by helping them continue to receive important defense contracts. It will be interesting to see if that idiot’s post results in a 180 in that. Obviously Boeing can’t be completely stripped of defense work immediately without jeopardizing some existing programs, but any movement in the opposite direction could be their death knell.

      2. “I just can’t wrap my mind around how the people of Europe can call for the limitation of speech after having experienced the eradication of free speech by Hitler and Stalin.”

That’s an easy question to answer. The people favoring this want to *BE* Hitler or Stalin (or one of their close advisors) and are absolutely convinced that they could do a much better job of wielding absolute power than the previous cretins did.

      3. “I just can’t wrap my mind around how the people of Europe can call for the limitation of speech after having experienced the eradication of free speech by Hitler and Stalin.”

That’s an easy question to answer, unfortunately. The people favoring this want to *BE* Hitler or Stalin (or one of their close advisors) and are absolutely convinced that they could do a much better job of wielding absolute power than the previous cretins did.

      4. “Everything l’ve read about Charlie Kirk says that he used the right of speech to discuss, inform and persuade. Peacefully. Successfully.”

I have no doubt that was exactly the motive for his assassination.

“Charlie’s way with speech saves us the trouble of forcing another Yorktown on somebody.”

Does it? It would, were it *ultimately* successful. However, given the fact that he has been silenced by a bullet, the ultimate success of his strategy has yet to be demonstrated. I’d like to think you are correct, but I am daily becoming more and more skeptical of that.

    3. OldmanfromKansas, do you really know what a fascist is? I see way too many people here utter it without really understanding it.

ANTIFA is an acronym for anti-fascist. Ironically real fascists will accuse others of being fascists. Anti-fascists are those calling out real fascists who then turn it around and call anti-fascists… fascists. That’s how they work and that’s why most intellectuals won’t debate a fascist.

Yesterday people here were claiming there were transgender messages on bullets and confirmed by the FBI. Turned out it was not true. The real messages seem more like taunting instead of a direct message. Those spreading the rumors online about the transgender and anti-fascist messages succeeded in steering the rumor to mean the shooter was a leftist radical. We still have no idea what his political leanings are or his motive. We will find out soon.

Real fascists are people like the Proud Boys, 3 percenters, White supremacists and many in the Trump administration. Fascists prioritize the nation or race above the individual, suppress opposition, believe in a natural social hierarchy, and strongly regiment society and the economy to achieve their goals. That sounds like everything the Trump administration is doing. For example they are focused on getting rid of immigrants, brown people, black people, asians. But they are keen on increasing immigration of white people more.

“ The Trump administration has unveiled a plan to boost white immigration to the United States, in stark contrast with its efforts to expel immigrants from largely nonwhite countries as varied as Nepal and Nicaragua.“

      https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/trump-admin-seeks-help-boost-185132224.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAAnid_gNAic7PjBHEHH71Rbk7q4JUlbL0hN51LPDpAFPauzPBWHGwRENVyUmewCO0YMTny-gOVFaXRE6O8GfS33-QVcuzYZ4G63KK20v0gPJDLl6t4pSGWarf6kiCPbh4dNo4SGYXAlsTFTo5f6AGs_Jh-sn6SeP7rKBFKgWcp5A

The Trump administration has been exercising an American form of fascism that is becoming more prevalent except to those easily convinced it’s the left who are fascist. That is how the Nazis came to power ironically.

      1. Damn X, don’t you ever get tired of being worn. transgender messages on bullets and confirmed by the FBI. Turned out it was not true.” Turns out it was true. The bullets were shown by the investigators.

      2. Well now don’t forget, the Nazi’s breathed oxygen! Yes they did, it’s true.

And so does Trump, and Vance, and the Pope.

So there ya go! Proof positive.

Why can’t these genius’s be in my fantasy football league…?

“Take it easy Big Joe, some of these people got sensitive feelings.”

      3. The authoritative definition of Fascism would be that of Benito Musollini – the founder of Fascism.
        “nothing outside the state
        Everything inside the state
        nothing against the state”.

It is not an accident sounds like socialism -it is, Musollini and Hitler made repeatedly clear that Fascism was socialist. Nazi is National socialist German Workers Party.

“ANTIFA is an acronym for anti-fascist. Ironically real fascists will accuse others of being fascists.”
        Correct/

“Anti-fascists are those calling out real fascists”
Aparently you are oblivious to the contradiction in what you have written.

We can not identify fascism by who calls who what names.
WE have to do so based on the actual values of each contender for the fascist lable.

        Fortunately that is easy.
Musollinis’ definition of Fascism – which out side of idiot left wing nuts attempts to redefine fascism,
is not only the definition that applies to all early fascists, it accurately describes every fascist group SINCE.

Most tend to be Nationalists, But ALL are socialists.
Musolini was a fascist, Hitler was a fascist, Franco was a fascist, Peron was a fascist.
These ALL meet Musolini’s definition AND include nationalism.
Stalin was a fascist, Mao was a fascist, Pol Pot was a Fascist, Castro was a fascist.
That permutation of fascism does NOT include the strong nationalism that is part of Musolinni’s defintion.
The communistist verson of Fascism was international rather than nationalist.
        It was still facism.

Today By FAR the most fascist country in the world in China under Xi which has in the past decade revived the virulently nationalist form of fascism of he 30’s 40’s 50’s and early 60’s.

In US politics today neither party is fascist in the sense of Musollini, Franco, or Hitler.
But it is the left that comes closest.

Republicans not only do not come close but as strongly headed AWAY from fascism.

Cutting govenrment is not fascist. It is libertarian – and libertarians are as far from fascist as you can get politically.
Staying out of wars we do not beleing in – is actually anti-fascist.

Can you name ANYTHING that modern democrats stand for that is not fascist or fascist adjacent ?

“Yesterday people here were claiming there were transgender messages on bullets”
And there was atleast one LGBTQ+ message and we still do NOT have all the messages – and it likely will take months before we do get them – like the case of the shooter who murdered children in a religious school.

“The real messages seem more like taunting instead of a direct message.”
        and that changes what ?

“Those spreading the rumors online about the transgender and anti-fascist messages succeeded in steering the rumor to mean the shooter was a leftist radical.”
And there inarguably are what left wingnuts call antifascist messages – except they are actually fascist messages – because you idiots are hitler adjacent and constantly pretending that it is others.

“We still have no idea what his political leanings are or his motive.”
False – there is plenty of evidence of his policitical leanings – that is not in dispute.
What we do not know is whether a rational intelligent left wing nut decided to murder Kirk, or whether a person who suffers from a mental health problem like Schitzophrenia delusionally channeled the left and murdered Kirk.

Increasingly the odds favor the later.

Assuming that is the case – while the act is heinous – just like Hinkley the act itself is NOT an accurate reflection of the left.

BUT the response of millions on the left is. Robinson may be little more than a paranoid Schitz who channeled left wing nonsense. He could as easily have channeled some other nonsense – the Gifford shooted was fixated on Grammar.
But the hatred and joy spewed by Millions of left wing nuts is very real evidence that the left is evil and fascist.

“beleive people when they show you who they are the first time”

“Real fascists are people like the Proud Boys, 3 percenters, ”
not even close. These people do NOT want a massive socialist government that controls everything”
They are not fascist. You can attack their beleifs as wanting but lying about them makes them look good and YOU bad.

“Fascists prioritize the nation or race above the individual, suppress opposition, believe in a natural social hierarchy, and strongly regiment society and the economy to achieve their goals.”
All true but secondary – Fasicim is first and foremost socialist. The means of acheiving those goals you cite is SOCIALISM. Which should not be surprising because as YOU say fascim prioritizes the nation over the individual.
That accurately describes Hitler and it accurately describes the modern left.

It is inarguable that the modern left is racist – the fact that they have inverted their targets does not change their racism.
It is inarguable that the modern left seeks to supress the oposition – we saw that with the efforts to surpess conservatives on scoial media prior to the 2020 election.
It is inarguable that the left has a specific social hierarchy – though it is not a natural one – but then neither was the Nazi social hierachy.
It is inarguable that the left seeks to strongly regiment society and the economy.
“That sounds like everything the Trump administration is doing.”

Only in an upside down left wing nut nursery ryhme.

“For example they are focused on getting rid of immigrants, brown people, black people, asians. But they are keen on increasing immigration of white people more.”
No they are getting rid of people who are here illegally.
The largest single group of legal immigrants to the US is asians.
There is not going to be any mass immigration of white people to the US
Only left wing loons beleive that ANYONE beleives that.

There appears to be an already existant demographic shift in the country that favors the right.
The US birth rate is 1.6, the Birth rate for blue states is 1.2, the birth rate for red states is 2.0.
It is likely that the Birth rate for conservatives is above the 2.1 rate required for a population increase.

We do not know – or much care if those conservatives are white or yellow or brown or black.
Just so long as they are not left wing nuts.

We are deporting massive numbers of people to Venezueala – large numbers are Self Deporting – Why ?

Because the US – and MAGA is actually very friendly to immigrants escaping failed socialist tyrannies.
Trump has practically labeled the Maduro government a terrorist government.
It will be relatively easy for Venezuelans that are NOT criminals to seek US asylum under Trump.

Venezeula is a $hithole country – as Trump says – but the Venezeulan people are NOT. Before Chavez Venezeuala was the wealthiest country in south and central america.

After we filter out the terrorists, drug dealers and criminals – the rest of Venezuelans seeking to immigrate are EXACTLY the people we want in the US.
They will be vetted – no socialist has a legitimat claim of needing asylum from Maduro,
But we will be admitting people much like the Cubans decades ago that are likely to be REAL antifascistfor decades to come.

AS noted – we are also accepting lots of chinese – but that process is difficult. China seeds its immigrants with spies. And it blackmails immigratns with threats to their families.

Still the US accpets significant numbers of people legally from China and will continue to do so.
Many times the number of white immigrants.

Trump is not weeding immigration for white people. He is weeding out criminals, morons, fascists and left wing nuts. People like YOU.
And that is why you hate him.

It is not racist to hate socialists.

  5. I just can’t wrap my mind around how the people of Europe can call for the limitation of speech after having experienced the eradication of free speech by Hitler and Stalin. One has to wonder, have they taken the history out of history in their class rooms? The left has done its best to eliminate the teaching of world history in America and have been met with strong resistance. Perhaps they have succeeded in Europe.
    Banned Books 2025 – 1984 – Marshall Libraries
Yes, George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four has been repeatedly challenged and banned in schools and libraries due to its political themes, sexual content, and perceived age-inappropriateness by some parents and groups. While the book is a prominent example of censorship, the actions taken by schools vary, with some retaining the book after challenges and others removing it from required reading lists or shelves.
The left sights the sexual content as a reason but they have no problem with books discussing sex between ten year old boys in Florida.
They hate the books that expose who they are.

    1. I have not read 1984 in a while. I do recall portions involving sex. But I do not recall anything that would get it banned.
It was published in the 50’s it was very tame for the time. It is barely PG today.

But I am glad that some on the left have grasp that there is such a thing as age appropriate material.

I do not think that 1984 is appropriate for 3rd graders – not because of sexual content, but because the themes
and issues are too complex for 10 yr olds.

I do not think there is any on the right that would ban 1984. But even the most libertarian of us would have no problems excluding it from elementary school libraries. But if a parent thinks that their child is up to it – by all means they can read 1984.

The left does not want to restrict age inappropriate content, and it does not want to put control of restrictions in the hands of parents. They want forced indoctrination of the young before they are ready to excercise critical judgement regarding the material they are exposed to.

      1. From a porn or sexual content standpoint, 1984, written back in the day, was pretty tame. Compared to today’s normalized availability of porn in the children’s school libraries, it would even register as objectionable to most parents.

What I perceive is the central damning objection the leftist have to Orwell’s 1984, is that it is an exacting prophesy of what we are seeing take place today in the daily news, heralding what is to come as a result of the systemic infiltration of the Marxist-Socialist leftist ideology into American societal infrastructure. Under the guise of “soft in the heart”, virtue signaling, they seek to prevail by instituting soft in the head policies establishing chaos throughout. Which, is the tried and true method of Marxist hegemony.

“Take it easy Big Joe, some of these people got sensitive feelings.”

        1. It’s obviously a case of you are what you read. The mind is a tool. Garbage in garbage out.

Personally, I have no more interest in anything coming from the left except building walls between myself and them. Sci fi dystopia- “Them”.

      2. “ The left does not want to restrict age inappropriate content, and it does not want to put control of restrictions in the hands of parents. They want forced indoctrination of the young before they are ready to excercise critical judgement regarding the material they are exposed to.”

That is false. The left does understand what age appropriate is. It is those on the right who make up stories to “prove” kids are getting porn on school libraries. Zealots will to to any length to prove their conspiracy addled minds that children are being exposed to the things they claim. Moms for Liberty have been caught using books that have never been on library shelves as examples of books used in schools. That’s why you don’t hear about them anymore. Prior book bans have been recinded after investigations have found none of the allegations have been true. It’s just another culture war issue brough out of thin air by those seeking control over everyone else’s choices.

3rd graders don’t care about books like 1984. These days they are more interested on content from their tablets and phones.

        1. ^^Hmmm, not a single citation to prove the any of the accusations?

If you’re in the 4th grade or above, what exactly is your eyes on personal experience with what ALL 3rd graders want to read? When I was in the 4th grade, I was reading about WWII. They didn’t allow porn in the school library back then, be it gender pandering porn or the good ole Larry Flint porn.

But as for the leftists accusing rational people of making up stories about it…?

Yeah, like the Iranians who a few years back attempted to make a thing out of denying the Holocaust ever took place. “It was all made up, all lies, no truth to it what-so-ever, there just were no death camps at all”. And then doubled down on it, until Putin jumped into the fray and told them to shut it! It was the Red Army that discovered the first death camps and they know full well they existed, they found them!

Yeah, if you can’t escape the truth, then just declare the truth to be all made up. Who says the world cannot be what you want it to be, just use your imagination to determine fact.

George Svelaz, you are a liar and one who should never be close to a school with young children. The pornographic books were proven on video. One example, a mother brought one of the books from the school’s library. She read from the book and showed some of the pictures. A young child providing a BJ to an adult and other pornography. The board, which wouldn’t get rid of such books, got the police to stop her from reading from it, saying that it was porn and didn’t belong in the meeting.

  6. So young to want to murder someone for what? Speaking to others.

The suspect in Charlie Kirk’s assassination has been identified as Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old Utah resident.

Law enforcement sources told Daily Mail that Robinson was taken into custody as the alleged assassin who killed Kirk at a rally at Utah Valley University in Utah on Wednesday.

The alleged killer confessed to his father Matt, who is a a 27-year veteran of the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, sources told Daily Mail. His father then contacted authorities and secured his son before he could be taken into custody.

    1. It sounds as though someone left him the gun and therefore the investigation is far from over. It is about time that antifa is declared a terrorist group.

      1. Hullbobby,

It is about time Antifa was recognized as a terrorist group. I posted here a couple days ago that I thought this assassination had the look of an Antifa hit. I recalled that in Portland they locked police officers in a building and set the building on fire. Thankfully the officers escaped but I wondered why the perpetrators weren’t charged with attempted murder. They have been protected too long because their violence was useful to someone.

Scott Adams wants much closer examination of the NGOs funding violence, including where their money originates and where it goes. Good idea.

I have to wonder if some of the money is coming from China or Russia. Our NGOs present a perfect opportunity to destroy a nation when foreign antagonists get involved.

NGOs need to be ripped open and carefully examined.

  7. Yesterday, on September 11th, I heard the words ‘it was a turning point’ in the history of America. Mr. Kirk’s choice of words to describe his efforts were also Turning Point, and boy oh boy, was he spot on!

  8. This problem started when the consultants told the Dems that they need to use violent words as a way to show that they have the “fight” in them. They were told to use fighting words and vulgarity as a way to highlight their “masculinity” because they are losing male voters by the truckload.

Any time you see some soy boy Democrat they are pretending to be tough guys. Watch as Swalwell, Chris Murphy, Newsom, Pritzker, Jeffries, Walz and even Schumer grab a mic they use words like punch, fight, battle sprinkled with the F word and the occasional scruffy beard to look tough.

As liberal policies attacked men, the military, police, ICE, college boys, straight men and women all the while defending criminals, open borders, DEI, Hamas, students attacking Jews and Iran their pollsters told them they needed to look tough. It is laughable.

      1. Hullbobby;s comment is only part of a complex picture, but it is insightfull – not dumb.

        Dermocrats are inauthentic.

Ther only thing worse than trying to sell bad ideas is shilling for bad ideas that you do not beleive wearing a costume that does not fit.

      2. Going by as Anonymous is the equivalence of wearing a verbal mask. It hides everything except your stupidity.

    1. HullBobby,
Well said and spot on. A Independent media, I thin it was Just The News, reported about the increase of vulgarity used by Democrats. And their non-thinking follower leftists really believe there is some kind of “we have to fight!” like war going on. Charlie Kirk was murdered for simply pointing out Democrat failed policies. He invited open, civil debates and when leftists tried and failed, losing the debate as they failed to prove their point in front of Kirk’s reason, facts and logic.

      1. One of the problems with trying to tune yourself via focus groups and consultants is that most people can read when it is FAKE.

        1. “ One of the problems with trying to tune yourself via focus groups and consultants is that most people can read when it is FAKE.”

No, they can’t. For example, yesterday there were “confirmed” reports that even you agreed were confirmed by the FBI after first saying no about inscriptions on the bullet casings about transgender and anti-fascist ideology. The source was allegedly an ATF official, now it is reported that Steve Crowder is being subpoenaed by the ATF. It’s obvious he started the rumor and that in turn led many of you to keep assuming and speculating the left was involved.

The real reporting was very different. I saw early on that it was fake purely because of how soon it was and how convenient the messaging seemed to be. I said we should be exercising caution, but no. I was already being used by outraged and hysterical right nuts as the proof they needed.

“ A senior law enforcement official with direct knowledge of the investigation cautioned that the report had not been verified by A.T.F. analysts, did not match other summaries of the evidence, and might turn out to have been misread or misinterpreted,”

          https://www.rawstory.com/charlie-kirk-shooter-questions-emblems/?utm_source=microsoft_global

It seems right-wing podcasters like Steven Crowder have been spreading leaked documents without verifying their authenticity and not really caring that it came from some ATF “agent who was not supposed to be leaking info in the first place. Once Croweder released the “memo” and started spreading around assumptions and speculation and the rest of the MAGA world latched on to it and ran with it fueling more anti-left sentiment. That was the purpose. To keep fueling your anger, your rage, your belief, that the left had something to do with it. Even Trump believed it enough to state “We need to beat the hell out of radical leftist lunatics”.

There are those within the MAGA sphere and the right like Steve Bannon, Watters, etc who use these unverified rumors and incite hate and calls for violent revenge against the left. We know how easy it is to convince right-wing nuts of anything as long as you use words that will immediately trigger their emotions and “common sense” to conclude that it has to be true because Trump said it or the FBI said it without any corroboration. These are people who don’t want to think any harder than they have to. So they take anything from right-leaning sources at face value instead of exercising some skepticism. Smarter people tend to be skeptical of any information coming out so fast and without corroborating information.

The rumors spread through the internet move FAST and when officials don’t catch it early enough or insist nothing has been verified they become the “truth” to those already convinced by their conspiracy theory-rotted brains. That is how Trump manipulates the majority of his followers. He relies on their poor education and gullibility.

  9. The British surrender at Yorktown took us from mere rebellion to successful revolution. We The People built a government around the individual, not the collective. We were first. And free speech is the prow of our ship of state. Europe is saying “Speech is nice, but the Internet gives you too much power. We can’t control the narrative”. Everything l’ve read about Charlie Kirk says that he used the right of speech to discuss, inform and persuade. Peacefully. Successfully. Charlie’s way with speech saves us the trouble of forcing another Yorktown on somebody.

    1. Don’t forget the right to “private property,” which is right behind the prow, essential, and so inflamed Karl Marx that he was compelled to abolish it fundamentally and utterly.
      ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

“The theory of the Communists may be summed up in the single sentence: Abolition of private property.”

      – Karl Marx, The Communist Manifesto

  10. Good luck, Professor. This is the important stuff, and that people are now being killed for it is unimaginable. It’s madness. Take good care of yourself.

And to everyone else: it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see who are the unhinged and brimming with hatred here. Let us not be cowed or even bothered by them.

Hoping the shooter is caught alive and Antifa go down right along with him.

    1. They got him James, a 22 year old whose father was in LE. A Utah student, so now there are two young lives lost…I hope the dumb ba$tard is awakening to what he has done and the consequences are.

        1. Here’s a hint for the slow short bus riders…I’m tired of policing you.
I fought the —- and the —- won.

  11. I envy you Professor. I had a chance with my wife and friends to take a tour in Eastern Europe several years ago. We visited Budapest, Vienna, Prague and Salzburg. My favorite was Prague and especially the older part. Quaint but beautiful. Great shops and friendly people. You could actually buy a whole suit of armor and I was so tempted but common sense prevailed. This was about 2007 and Eastern Europe was still finding its way into democracy and free speech and we had many talks with occupants of the cities of Prague and Budapest about how the change was going.
I lived in Mannheim Germany in 1956 and listened on the radio as the Hungarian Revolt was taking place. (My father was in the army and was on high alert) In 2007 I was able to stand in the Square in Budapest in front of the Parliament building and got to see what I had heard on the radio nearly 50 yrs previously.. Spine tingling.
But Prague was the keystone of the tour. Love to return some day. I hear the word Prague and I immediately think of defenestration.
They have had their challenges over the centuries with self government and free speech and trying to maintain them.

      1. He is a retired MD. He has lived a long, interesting life. Much more than you. His comments are insightful, interesting and at times entertaining. Your comments are none of that. Your comments are simplistic, moronic and lack any depth.

      2. Anonymous 8:49AM-No I’m not a fossil, that would imply something long dead and then buried in an ancient sea bed.. Kind of like your comments. You seem to have trouble understanding the outlook of people who have had a life in multiple countries, multiple states, over several decades, with both an academic education as well as on the job education doing things I was never trained for but was interested in and so I did it after teaching myself or learning from others. You simply can’t comprehend lives that do not fit in your little cookie cutter universe.

    1. GEB,
It might be difficult for a youth to imagine the history that occurred in these very places! I was fortunate enough (50 years ago this year) to spend three days in the DDR, West Berlin and an entire day and evening in East Berlin. There were still bombed out neighborhoods that testified to the brutality of the final days of the Third Reich thirty years earlier.

The folks of the Eastern Block who endured and eventually prevailed were extremely tough. Some may not realize that West Berlin (The American Sector) was deep inside East Germany. The Berlin Wall was not just a wall. It was wire fencing, a minefield, dotted with guard towers and more.

Now, war and the winds of war are starting to blow again.

      1. E.M.-Well said. When I lived in Mannheim, a major manufacturing center, in 1954-1956, there were also still ruins from the bombing in WW2. They were disconcerting to see but disappearing fast. Of course, we had my father there, and he could tell us about the fighting through France, the liberation of Paris, the Siegfried lline, the Hurtgen Forest and finally The Bulge where he was wounded and out of action for 6 months in the hospital and rehab. Strangely he bore no ill will towards the German Soldiers he served with in NATO who were trying to kill him just 10 years before. He was also a very strong proponent of free speech and political freedom because he had spilled his own blood to protect it. He did not care for generals too much except for Gen Eisenhower. Though he retired as a Lt Col he was very much an NCO in outlook. His security clearance was quite high because of his expertise in communications, teletype and cryptography so he was forbidden from traveling to Berlin. The East Germans and KGB liked to occasionally kidnap personnel with high security clearances.

    1. Oh? Now all together, start howling and screaming! Scream for his blood conservatives. Louder, LOUDER!
Kill his family and friends. Destroy the employer. Burn down the university. Destroy anyone and everyone who came in contact with him.
Remember you are Gods’ chosen people.
Gotta love conservatism. It so exhilarating.

      1. Really Gigi? Who has a history of doing all those things? And not for murdering people but for the simple reason of telling a joke or opposing men beating women. Who burns cities supporting criminals and make idols of murderers?
I guess you are the “influencer” assigned to Prof Turley by Chorus, how much are they paying you? LOL

      2. The sound you actually hear is cries for justice.
Conservatives are not calling to kill anyone.
They DO seek to destroy they toxic culture that lead to this.
No one is calling for burning down the university.
But this WILL increase the impetus to end DEI everywhere – but especially on college campuses.

This will effect the legal fights over Trump cutting the funding of universities that engage in racial and religious discrimination. It will weaken the resolve of lower court left wing nuts and increase the understanding of the supreme court as to why the govenrment can not fund Hate.

      3. Project much ?

We have seen the videos and heard the laughter and celebration of left wing nuts over Kirks assassination and the calls for more.

You have shown people who you are.
        Thank you for that.

The rest of us are showing you who we are.

        There will be justice.

You have empowered the rest of us to end government entanglement in the edifice of hate and racism that you have built.

      4. I’m sure that when none of this happens, when there ere no riots, no burning of courthouses and no looting like after the death of George Floyd you will be the first to apologize.

        1. That is a good one. Progressives apologizing? We can dare to dream that some day they might actually admit that they were fools and wrong, but at my age, I think that I shall be dead and buried before that happens, if it ever does.
Thank you, yes, we are different than they are. Thank God for that.

      5. No one is howling and screaming. What we want is for him to be charged, given a fair trail by a jury of his peers, all the evidence presented and if found guilty, sentenced to prison.
Everything else you describe is nothing more than your delusions.

  12. More hate from the left.
    _________________
Phoenix Suns and Carolina Panthers FIRE Leftists SCUMBAGS for MOCKING Charlie Kirk’s DEATH!

    These people are sick.

    1. If anyone is spewing hate its you. You spew hate in each any every comment here. What is your point? Are you aware of what you’re doing?

      1. Dustoff reports the latest news, states the obvious (that leftists cheering the death are sick) and you say he is spewing hate. T Moore, you are an idiot.

          1. Hullbobby is no fool. His characterization is accurate. Those are headlines.

So we can infer, then, that you are upset that Dustoff used the pejorative SCUMBAGS to describe people who publicly choose to mock, trivialize and dehumanize a defenseless man who was assassinated.

Would you be less upset if, rather than SCUMBAGS, he described them as DEPLORABLE and IRREDEMABLE? That’s the phrase the Democrat candidate for President, Hillary Clinton, views many Americans. Or how about GARBAGE? That’s the phrase the Democrat President of the United States, Joe Biden, used to describe people he was elected to govern.

Those Democrat leaders are modelling behavior they expect from followers. So why are you apparently so offended by the slang phrase SCUMBAGS by an internet commenter but you presumable could care less that Democrat leaders use hateful and ugly language to describe American citizens who don’t support them?

              1. HullBobby would never comment as anon. He has too much self-respect to do so.
And what that anon stated was correct.

            1. The anti-American, radical extremist, illegal, and unconstitutional communist Teachers Union supports this egregious statement of abject and disgusting hate.

I wonder if the Founders supported this immorality and treason in 1789?

      2. Your remarks are a perfect example of what is wrong with the left.

        Do you reject Satan?
        And all his works?
        And all his empty promises?

There is nothing wrong with hating evil.
There is nothing wrong with hating those who murder others
There is nothing wrong with hating those who do so over ideology
There is nothing wrong with hating those that celebrate evil, murder, assassination.

        Conservatives are demanding Justice.
They likely will get some, but not enough.
The efforts to defund left wing racism in colleges will be significantly strengthened.

      1. Dustoff, I’m not a lib but a registered Republican since 1980.
You’re always the first to spew hate here. So who’s the hater huh?

        1. ATS – I could care less what you are registered as.

The hatred of actual evil is good.

When you call someone a scumbag you are demanding judgement of them AND of you.
Dustoff is correct – those who celebrate assassination are scumbags.
That is true regardless of your politics.
Those who practice the thinly disguised racism of DEI are scumbags.

When you criticize others their credibility and YOURS are on the line.

Only the stupid will judge you for hating evil.

But if you claim something is evil and you are wrong – then YOU will be subject to harsh judgement.

You make this fallacious claim that all criticism of an ideology are hatred – they are not.
The proper response to criticism is to THINK. To modify your position if it does not hold up or defend it if it does.
That is examplified by Charlie Kirk.

Criticism can but does not usually rise to hatred. But even when it does – the proper response to evil is hatred.

But when your criticism rises to hatred – you had better be right.

          Hating assassins is good
Hating those who celebrate assassins is good.

Dustoff did not make them scumbags there own despicable actions did.

Your attacking Dustoff for doing so is tantamount to defending evil.

  13. “Assassination culture is spreading on the left. Forty-eight percent of liberals say it would be at least somewhat justified to murder Elon Musk. Fifty-five percent said the same about Donald Trump.”
    Charlie Kirk

  14. I still love your work, but I again am disappointed by your continued equalizing of left- and right-wing violence. Yes, we have the Minnesota assassinations of Democrats. That was by one person on one night. Although we can search and find other examples of right-wing violence, it doesn’t compare to the constant attacks and rhetoric on the left. There is the demonization of Trump (foremost) including calls to get rid of him, even murdering him, the policy of confronting Republicans in public, incitement of violence (e.g., Maxine Waters, Charles Schumer, AOC, Kamala Harris and others) attacks on conservatives at their homes (e.g., Tucker Carlson), the two assassination attempts on Trump, the attempted murder of Scalise, the murder of Charlie Kirk, 500-600 violent riots in 2020 which included arson, multiple murders and horrifying assaults on cops, the continual defacing of property, wholesale vandalism and looting which drives businesses out of blue cities, frequent assaults on white people by blacks and the defense of it by the left as justified, and the like. Violence is frequently excused by the left. It is encouraged by them. It is not excused by the right. It is their policy. There’s a big difference. I’m not even an R or a conservative. But I notice the difference. You should too. Don’t think by not highlighting the difference the left will not demonize you too. Of course they will (they already have). You have a big voice now. Please use it. We don’t get a chance to go back when it’s too late.

    1. Well said. I couldn’t agree more. When the leadership of the largest political party in the world (and their donors, and their A-listers) speak and censor speech (witness the Disinformation Governance Board) the way Democrats do, it’s palpably different than bad actors in any other party.

    2. Violence is always justified by those whe perpetrate it. I am unsure why you want to ignore examples perpetrated by even a small minority at the implied expense of equality under the law. One wonders, if there were more such murders by the right, whether you would change your position. The reason Turley has a big voice is, among other things, that he sees that clearly.

      1. Have you seen the polling from the left. They say it’s OK to harm people they disagree with.
You libs have a mental issue

        1. The reactions to Kirk’s death from so-called caring human beings actually celebrating his murder is very disturbing especially from teachers. I don’t ever recall conservatives of any stripe celebrating the murder of a Democratic liberal. How do you ever assimilate with these vile people. There was an article yesterday describing students laughing at Kirk video when he was shot AND wanted the same thing for Trump! We live in a sick country

          1. When any even like this happens where there is a possibility that the perpitrator is on the right, conservatives hold their breath urging causion until the facts all come out – and nearly always the peritrator turns out to be a disturbed and broken individual. Sometimes with right aspects of their ideology sometimes with left – but usually with a muddy amalgam – because they are disturbed people.

What all but a very tiny few on the right DON:T do, is take to social media to celebrate.

      2. “Violence is always justified by those whe perpetrate it.”
        Often True

“I am unsure why you want to ignore examples perpetrated by even a small minority at the implied expense of equality under the law.”
Raise those examples if you wish. But Kirk was assassinated yesterday. And a significant portion of the left has been celebrating. We do not know the assassin – he could still prove to be another Hinkley – just a disturbed person who did something evil for reason that are impossible to make sense out of.

Bu few of those celebrating are delusional in the way that most high profile killers are.
The post assassination celebration does not speak of the killers motivation. But the poor character of the millions who are celebrating.

“One wonders, if there were more such murders by the right, whether you would change your position.”
But there aren’t. Further as I noted above most “political” assassination attempts are NOT truly political.
They are perpetrated by delusional people who were going to do something evil.
We should decry them all – but the FACT is that contra Turley – our volatile political discourse does not cause delusional people to do bad things. At the very most it picks targets for them – and even that is a stretch.
Few of these delusional killers have an ideology that is clearly right or left or even internally consistent.

The truly disturbing facet of this is NOT the assassination, or the assassin – unless this actually turns out to be an organized plot – which is not likely. The window into the soul of a political ideology is in the response.

Far far too many on the left are cheering.
That does not happen but for an incredibly tiny portion of the right when the situation is reversed.

    3. Yet YOU failed to post any proof. But if you wish to look at the terror coming from the left. Not hard to see.

        1. Trying to kill Prez Trump twice… BLM riots that burned cities and killed others.
Plus ANTIFA.. that the dems supported.
I brought my (receipts) how about you!

    4. Turley is still a hater mongering socialist no matter what words he uses. He pretends to be neutral, but as anon just stated Turley always ALWAYS stands with socialists, marxists and communists by always blaming conservatives for the real violence in the USA. I am not a spotlight addict, book pushing author, constitutional lawyer and law professor, but it is clear to me Turley has the liberal brain disease. That much I can see.

      1. So are you okay with Kirk being murdered like so many liberals? Make no mistake about it, they are ecstatic and want the same thing to happen to Trump. These are very sick people.

      2. Why would you read a column daily by a man you say has a brain disease? You are a troll…and probably a paid troll.

      3. Turley is an actual liberal. The left today is not liberal and has not been for more than a decade.
There are major core values that separate liberals from todays left – free speech being a major one of those.

Turley is slowly shifting to a more libertarian ideology – but he has a ways to go.
We should not be attacking him for getting many things right.

    5. ” I again am disappointed by your continued equalizing of left- and right-wing violence”
Your criticism is correct – there is no partity that of the left is worse.

“Yes, we have the Minnesota assassinations of Democrats.”
No one celebrated that. If that was actually political assassination – it should be seriously condemned by everyone – and it was. No one was claiming it was a good thing.

But even the case that it was political assassination is weak. The perp had a long history of association with left wing groups. There is a single person who claims he was a trump supporter.
I have not followed this since his arrest but the “Minnesota assassination” looks more like the over whelming majority of heinous acts committed by people with very serious mental health issues.

Anonymous posted a long list of leftist assassinations and attempts.
MOST of those were the delusional acts of disturbed people.

Turley repeatedly tries to make the case that “rage rhetoric” drives political violence.
I am not sure that is true, and I am definitely sure that is not a foundation for further censorship.
Whether it is the unabomber or the el passo shooter or the gabbards shooter – these disturbed people were going to do SOMETHING very bad. At best “rage rhetoric” selected their targets – though even that is difficult to assess as MOST of those had delusions that were an amalgam of left and right and pure nonsense.

We may yet discover that the Kirk assassin is just another seriously delusional person – like John Hinkley Jr.
But even if that proves to be the case – massive numbers of those on the left are actively CELEBRATING Kirks assassination.

To the extent that happens at all on the right – it either happens silently or only on the very far fringes.
This hateful blood culture is mainstream on the left.

This affinity for Blood has ALWAYS been a defining attribute of the left.
From the french revolution, to Stalin and Mao and Pol Pot copious bloodshed targetting political disent is a halmark of the left. The farther left the greater the bloodshed.

It is not the political rhetoric that concerns me. Despite claims to the contrary – that has been part of US politics since Washington.

It is the fact that so many on the left are celebrating this.

  15. Congrats for Being there, Professor Turley.. Perfect Timing for your subject materials, especially in light of the surreal assasinaton of Charlie Kirk ! We are so fortunate to have you ‘representing’ the Best that the USA has to offer in enlightenment… You will rock! (..and hopefully rock the EU out of their draconian sleep on Free Speech…..) Blessings for a treendous Speech and experience!
