Antigone 2.0: Liberals Denounce and Destroy Memorials for Charlie Kirk

Throughout his short life, Charlie Kirk enraged many by exposing the hate and hypocrisy of the left in higher education. What is astonishing is that he continues to do it even in death.

As millions mourn his murder around the world, any expressions of sorrow or respect for Kirk are triggering some on the left. Liberals have been arrested for stomping on or burning memorials to Kirk and others have taken to social media to denounce or mock people expressing regrets over the loss. A courthouse memorial was vandalized while a mural to Kirk had to be restored after an attack.

Former Gawker editor Elizabeth Spiers wrote an essay for Nation under the headline: “Charlie Kirk’s Legacy Deserves No Mourning.”

Some of the loudest voices have come from academia.

University of California Irvine lecturer Larry Tenney went on the liberal safe space site, BlueSky, to rave in all caps: “WE KNOW WHO CHARLIE KIRK WAS…”F**k off America” “F**k off Trump” and “F**k all you motherfuckers, idgag about any of you.” (For the non-profane literate, “idgag” means “I don’t give a f**k”).

What is clear from the diatribe is that Kirk also knew exactly who people like Tenney are. He knew that even his appearance or that of his group on campus would trigger many in academia.

For the speech-intolerant, any invitation to debate issues like abortion or transgender policies is intolerable. You are expected to accept their positions as righteous or face their rage. What was even more annoying was the fact that Kirk was winning the debate, young people trapped in the academic echo chamber were showing up en masse as they did at the rally where he died.

Faculty converted higher education into the current echo chamber and then treated students as a captive audience. When given a choice, many rushed to hear alternative views.

Fordham School of Law Professor John Pfaff joined the chorus of those objecting to expressions of respect or regret. Most tellingly, the sin that disqualified Kirk was that he implemented Professor Watchlist, a list of professors deemed the most intolerant and partisan on campuses, so that students could avoid their classes. Pfaff posted:

“Just a reminder Kirk’s organization established the Professor Watchlist, which even the NYT framed as a threat to academic freedom. I don’t get why ppl keep describing him as a good-faith debater. One can say ‘Kirk should not have been murdered’ (which is true!) without engaging in hagiography.”

In Pfaff’s siloed world, the New York Times is apparently so conservative that it is remarkable that “even the NYT” criticized the list. The comment only served to confirm that the relevant scale of comparison for academics today runs exclusively from the left to the far left.

At the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, Anthropology professor Tamar Shirinian. Tamar Shirinian wrote:

“The world is better off without him in it. Even those who are claiming to be sad for his wife and kids….like, his kids are better off living in a world without a disgusting psychopath like him and his wife, well, she’s a sick fuck for marrying him so I dont care about her feelings.”

Syracuse University political science assistant professor Jenn M. Jackson  announced “him dying this ways seems both ironic and in line with his own politics.”

Others warned that anyone expressing sorrow was only self-identifying for future lists of fascists.

Martin Pfeiffer, PH.D candidate at the University of New Mexico, warned, “Charlie Kirk was a vicious, hateful fascist and white supremacist. To say anything else is a lie and, quite frankly, fascist collaboration.”

Across the country, efforts by a few professors to get their colleagues to sign letters expressing condolences or concerns over the murder were derailed by some of the same passive-aggressive ideologues who engaged in pearl-clutching objections over divisive positions.

What is most striking about these academics is the total lack of self-awareness, even as they adopt the very intolerance of historical villains in their classes.

The response of these professors is reminiscent of the Greek tragedy Antigone by Sophocles in 441 BCE. In the story, the two sons of Oedipus fight to the death for the throne of Thebes. The tyrant ruler Creon ordered that his favorite of the brothers, Eteocles,  be buried with honors while banning anyone from mourning or burying the other brother, Polynices.

To be left on the ground unburied and unmourned was considered a great dishonor and sacrilege. It was too much for his sister, Antigone, who defied the tyrant and buried her brother. For that, Antigone was walled up in a cave and committed suicide.

Kirk’s critics will allow him to be buried, of course, but some cannot tolerate mourning his passing any more than they could tolerate his speaking.

I have opposed calls for firing academics making hateful comments outside of their official duties or accounts. Charlie spent his life opposing cancel campaigns and censorship.

However, it is crushingly ironic to see media and faculty suddenly outraged about cancel campaigns after years of ignoring the purging of conservatives from campuses.  Most faculty crying foul today have been entirely silent when conservatives, including Kirk, were targeted in the past.

Faculty have spent decades purging conservatives and libertarians from departments, leaving higher education mired in orthodoxy and intolerance. It is the education version of what Sophocles wrote in Antigone: “A city which belongs to just one man is no true city.” In the same way, a university which belongs to only liberal idelogy is no true university.

  1. “Faculty converted higher education into the current echo chamber and then treated students as a captive audience.”

The problem started with university/college administrators as far back as the 60s when students were allowed to shout down speakers or even get their appearance canceled. This evolved into more administrative wrongdoing such as safe spaces, taking over buildings, etc. Those students grew up and are now in faculty positions (especially in the liberal arts departments) where they continue to practice the cancel culture that administrators permitted to fester for decades. Permit wrongdoing and wrongdoing will continue to occur.

    1. SDS folks not only shut down classes, they also managed to shut down the University of Cincinnati three weeks before the end of the quarter. Iknow because I was a junior there that year (1970).

      1. Well, this is a prime example why the progessor watchlist is such a good thing. I would definitely avoid classes from nut jobs like these.

        1. General comment

The left’s tools suffer HPD, Histrionic personality disorder. Social media and academia have produced it.

Hate speech is emotional speech of a negative kind. It has by design been used to control a group within a culture. It becomes frenzied and can be used to kill targets.

Back on earth the media did not engage in hate speech knowing the outcome. It’s my recollection that hate speech in journalism was all but banned as an ethical matter.

Kirk invaded the colleges stealthily with an intelligent counter argument and he used emotional speech as salt. Someone had to as Patel crushed Schiff in the same way. Republicans aren’t doormats for the left to wipe their feet.

I enjoyed the coupling of Antigone and the Kirk funeral rites, PT.

Remove emotionalism from the left and they’re left with ashes.

          1. Aren’t newspapers accredited by some entity, FCC? Aren’t schools accredited or discredited? These brainwashing mills might suffer a lack of accreditation.

The Kirk killer is one of many and the signals to kill are peppered throughout the landscape. What’s been produced here is a Hamas type of serial killer. It must be recognized swiftly and stopped. These teachers and politicians are tools, as well. Biden and bullseye, then the boy goes into action.

No, hate speech can’t be prosecuted but hate crimes can be prosecuted. Among other charges, Kirk’s killer committed a hate crime.

  2. Jonathan: Enough with the eulogizing of Charlie Kirk. He didn’t deserve it in life and he doesn’t deserve it in death. The important news involves K$h Patel’s disastrous performance before the Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday. It was a s..t show in which Patel screamed at Senator Schiff, calling him a “baffoon” because he didn’t want to answer pertinent questions. Several aspects of Patel’s testimony clearly showed he is unfit to be the Director of the FBI.

First, Palsely claimed it was the “diligent” work of the FBI working with local authorities that led to the arrest of Tyler Robinson. FACT CHECK: Robinson was not “captured”. He was turned in by family members. Then Patel tried to defend his public comments that 2 “suspects” had been identified that he later had to retract. Patel claimed he was being “transparent” with the public. FACT CHECK: The FBI protocols require no public statements about possible suspects be made when a manhunt is underway. Patel violated those protocols because he was seeking publicity. And he did that while dining at a 5-star restaurant!

Second, GOP Senator Kennedy asked Patel whether he could identify any other person, other than Epstein, who benefitted from the trafficking of minor girls for sex. Patel responded that he found no “credible evidence” that anyone else was involved in the pedophile scheme. Patel made that statement even though he admitted he had not reviewed all of the Epstein files. And Patel’s statement was contradicted by victim sworn statements that others were involved, including Alan Dershowitz, Prince Andrew, DJT and others. Kennedy was probably disappointed that Patel would not name Bill Clinton!

Patel is still refusing to turn over all the Epstein files for one reason. He is trying to protect DJT. Patel’s performance before the Senate Judiciary Committee show he is way over his skies. He lied to the Committee and showed he has no business being the Director of the FBI. Even Republicans are questioning whether Patel is the right person for the job. Fox News is backing off its support for Patel. The only question is how long will Patel will last until DJT pulls the plug.

Only one problem. Patel knows where the bodies are buried. He no doubt seen the photos recovered from Epstein’s safe. Michael Wolf, who wrote the biography of DJT and spent a lot of time with Epstein because the pedophile wanted Wolf to write a biography of him, says Epstein showed him a number of photos–including two photos of DJT surrounded by topless minor girls. In another photo Wolf says it depicts DJT with girls around him laughing and pointing to a stain on the front of DJT’s trousers. Not a good look for DJT.

This is why DJT will have to think long and hard about firing Patel because the FBI Director knows his boss is all over the Epstein files. There is a lot of speculation DJT will find another cushy job for Patel where he is out of sight and quiet.

    1. Dennis McIntyre posted: “Jonathan: Enough with the eulogizing of Charlie Kirk. He didn’t deserve it in life and he doesn’t deserve it in death.” And then ran away to hide.

      1. You are the last person who posts here who can claim any credibility to offer opinions on character. Smearing a murder victim killed by someone like you is proof of that.

      2. As you never agree with your host, Professor Turley, why do you torture yourself to come here to read and post? You can’t afford to host your own blog?

3 You’ll never forgive Patel for uncovering and exposing the Obama/Clinton/CNC criminal enterprise, The Trump-Russia Dossier.

      BBBUUUTTTTT….. MUH TRUMPPPP!!!

    2. Disastrous? Hardly, lots of Dem acting., especially Schiff got a hefty does of reality.
But you fail to note that the Dems showed the public that HATE is alive and well in the Dem Party.
That “credible evidence” is a credible statement. You certainly didn’t see the documents, so you have no idea what’s in them. Your just another liar using suppositions.

    3. Turley is not Eulogizing Kirk – he is calling out left wing nuts like you whose hatred is so great
that the violate the ancient precept De mortuis nil nisi bonum dicendum est,

Do not speak ill of the dead.

Your conduct and your abysmally vile compatriots is the focus – not Kirk.

You have made yourself the story.

You leave little doubt that you are morally responsible for Kirk’s assassination,
And that we shoudl expect more of the same repugnant violence from you.

I am 100% supportive of all efforts – including Turley’s to give you as large a platform as possible to keep showing all of us exactly who you are.

    4. What part of what Patel said about Schiff is not True ?

Tyler Robbinson was caught within 33 hrs – the FBI appears to be doing fine.

“FACT CHECK: Robinson was not “captured”. He was turned in by family members.”
Because he was publicly identified within hours.

“FACT CHECK: The FBI protocols require no public statements about possible suspects be made when a manhunt is underway.”
      False. and stupidly so.

The FBI did nearly exactly the same things during the Mangione manhunt – just more slowly and with less resources.

Patel WAS OPENLY seeking publicity – both to Identify and catch Robinson and to cast the FBI in a good light – the FBI has alot of reputation repair it must do with large parts of this country.

“he did that while dining at a 5-star restaurant!”
As I am sure did Schiff.

In your Epstein rant – Kennedy used the word Benefited
The people you listed did not benefit from Epsteins trafficking.
Derschowitz was one of Epsteins lawyers.
The others are people who were investigated for their involvement with Epstein.

Neither the FBI nor DOJ are permitted to publicly dump investigative information on people who are not charged.

Even left wing nut judges in two states have ordered that.

“Patel is still refusing to turn over all the Epstein files for one reason.”
TWO separate courts with democrat judges have correctly ordered the DOJ anjd FBI not to release the material.

    5. Only an iudiot who beleived the pee tape was real would believe that Epstein material implicates Trump.

For 8 years DOJ and FBI leaked anything they possibly could that was damaging to Trump.
They leaked lies if that would harm Trump.

Micheal Wolf is about 10000 times less credible than Christopher Steele.
If the FBI had damaging material regarding Trump.
Serial liar and leaker Comey would have leaked it.
Mueller would have leaked it and prosecuted it.
The Biden DOJ would have leaked it and prosecuted it.

The one person we can be sure is NOT in FBI records on Epstein is Trump
if he was – the information would have leaked long ago.

One of the benefits of the lying stupid attacks on Trump,
is that people KNOW you have run out of bullets.

    6. The president is free to dismiss Patel if he wishes.

But I see no evidence of that.
No one in the Trump administration will ever be fired for pissing over Sen. Schiff.

It serves the interests of the Trump administration to call out revolting people like Schiff at every oportunity.

  3. The last line in this column is the most powerful. “Liberal” education is not consistent with the hysterical intolerance of the people running American colleges today.

  4. re “idgag”. I’m literate, but hardly non-profane. However, I cannot understand why that would not be “idgaf”? Was the latter the original term, which was banned after its meaning was widely understood?

  5. Frankly I did not know about the Professor Watchlist. Although I have not been in college in some time I would have love to have had that available when I was in college. Many professors were good, some excellent to superior and also some who were snobs, elitist, condescending, totally unhelpful, and placed themselves on Mt Olympus or higher.
Some have criticized the watchlist and I ask why?
For decades now we, as physicians, have had our patients fill out forms to critique our services, from front office, admitting desk, nurse care and physician. Often it is about keeping to schedules, showing interest in the patient and their needs and were they fulfilled, were the nurses attentive and helpful, was the doctor understanding and did they deal with the problems. It was fairly comprehensive.
This grading was not welcomed at first but it just became part of your job. Read, pay attention, assess the low parts of the scores and try to do better. Also the internet scores came later. I read every critique I got and searched the internet to see what was reported on me. It was worth it and people tried to do better. It can be humbling but I never met a physician who could deal with a little more humility.
Some days were not good and you were not at your best and would have loved to pull back a comment or conversation but that is called growth. You learn or you fail. No big secrets there.
I had many professors as patients over the years and my experience was that most were good people and tried to pass on their knowledge but we are in the heart of the midwest and things are different here.

    1. The watchlist is cancel culture. It’s McCarthyism. And most importantly it was often based on inaccurate information.

        1. It is not “hate”.
Do you read product reviews before you buy a car ?

We did not have a watchlist in the 70’s – but I ALWAYS checked on the professors that were teaching me before taking a class. And I selected different professors when the choice existed and the professor was not a good fit.

          1. John Say,
I would not want to be in the same room as those people who are celebrating Charlie Kirk’s death. They are unhinged and I see them as a possible threat to others around them resorting to violence if they were triggered.

      1. So Consumer reports is evil ?

The Watchlist is free speech – just like Boycotts – which the left loves to do – just not very effectively.

The problem with left wing “cancel culture” is that you lie – as people are seeing here.

    2. Hey quit with the autobiographical/philosophical nonsense. Your personal life does not interest anyone. Tell it to your grandkids. Stick to the subject matter.

    3. There were online ratings for college and university professors when I went back to university for another degree to pursue another field of work. That was just after Y2K, so before Obama, systemic racism, woke, trannies, Antifa, and Charlie Kirk. The ratings were mostly students anonymously rating the quality of their lectures, whether they were easy or hard markers, etc. The ratings were free form, so there certainly was the ability for students to write they were unfair, biased, etc. But in general, the focus was on their performance as teachers and lecturers.

    4. GEB,
      Good comment.
Just a few months ago I went for my annual checkup. Next day got a request to rate the doctor and my experience.

  6. Conservatives seem bent on making Charlie Kirk into some kind of national hero. He was just another conservative debater and influencer. Almost immediately after his death conservative lawmakers were proposing to allow his body to lie in state at the Capitol building, build statues, and now make the day of his death Charlie Kirk day. I get the legitimate mourning and grieving over his death, but come on, some of the suggestions and ideas are way over the top ridiculous. It’s almost as if they are trying to compensate for something.

    1. the same reason there are countless monuments of JFK, who represented something special to millions of Americans, but cut down before he could fulfill his promise.

    2. “He was just another conservative debater and influencer”

Now there’s a pathetic attempt to damn Mr. Kirk with faint praise – he’s just one of the many in the herd! What shortcoming are you hoping to compensate for?

If he’s just another person, name some of his peers – people who like Kirk who could go into colleges and universities and sit down and debate and encourage young adults in those schools cum brainwashing facilities to get involved in politics and be unafraid to be public about what they believe in. Peers of Kirk who could do that in the face of overwhelming hostility and hate as he did.

Is some of the response to his murder excessive? Yes, a bit. But the attempts like yours to dismiss him and the influence he built with young Americans, to encourage them to embrace traditional American values instead of the university’s cultural Marxism and hate of America are laughable, even contemptible.

Kirk’s influence with young Americans, and older Americans, is only going to grow stronger. Support for him has become international.

You on the other hand, will have about as much influence on America as your post earns you. You will never be anything more influential than a screen username attached to posts forgotten within hours of being published – well done.

    3. We can only hope that Kirk becomes one of many conservative debaters.
We can only hope that this assassination inspires many to follow in his footsteps and
using free speech purge the cancer of left wing woke ideology from the planet.

Tyler Robinson did not assassinate Kirk.
He wrote the obituary for his own beleifs.

  7. Professor Turley,

Do you really think someone, who supports compelled speech in public classrooms, which is a foundational part of a major religion’s holy text, is an advocate for free speech?

Charlie Kirk supported laws that require public classrooms to display the Ten Commandments. That is not a pro-free speech position. He was an advocate for conservative speech and Christian religious instruction in public schools.

    1. So, that is what he thought. Disagree all you want but he wasn’t a fascist for believing that. He should have had the right to talk about it and have dialogue to “change his mind”.
Finally, there is great ignorance of the definitions of words, ie fascist.

      1. “He was not a hatemonger as Liberals have shown themselves to be. And Conservatives too. Look around here.”

Ah! There’s a fine piece of false moral equivalency that arrived dressed in an equally false Whataboutism!

    2. The Ten Commandments are part of multiple religions.
They are also the foundation for western law.

      Honor thy father and mother.
      Thou shall not murder.
      Thou shall not commit adultery.
      Thou shall not steal.
Thou shall not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
Thou shall not covet thy neighbor’s possessions.
Thou shall not covet thy neighbors wife.

While a few commandments are obviously Theist – in the broadest sense.
They are no more so that “In God We Trust” which is on our money.

    3. Ano
harlie Kirk supported laws that require public classrooms to display the Ten Commandments. That is not a pro-free speech position. He was an advocate for conservative speech and Christian religious instruction in public schools.

Provide proof or it’s a lie.

Frankly I have no issue with the Ten Commandments. Most students wouldn’t even notice it

  8. Don’t believe me, check it out….

a 2024 report from a research arm of the Department of Justice itself noted that “[s]ince 1990, far-right extremists have committed far more ideologically motivated homicides than far-left or radical Islamist extremists.

    1. That would be Merrick Garland and his pals, who considered conservatives Catholics and parents of school children to be terrorists. Just saying.

    2. “Don’t believe me, check it out…. a 2024 report from a research arm of the Department of Justice”

That would be the DoJ whose boss was Biden, who gave us that red soaked and staged Stalinist lecture where he told Americans and the world that Republicans were fascists and extremists who wanted to destroy America? The one whose DoJ targeted parents, traditional Catholics, political adversaries, etc?

The ones who were investigating Charlie Kirk and Turning Point – instead of far-left Antifa domestic terrorists and radical Islamist extremists.

I believe you about as much as I believe that DoJ was unbiased rather than serving as the STASI for Biden and Obama before him.

    3. No one beleives the Biden DOJ.
These are the same people that ultimately had their jobs numbers adjusted down by something like 4M over the course of 2 years.

I would also note the 1990 date. That is so that the OKC bombing can be included.
McVeigh his motivations clear – it was in response to the FBI misconduct at Ruby Ridge and Wacco.
McVeigh was at war with the Clinton FBI which WAS out of control.
OKC was not political in the left right sense. It was more actual antifascit.

I am not defending McVeigh – just pointing out the massive ideological problem.

There were LOTS of people who were revolted by the FBI and ATF targeting of various fringe groups that had not actually done anything illegal, and were just virulently anti government.

Whether it was Cults like the Davidians or various militia groups, universally these groups were DEFENSIVE – waiting for the govenrment to come after them.

Clinton was stupid enough to prove they had something to actually worry about.
And McVeigh made clear that it is unwise to kick sleeping dogs.

    4. There are so many left wing nut attacks that we have already forgotten the Trans massacre of school children in church hat happened very recently. Or the school in Tennessee. or ….

  9. The nation has become safe harbor for a segment of humanity with broken minds. These killers are nothing but cowards, one shot a man in the back, the other hid on a rooftop 150 yards away, yet another struck a little girl from behind with a knife. All of their victims unarmed and vulnerable to attack. These wimps sit behind keyboards playing fake combat “games” believing their warriors, they wouldn’t last a day in boot camp. Academics are the worst of the lot because they are the catalyst that are destroying the youth. Hopefully CK has opened the eyes of many to the dangers these people pose to their lives, families and future?

  10. This may seem off-topic but I think it would go a long way towards stabilizing and restoring the values upon which this nation is based.

First, ditch the social-emotional learning crap in the schools and put in an age-appropriate US civics and history curriculum in every grade K-12.

Second, an ammendment requiring every elected or appointed federal office holder to be a natural-born US citizen and every federal employee to be a US citizen.

US citizenship admission should require proficiency in English in spoken and written form. Tests should be comprehensive and not trivial. If you are not serious about becoming an American, cannot support yourself, or don’t bring any useful skills, we don’t want you. We already have large numbers of unskilled people who should be employed instead of being on the dole.

I am not sure if a federal ammendment extends to the states…

Now about Dearborn, MI and its muslim problem…

    1. Oldfish maybe we should apply that same comprehensive test on all Americans and if they fail their citizenship can be revoked until the pass.

    2. “Second, an ammendment requiring every elected or appointed federal office holder to be a natural-born US citizen and every federal employee to be a US citizen.”

I’m not clear on why that would require an amendment, rather than passing (or revoking) ordinary legislation. What part of the existing Constitution is claimed to guarantee foreigners opportunities for Federal employment or contracts?

      1. “What part of the existing Constitution is claimed to guarantee foreigners opportunities for Federal employment or contracts?”

What part of the existing Constitution says that naturalized citizens who came here as legal immigrants are still foreigners for the remainder of their lives?

        1. “What part of the existing Constitution says that naturalized citizens who came here as legal immigrants are still foreigners for the remainder of their lives?”

Reality. I have lived in the same county all my life.
I moved to the current small town, 5M from my previous home 20 years ago – I am STILL an “outsider”.

I was born in the US, my father was born in the US, his father was born in the US, ….. for 5+ generations.

          I am still Irish.

      2. Currently it is illegal to screen people out from a job if they hold an H1-B. An ammendment is stronger than a legislative action

    3. “Second, an ammendment requiring every elected or appointed federal office holder to be a natural-born US citizen and every federal employee to be a US citizen.”

Handicap legal immigrants who become naturalized citizens and make them second class citizens their entire lives because they aren’t Pure Blood loyal Americans like Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff, James Comey, Merrick Garland, Eric Holder, Chuck Schumer, etc?

I don’t agree with that, and I doubt the men at the Constitutional Convention agreed with that, as there is no record that they even considered such a prohibitive restriction.

      1. Originalism does NOT mean that the constitution is limited to what our founders intended.

It means that the text and amendments of the constitution must be read as those who wrote them intended.

The 2nd amendment must be understood as out founders intended.
The 14th as the Civil War generation intended.

the 27th amendment was ratified in 1992 – it must be understood in that context.

A 28th amendment will be understood as we the people right now intend it.

This is why if you object to the originalist understanding of the constitution – you can fix that by amending the constitution NOW. The new will replace the old and Today’s meaning will take precidence until changed.

This is BTW the standard for statutory interpretation, and the only approach that prevents the law from changing over time without actually changing the law.

      2. While your understanding of constitutional interpretation is flawed, overall I agree.

This country does not have a problem with legal immigrants.
If anything the process of becoming a citizen is too hard.

But that does not alter the fact that we had massively uncontrolled illegal immigration under Biden and that was a disaster.

We need more legal immigration, an easier path to citizenship.

But we need to END illegal immigration.

  11. We really need some research on this TDS thing, it’s now quite apparent it’s a horrible affliction, yet some are completely immune to it.
It’s either toxin, (blue hair dye? drugs?) or maybe viral? somehow getting past the brain barrier?
I’ve taken to observing those immune and it seems their brain is robust enough to take in information and arrive at conclusions as expected.
The poor infected cannot seem to connect to the rational side, the higher brain, and so the animal brain, useful in ambulation and violence,
takes over, keeping the lungs breathing while fight or flight takes over for the missing input. More study is needed.
Unfortunately it seems the mental blockage just wedges in tighter with any exposure to rational ideas so a cure may be a long way off.

    1. Belief in a cult is always wrong. Always.
Don’t think followers of trump are in a cult? Just listen to the lies trump spouts on a daily basis. Anybody that follows a person that lies as much as trump does is in a cult.

      1. Do I need to list all the lies the left has been telling ?
        Whoppers ?
        The collusion delusion ?
        The many lies of Covid.
The long list of Biden lies ?

Grassley just released FBI documents from multiple sources reporting on a Burisma multimillion dollar Bribery scheme involving the Bidens.

Why wasn’t this information provided to congress over the past 10 years when it was requested ?

      2. How many Trump supporters are assassinating people ?
Shooting up churches full of children ?
        Shooting up elementary schools ?

  12. Was talking to a friend yesterday. She said her nephew first day of college, just 15 minutes into class and the professor started pushing the leftists viewpoint. Said it was so bad he nearly walked out.
My daughter was forced and had to pay for a DEI class as they made it mandatory requirement for graduation.
I am quite happy these people openly state their hate and rage. Let it be known to all what kind of person they are. And to avoid them. 20-30 years ago, I would imagine if something like this happened there would be some ex-hippie who took too much LSD would be the only one cheering on a person death from the corner of a dive bar. Now, it is shocking to see so many people so full of hate and rage. I believe it was WhimsicalMamma who said something to the effect of society has divided into two differing sides and the idea of unity has passed. I would rather we have amicable divorce where there is two separate societies, running in parallel, where the two never meet.
It is fun to watch them suddenly be concerned about cancel culture.

    1. Friend huh? Was she in the classroom – no. Why would a nephew tell an aunt unless that person lives in the same household. Your whole story smells like a lie.

      1. You are really arguing that there are no left wing nut professors at colleges ?
That DEI classes are not mandatory in many colleges ?

I had left wing nut professors in the 70’s
But in the 70’s they were few and avoidable.

    2. Upstatefarmer, so your nephew experienced a different point of view…in college. College exposes you to different points of view. It’s literally Professor Turley’s argument that different points of view be allowed in colleges and Universities.

Instead of getting disgusted or intolerant of the idea of being expsed to a leftis viewpoint may be she should keep an open mind and learn something from a different perspective. Maybe being in a conservative household all her life made her leery of leftist views. That is one reason why so many students who have never or rarely took a leftist view seriously is because they never have been truly exposed to it. In college or University you’re not only exposed to different viewpoints, but also different perspectives. Nothing says you have to accept them. It’s the exposure that seems to upset a lot of conservatives.

      1. Oh oh, George X is making some valid points.
So, all you hatemongers, debate him. No? Then you’re ignorant cowards.

      2. George posting as X wrote: “Upstatefarmer, so your nephew experienced a different point of view…in college. ”

George, what they encountered was one of your fellow Marxists/Communists pushing your political and Marxist theology in a course that probably had absolutely nothing to do with political science. Students of any age don’t pay college dues for Democrat indoctrination – they pay for the delivery of the subject matter of the class. They can get Democrat indoctrination for free from CNN, MSNBC, PBS, etc.

Now, if you want a real challenge for today: convince us that students going to these universities and colleges also encounter professors who similarly assail them with Republican beliefs and content.

      3. Time is precious in a person’s life. Wasting it by listening to propaganda isn’t what people do. It costs money.

      4. There is a difference between exposure and indoctrination.
In college I took philosophy of religion – I experienced numerous different religious philosophies.

But the professor did not try to convert me.

And performance – grading was based on analysis and understanding – knowing what each POV was, NOT how well I adopted it.

The goal is NOT ideological conversion.

Most of use do not want far left wing ideology completely obliterated from colleges.
Just returned to the less than 10% it was contained in after Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn exposed how rotten communism really was.

I do not want all left wing nut professors fired – just those that are celebrating assassination.

College should expose you to the ideology of the left.
It should not drown you in it.

    3. Upstate, It is my belief that there is a very loud vocal minority who are intent on destroying western civilization. It is interesting and sickening to see how radicalized some have become. They standing on shaky arguments so, instead of bringing facts to a debate, they get angry.

One of the very few positive things that has come out of this tragedy is that it seems to be lighting a fire in the younger generation and demonstrates how feeble and sick in heart the radicals really are. This was an act of evil and if any person celebrates the assassination of another human being, then they have crossed a dangerous line.

The antidote to this madness is truth. True truth. Part truth given as whole truth is still untruth. CHARLIE KIRK did nothing more than allow a person to debate on an issue. I commend his courage and I pray that Turning Point USA grows and thrives and inspires a new generation of youth to arm themselves with facts and truth and be willing stand their ground.

      1. E.M.
        Great comment and thank you.
I mentioned in a comment just after Charlie Kirk was sadly murdered that I hoped this would prove to be a point where young people would find the courage and bravery to speak and voice their points of view.

    1. Stunning, pathetic, shameful, yes. Surprising ? Absolutely not. This is SOP for the sicko animals of the hypocritical Left. It is who they are and what they do: Lie, cheat, steal, defame, and destroy. It is a mental disorder.

      1. Hey anon, read your words again, and then prove to the readers here that you are not a sicko hypocrite. They have mental disorder you say? Suggest you look in a mirror.

  13. This is who Leftist are. It’s that simple. Been that way since the French revolution. They don’t want to talk. They are not articulate enough. Thus the profanity. They just throw tantrums like poorly raised children.

      1. Yes, left ideology has been soaked in blood since the french revolution.

That should be a clue – when the same ideas always lead to misery and bloodshed – the problem is with the ideas.

    1. Take off the blinders James, look at this blog, you think this mob is sane?
You drank too much Republicans Kool-Aid.

        1. What comments are you referring to fake farmer? Examples please, and prove me wrong. Sane ones, you jest of course.

  14. There is a new category of speech; hate speech. Any words critical of the left or their beliefs or policies fall into the hate speech category and are not protected by the First Amendment. This is how the left hopes to undermine the Constitution. Just redefine stuff and claim that the Constitution doesn’t apply.

  15. Charlie Kirk might not have liked what Tamar Shirinian said about him,
but he would have died to defend her right to say it.

    1. No he would have not. Back it up. That’s just hollow words. No one in their right mind would say and do it. Would you?

      1. Any free speech advocate worth his salt would know a thing or two about Voltaire. If you deny to anyone else the right to say what you think is wrong, it will not be long before you will lose the right to say what you think is right. Defense of the freedom of others is self-defense. Voltaire stated this fact as a genius can: “I wholly disagree with what you say and will contend to the death for your right to say it.”

        1. “Wrong, he would have happily wanted to debate her.”

How does that in any way contradict the assertion that he would have defended her right to speak her mind in mpublic?

  16. In the abundance of knowledge that we have in this world today people cannot even recognize where we are in history. 170 K per day dying for the last 111 years has never happened before in history. It was predicted to happen now, just before Jesus return . Charlie will be back to live on a paradise earth according to Daniel 12:2 and Psalm 37:29. Whether or not we are here to see him, depends on us doing the will of God and promoting his kingdom and our earthly government, which are not blessed by God. Daniel 2:43 shows you what the last human world power will be in a prophecy that’s been 100% accurate all the way back to the day of Babylon, Rome, Greece, etc.. 170 K per day dying for the last 111 years is not normal. But yeah, with this abundance of knowledge, nobody realizes that because nobody understands history everyone’s acting just like Jesus predicted they would like the days of Noah . Where we end up on the biggest event in human history is a decision each one of Us must make. As Neutrality is not survivable position. As Jesus said if you’re not for him, you’re against him, and if you’re ashamed of him and his kingdom that he’ll be ashamed of you.

    1. Clark
Not that I disagree with your biblical interpretation but I would say that the 170K/d is actually normal. It’s a function of the exponential growth and DECAY rate of our current population. Go forth and multiply only works for so long. I recall hearing that there are more people on the planet alive at one time than have ever been born. IMHO this is the problem that brings ills to our world.

      1. Nearly everyone buys into the Malthusian antigrowth nonsense at some time.
It is a fallacy. Julian Simon addressed this more than two decades ago.
Since then his analysis has only growth stronger.

        https://www.juliansimon.com/writings/Ultimate_Resource/

The claim that the world is getting worse because of more people is false.
        It is getting better.
We had a brief period of environmental degradation – specifically tied to WWII – in a world war, the environment gets short shrift.
aside from these minor blips the world gets BETTER over time – not worse.

There are more Bears in New Jersey today than when the pilgrims landed – they have just learned to hide. The numbers we have today – could not have survived without the massive amount of human garbage they live off of.

That is just one of many examples.

When I was in elementary school the nuns had milk cartons that we put nickels in for the starving millions in Bangeledesh. Today we moan because a few hundred die in a factory fire – but NO ONE is starving.

We have twice as many people in the world as when Ehrlich wrote the population bomb.
No one in the world today starves because the country they live in can not grow enough food – even the worst places in the world.
People starve today because food is used as a weapon in politics and war.
The average calorie intake has doubled since 1965.
And half as much of the earth is used for Farming.
With technology already in regular use and only using the land that has traditionally been used for Farming – the earth can support a population of 50B – without deprivation. With techniques that work but are not in practice yet – maybe 10 times that. Reduce the cost of energy and you can massively increase food production.

Even Malthus ultimately recognized his error.
But it gets repeated over and over many times with each generation.

We are at or near Zero Population growth. Many countries have negative population growth.
THAT is going to prove absolutely disasterous.

Japan, China, Russia are in REAL demographic messes – probably unrecoverable.
Most of Europe is not far behind.

The US will manage – if we bring in about 3M immigrants per year.

Red State birth rates are at 2.0 – ALMOST the 2.1 replacement rate.
But Blue states are at 1.2 and that is a huge problem.

Declining populations are going to be a major problem driving global politics over the next 50 years.

        1. Total BS John
Look around, the more people the more rules
The more rules the more government
The more government the more taxes
The more government the more rules
          I guess if you’re a rat in a cage that’s a better world

    2. In the abundance of knowledge that we have in this world today people cannot even recognize where we are in history.

As an agnostic, I have no ill will towards any deist, animist, or other religion, including the true believers whose religion is atheism. I do know that the atheists record of being efficient butchers of their fellow men makes the rest look like pikers.

That said, and with no slur on Christian beliefs, we can see where we are today without needing to reach for the Bible, the Torah, etc to see where we are today. The Democrats’ assault on the American republic has been led by supposedly god-fearing Christians of numerous denominations: Woodrow Wilson, FDR, Obama, and of course the latest: the devout Catholic who spent four years pushing for national elective birth control abortion up to the moment the umbilical cord is cut, Biden.

Another person could take that collection of Presbyterians, Catholics, Baptists, etc and argue that it displays the evil and the results of Christian religious beliefs.

You handicap your arguments when you expect the person you’re trying to convince to agree with your religious beliefs, rather than staying with their own if they follow a different religion like atheism, or are agnostic.
