“RIP Constitution”: Democratic Candidate for Virginia Lt. Governor Holds Startling Rally

The Democratic candidate for Virginia’s next lieutenant governor, Ghazala Firdous Hashmi, appears to believe that the United States Constitution is dead. During a recent campaign stop, Hashmi gave a speech in front of an upside-down American flag, a symbol of distress, accompanied by a makeshift tombstone that read, “RIP Constitution.”

Recently, I have debated professors from Harvard and Boston College over claims that we are in a “constitutional crisis.” Hashmi is apparently well past a crisis and is suggesting that the Constitution is somehow deceased.

She tells the crowd:“We have to fight. We are not going to concede this democracy to the efforts of tyranny. We are not going to concede the rights that we have in this country to protect every single citizen. We are going to fight. This is an act of civil disobedience that we are going to keep up and make sure that your voices continue throughout Virginia, all throughout the country.”

Hashmi is continuing the Democratic narrative that democracy is dying in America and tyranny is on the rise. It was the mantra before the last election when Republicans secured control of both houses and the White House. Despite that failure, Democrats are doubling down on rage rhetoric and unhinged claims.

Our constitutional system continues to function as it has through prior
“ages of rage.”  The nation is divided, so less work tends to get done in Congress. In the meantime, the courts continue to address many of these controversies. The Trump Administration has won and lost cases in the federal system, including the Supreme Court.

Many of those declaring the death of democracy seem to primarily object to how the democratic process has worked. Past presidents, including Joe Biden, have violated the Constitution. Yet, these same figures did not declare a constitutional crisis or, in this case, a dead constitution.

However, telling supporters that the Constitution is dead and that tyranny is on the rise only serves to fuel the rage and political violence. Recently, the Virginia Democratic gubernatorial nominee, Abigail Spanberger, told supporters, “Let your rage fuel you.”

Now the woman running to serve as Spanberger’s Lieutenant Governor is telling people that the Constitution is dead and democracy is dying. Some will hear such inflammatory comments as a license to take extreme actions, including violence.

  1. Officers of the State of Virginia are required to take the following oath to assume office:

    “Code of Virginia

Table of Contents » Title 49. Oaths, Affirmations and Bonds
    Print
    Oaths, Affirmations and Bonds
    Chapter 1. Oaths and Affirmations.
§ 49-1. Form of general oath required of officers.

Every person before entering upon the discharge of any function as an officer of this Commonwealth shall take and subscribe the following oath: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the Constitution of the United States, and the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and that I will faithfully and impartially discharge all the duties incumbent upon me as ____________________ according to the best of my ability, (so help me God).”

Any person reappointed to any office filled by gubernatorial appointment for a subsequent term to begin immediately upon expiration of an existing term shall not be required to renew the oath set out in this section; however, the original oath taken shall continue in effect with respect to the subsequent term.”

Therefore, any candidate running for State office in Virginia who holds beliefs that would prevent taking such an oath in good faith, and upholding its requirements after being sworn in, should be summarily barred from appearing on ballots for such an office.

  2. I didn’t even know this crazy is a woman until I saw the photo. And I thought our own Lt. Gov candidate was mediocre. Oh boy, is she bad.

  3. Maybe there is a constitutional crisis, and maybe it started, or hit an inflection point, with SCOTUS, basically gutting the death penalty back in the 60’s. And gutting school prayer, and finding that burning the flag was free speech. And earlier, desegregating the schools. Those sort of decisions that split communities, and destroyed neighborhoods. America is dying the Death of a Thousand Cuts. Where to begin to fix it? Execute drug dealers. Period. No tolerance. Put addicts and users in jail. When you get a chance, watch this video, and one that I will post in reply to it. They are beyond depressing. You can prattle on about the Constitution this, and the Constitution that, but when these are the pieces of human crap that make up society, all that chatter is missing the point. IMHO.

      1. Yes, these are not “one-off’s”. I have seen it for myself, and those kids who were doing nothing but the “smoke dope, screw and steal stuff” – I have had personal experiences with kids like that – children of semi-respectable type parents. There was one, years ago, I took him in when he was staying with drug dealers. His mom ran him out of the house to protect the home, and his young sister by her new husband. Not that he was violent, but that he hung out with bad people, and would steal stuff. I had known him since he was 5 or 6. The kid had tons of potential, but he was more interested in “beats”, and dope, and selling dope and doing nothing. He would work long enough to get a paycheck or two, and then get a stupid tattoo. His vehicle needed a battery, and he was too lazy to work to get $100 for a battery. Finally, I met with his father, who had also chunked him out of the house a few times, too. His father came and got him, and tried to get him into a sales job, but that went sour in a few weeks. Every couple of years, I check his facebook page to see if he ever got his poop in one sock, and he is still marginal. Can’t seem to hold a job, and busted again for minor criminal stuff. It’s the drugs. Take those out of the equation, and he would probably straighten out. It’s not like he had a bad life, and he knew right from wrong.

But, his grandmother, who I liked, well she got a divorce because one of her daughters did not want to move to Florida. Granny was a pushover, and even made cigarette runs to her at school. The daughter was the kid’s aunt. Very permissive granny, and spared the rod to the max. When Granny died, we found out that she had been stealing identities from sick people, and getting credit cards in their names. Meanwhile, Cool-Mom Aunt had been letting the kid drink and smoke dope when he was at her house. Cool-Mom Aunt, meanwhile, is a whole nother story. Very intelligent, good-looking woman, and great at her job, but she was the type who wasn’t going to let no man tell her what to do. Her son is now in prison, for manslaughter. Very depressing stuff. I could go on, but too much of a downer.

  4. And then we wonder why attacks on conservatives are becoming more and more frequent. You’d think after Charlie’s murder that the leftists would tone down the Chicken Little rhetoric. The fact that they seem to be doubling down kind of makes you wonder if this is what they wanted all along.

  5. So candidate for Virginia Lt. Gov. “Gaza Furious Hamas” wants to round up the Jews and get the gas chambers & crematoriums ready at tax payers expense for the high holy days.

    FYI,

Recently, the Virginia Democratic gubernatorial nominee, Abigail Spanberger, told supporters, “Let your rage fuel you.”

Abigail was condemned as a witch in the Lords year 1692 and burned at the stake.
So the Prince of the Air sends Abigail back from the bottomless pit to finish the job.

  6. If our politics were psychologically healthy, instead of debating whether our Constitution is working OK vs. not, we’d be brainstorming on what incremental improvements to it we could make in our lifetimes. The “for” and “against” mentality where we run to our corners and take up a defensive crouch is not going to produce anything permanent or useful.

Here are just a few possible improvements:

Gerrymandering. Find a new reapportionment model based on software algorithms that can meet the criteria of maximizing the number of competitive general election races. Allow multiple software teams to compete for the best match to a set of legislated “nonpartisan goodness” criteria.

Lobbying. Require all legislative and administrative advocacy to be Public Domain. This means that policy “asks” would have to take place out in the open, i.e., the asking party would have to publish their asks before meeting to discuss them with government officials. Govt. officials could not allow discussions to veer off into covert lobbying.
An exception for national security privacy.

Nonpartisan Leadership. Require that the House Speakership require a 2/3 vote, and the Speaker must renounce party membership before being sworn in, and take responsibility for the productivity and responsiveness of the House as a single cohesive body. Require that the VP and Presiding Officer of the Senate renounce party affiliation, and take similar responsibility for the entire body’s work product and schedule. The President must renounce party affiliation before Inauguration.

Congressional Due Diligence. Whenever Congress fails to meet a statutory deadline, 10% of its members, chosen by random lottery, will become ineligible for re-election. Each blown deadline ups the number to be culled by another 10%. The lottery is run the week before the filing deadline for the next Nov. elections. Since getting re-elected is the highest priority of Congresspeople, put their skin in the game. Treat them like you would an employee who is not performing to expectation.

Public Frauds (for political gain). Allow private lawsuits. Why only allow them when an individual or entity is being defamed? In both cases, the objective is to dupe the public for advantage. Define public frauds without regard to the technologies involved, and this will immediately deter deep fake AI used for opinion-shaping.

Being “for” or “against” is pathetically shallow (and escapist). Exploring and developing ideas until they mature into workable solutions is how we get better. What improvements to our governing process will we leave to posterity?

    1. LMAO at every word of this silliness.

I know, every one must bake cookies for the other side before each house vote.

    2. Interesting ideas, certainly, but not one with a snowball’s chance in hell of realization.

  7. The celebration of Planned Constitutionhood, our national abortion, has been greatly colored. The truth is that our social compact is still a viable agreement, our national community is still evolving. #HateLovesAbortion

  8. It is arguable that Virginia was the most important state in the founding of the Republic: Patrick Henry, George Washington, Light Horse Harry Lee, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, John Marshall, and others important to the victory for Independence, were from there. (Of course, it was the leading state in the Confederacy too.) The battle that ended the war for independence was won there. Now it is one of the leading states for reckless left-wing rhetoric. How does a State make this journey? It becomes populated by unionized federal workers and its public educational system is controlled by unionized school teachers.

    1. Ed
Ergo the metastasized cancer of unchecked government, whether it be local, State or Federal. A melanoma on the skin of the Republic that every citizen must fund through taxation. As our National debt and annual deficit are indicative of, it is non-sustainable.

  9. The believe-ability of women is at issue. These particular candidates could not make these same manipulative pronouncements if they were men. Politics in general is given to irrational manipulations. Amy Coney-Barrett recently debunked Katanji Brown-Jackson’s reliance on irrational emotivity over stare decicis. The candidate in Virginia derives her political posture from the systemic violations of the Constitution achieved by her own party. Voters would have to be fiercely independent in order to have any opportunity to see that authoritarianism is the real threat.

      1. Black is beautiful
        And Tan is grand
        But Orange is the color
        Of the Big Boss Man!

        Please define a girl.🤣

        1. Girl? A fat crazy old fart on Turelys blog who acts like a Karen, whines like 12 y/o and goes by madman. Close?

            1. As someone who was once a girl, but has been a woman for quite some time, I take great offense at being lumped with that.

      2. No, Kevin’s remarks do not prove fear of women. They indicate that the greater prominence of women in public life changes the tenor, if not temper, of political discourse. Whether this is good, or bad, on indifferent, is a legitimate question.

  10. The game plan being followed by the Left is not unique to the US. It’s being played out in western countries everywhere. Canada, Australia, Britain and the EU. It’s even showing up in South Korea. How is that possible? A global momentum towards totalitarianism. There is an interim step before the system being demanded becomes reality. It’s War. Violence in the extreme. It’s coming.

      1. I blame it on Feminism. Women believed the delusion “they can have it all”, and finding out they can’t, and life requires difficult and often irreversible tradeoffs has driven them insane.

          1. Ellen,
I agree with you. All the women I know, know there is limitations for not just women but everyone in life. I know of one, who by her own, young and dumb life choices made some very big mistakes but turned herself around to become a very successful woman who is now enjoying a very comfortable retirement.

          2. No, not all women are stupid, or bad. But on the whole, I do not think the 19th Amendment has done us any favors. In fact, it has accelerated our downfall. Here is a good recap:

        1. *. I was thinking back to the 1960s and earlier when media brainwashed girls using media. Songs like I am woman hear me roar, I am strong by a Canadian singer. Was it Anne Murray? Charlie’s angels another crack female team etc all in an effort to enlarge the workforce and the family suffered.

The positive side was women could have a room of their own and leave destructive marriages. The hyphenated names came in keeping the names of her father and husband. 😏.

The Archbishop of Canterbury is now a woman. So much for tradition. When will the Pope and Ayotollah be women. It keeps me awake at night I’m so concerned…

The article today doesn’t have a legal point. Hashmi is free to say what she wants to say and the assembled were peaceable. Her message–> elect me or we’ll lose democracy. EVERY person must have their individual needs and wants met by the government.

          She’s stupid.

  11. Anonymous 7:07 AM- I think we here on the right side of the political spectrum have a good idea of what the Democrats want. We have heard it screamed at us by NBC, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN, NPR, violent campus disturbances and rioters in the streets, moronic university professors and biologists who can’t even figure out what biology is.
Mostly they want to be back in power but they seem to be seeing it slip away as people leave blue states and the DNC.
The constitution works and the Democrats have used the court system in our constitutional form of government just as they always have. They try to win by court order what they have lost in legislatures and congress. The Key difference now is that there is a conservative Supreme Court that can block their unconstutional actions.
Remember the massive growth of the Federal government occurred after FDR was elected and the Supreme Court was cowed by the Court Packing scheme and then FDR replaced 7/9 justices over his 12 years in office. The growth continued through Republican and Democratic Administrations and the Federal Government has become almost all powerful and THE PEOPLE by vote have decided to pare it back. That’s painful if you live all your life working for the government. I can see this anxiety on the left side about having to move to the private sector.
To Quote Ghostbusters “I’ve worked in the private sector. They expect results”.

    1. Good idea of what they want? Derived from the MSM shows no less? And, to quote Ghostbusters… seriously now ?
BTW this is 2025 not 1944. FDR died long ago, Trump is POTUS.

  12. This commentary reminds me of a time I was going to meet the union representative of my business to plan for negotiations. On the way there, I heard the UAW President ranting about the need for more pay and benefits. Upon arrival, I asked the union rep how the UAW leader could not understand how that position is causing plants to close in Michigan and jobs to move to the South, Mexico or overseas. He said it was just ‘talk’ and the ‘process’. I responded that many of the union members do not hold degrees in economics and are likely to believe what he says and vote themselves out of a job. Similarly, Hashmi and others are irresponsible and naive to think their ‘rage’ and ‘idiotic’ rhetoric won’t be believed by a few ‘low information’ or deranged listeners.

    1. @af1234555 – in all due respect if you think their “rage” is “idiotic rhetoric” you mistaken. You see they truly believe what they say, they’d be happy as crabs on your crotch if we’d do away with our constitution. Especially if they’re in charge.

    2. So you’re saying, affable, you went into negotiations prepared to offer the employees stock in the company?

  13. I’m quite sure these people would prefer the ten planks of Karl M or maybe a little red book you’d be forced to carry. There is no democrat party.

  14. Hashmi and Spanberger confirm — in spades — that no Democrat should ever again be allowed within 52 factorial cubed parsecs (a mind-numbing distance) of governmental power or authority. They are brain-dead melanomas on the skin of the Republic and, accordingly, threaten its survival. Ben Franklin warned of these people, and we should all take heed nationwide, not just in Virginia.

    1. brain-dead melanomas, code for brain dead blacks.
And what exactly did BF warn people about “these people”?

        1. What’s the matter, jealous I have one, and you play with yourself all day long. I see your new moniker is jerk-off. How apt.

                1. @dustoff – if my memory and experience are correct your moniker is one due of respect (in country?). if I’m correct no explanation is needed? From experience, don’t give air to the blue bananas.

                  1. Margot girl, your memory and experience? Excuse me while I fart.
You can’t name the culture (you call it a country thing) yet you believe its a moniker of respect, but can’t provide an explanation of its source.
Dumber than a bucket of rocks.

                    1. some rocks are gold. When panning from a bucket, they stand out from the farting shmuck.

                  2. Margot,
I believe you are correct, your memory serves you well.
” . . . don’t give air to the blue bananas.” Well said!! Love it!

            1. Dusty
It seems fixated upon connecting you to masturbation, interesting. I wonder if it’s another case of gender dysphoria, seems to be the primary focus for the Democrats recruiting platform for violence. I have found best to ignore their petty attempts of attack, other than the humor of their failure.

              1. MadMan,
As I noted yesterday, the annony moron seems to project his on thoughts and situation onto others.

                1. I noticed in some of the recent videos of ICE protesters that there was always an older looking leader that led the crowd into chants and slogans. The younger crowd looked like freshman recruited from the nearest University (indoctrination camp). It was really discernible in the videos. This is the same violent rhetoric that the NVA employed as they sen a million of their young to die along the Ho Chi Minh trail. It’s so parallel it’s scary, let’s hope we get a handle on ending this Communist push before real violence erupts.

        2. DustOff,
You are correct. But his job is to pollute the good professor’s blog with dumb, juvenile comments. A quick check, finds he started today at 5:34 AM with is first dumb comment. He will be here all day and even into the night.

        1. Kevin
How dare you present the facts! That would destroy the entire basis of their racism based leg of attacks. That only leaves sexism, transphobia, homophobia, colonialism and wealth to insert their Obamunism slurs against us.🤣🎱

      1. On leaving the Constitutional Convention in 1787 following adjournment, rumor has it that Franklin was asked whether we now had a republic or a monarchy. His response: “A republic, if you can keep it….” Democrats like Spanberger and Hashmi, among many others, seem intent on crippling and destroying this constitutional republic. And please, while it is a republic based on democratic principles, it is not and never has been a pure “democracy.” Full stop.

      2. What kind of twisted logic brought you to that conclusion? Melanoma (a cancer). not melatonin (a skin tone). Do you really think Ben Franklin was warning about black people? Try to remember that nasty people come in all colors, ethnicities and religions. You judge by what’s inside not outside.

        1. Melatonin is not a skin tone. It is a chemical produced by the human body which affects sleep. Melanin is another such chemical which affects skin tone. God, people are so damned illiterate now!

        2. John Reddy,
Thank you for that. The annony moron is not very smart or bright as you aptly point out.

      3. mel·a·no·ma
        /ˌmeləˈnōmə/
        nounMedicine
a tumor of melanin-forming cells, especially a malignant tumor associated with skin cancer.
“melanomas can appear anywhere on the body”

      4. Read it again b*tch!! He is stating that their a cancer!! You F*cking fool! Or just brain dead leftist!!!

      5. “A republic, if you can keep it.” The D’s are obsessed with crippling and destroying the Republic.

    2. Abigail Spanberger will be the Commonwealth of Virginia’s next governor. I’ve met her and listened to her speak and answer questions. She very bright and articulate.

      Spanberger 2025!

There’s nothing that you can do to stop her election.

      1. Lmao a ringing endorsement from the lunatic shltstain Wally, who is well known for his 40 proof rants.

Virginia will get the governor they deserve.

        1. Remember when Wally kept telling us all that Kamala was going to crush the Orange menace?🤣🤣🤡

      2. That’s the Left/Democrat problem, Wally. Millions of people are bright and articulate. Heck, Ted Bundy was bright and articulate. The question is, can that person “lead.” Spanberger seems to be more moderate than AOC, but she is a Democrat, and on her coat-tails, she will drag the insane Leftists into her administration along with her. That is not “leading.”

If Spanberger is bright, she will become a Republican.

  15. Apparently the Constitution on “lives” when you can apply your specific brand of Constitution to your life!!!! There are those of us that believe the Constitution is doing better now that it is applied equally after the exposure of the DOJ/FBI corruption against United States citizens (FISA Court). If anything threatens the Constitution of the United States it is the Judicial Branch Coup at the Federal District Court level that is the actual threat to Democracy!!!!!!!

    1. How can the Constitution be doing better when its been a static document since 1787, most recently in 1992.
Actual threat to democracy? You must mean actual threat to the Republic.

      1. Looks like the MSN is playing games for the dems. Shocked I tell ya…
        _____________________________
Both CNN and MSNBC feared that the truth would get out on Thursday. Both cable ‘news’ outlets cut off Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson as he was telling their scant audiences about Democrats wanting taxpayers to pay for illegal alien healthcare.

            1. Ah… yes, free speech. I know you’re dumber than a bucket of rocks, but do to realize that that free speech war cry of yours is pretty stoopid, considering that 1st A pertains to government / citizens interaction, not commenting on a private blog.

        1. DustOff,
Here is a pretty good explanation of Democrats wanting taxpayers to pay for illegal alien healthcare.
Yes America, Democrats really do want tax dollars for illegal immigrants
“The Democrats’ own proposal seeks to repeal the section of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act that ends healthcare for aliens.”
          https://justthenews.com/government/yes-america-democrats-want-tax-dollars-illegal-aliens

The fun part is watching Democrats then attempt to gaslight Americans of this very fact.

          1. *. Abrego García has been denied a reopen on his case. Mrs. García, a citizen, has three handicapped children with SS benefits. If she leaves with Abrego can she still collect SS for the children. They, too, are citizens having inherited it from mother.

            Do you know?

As to healthcare for migrants and illegals, non citizens I’m undecided. As a matter of communicable diseases isn’t it wise to have diseases treated while within the US general population? TB, PERTUSSIS, HIV, leprosy, monkeypox and so much more are communicable. Docs?

            1. “As to healthcare for migrants and illegals, non citizens I’m undecided. As a matter of communicable diseases isn’t it wise to have diseases treated while within the US general population?”

You just made a very strong case for Trump’s policy to quarantine the illegals in some other country while their cases and appeals are being decided.

  16. She should be roundly condemned. This overt hyperbolic rhetoric is why dialogue seems utterly impossible.

    1. Condemned? Why, its free speech. Maybe she has a point, when Reps start calling for condemnation, maybe the Constitution is really dead.

      1. Did you read the article? YOU are exactly who Mr. Turley is talking about.

Past presidents, including Joe Biden, have violated the Constitution. Yet, these same figures did not declare a constitutional crisis or, in this case, a dead constitution.

Of course not, you are only here to push a liberal agenda not have a real debate. Most often called trolling.

        1. Article, not much of one is it, just red meat for you crazies.
Debate, with you? Your just an old crazy fart itching for a fight.
Shrink, that mash you just posted reveals a lot about your mindset, or lack of one.

          1. Yeah try to debate, if you can.
So far all I’ve seen is insults. So post away fool. We all are waiting.

          2. It is short and to the point

Dems are shilling for the end of the world when the world is doing just fine

      2. Left wing nuts fo not seem to grasp that the right to free speech includes the right to condemn the free speech of others

What you may not do is use force aka government to suppress the speech of others
        Like democrats have repeatedly done
        Under Obama and Biden

Harshly criticizing the speech of others is exactly what our constitution expects in response to bad speech

  17. Jezzzzzz another moron of a dem-o-rat.
Funny that these same dems said zip when O-dumber used the IRS to destroy people in the Tea party.

    1. So criticize the foreigner moron huh? And what does the IRS fiasco have to do with a campaign speech?

      1. Court ruling loser. This IS about free speech.

The judge said the IRS violated constitutional protections by denying the tax-exempt status the organization requested.

“The ruling held that the agency’s ‘facts and circumstances’ framework, an 11-part analysis derived from a 2004 IRS revenue ruling, fails to survive the heightened scrutiny required when government rules implicate First Amendment speech rights,” the report said

        1. Please note, no one mentioned the IRS in the article. But for some unknown reason you harp on it. I see you still cut-n-paste stuff – too stoopid toi think fo ryourself?

          1. Are you a moron or what. IRS… (Please note, no one mentioned the IRS in the article)
            ______________________

The judge said the IRS violated constitutional protections by denying the tax-exempt status the organization requested.

Key word ( IRS violated constitutional protections)
            You must need glasses.

              1. You are a fool. I said nothing about Turley. I was talking about our Government under O-dumber violated constitutional protections for Americans.
                You are really dense.

  18. Every day, the Democrats confirm they no longer want the US Constitution, but some alternate document to be crafted by themselves. Among its new components will be all the actions of the Biden administration, open borders, open crime, rampant censorship, judicial activism, and beyond. She may win, so deep is Trump hatred.

    1. It seems you have no real idea what the dems want – an alternate document. What is that exactly?
Ever thought if and how to nullify the Constitution would be?
I’ll say this, you people here are just as ignorant and hateful as the dems, maybe more so.

        1. Anon said nothing about proof? Can you even comprehend the American language? You are a mindless troll.

      1. It is quite rational to beleive that democrats would want a constitution that actually permits the unconstitutional acts the did or tried to do when they had power

That is not the us constitution
