The Democratic candidate for Virginia’s next lieutenant governor, Ghazala Firdous Hashmi, appears to believe that the United States Constitution is dead. During a recent campaign stop, Hashmi gave a speech in front of an upside-down American flag, a symbol of distress, accompanied by a makeshift tombstone that read, “RIP Constitution.”
Recently, I have debated professors from Harvard and Boston College over claims that we are in a “constitutional crisis.” Hashmi is apparently well past a crisis and is suggesting that the Constitution is somehow deceased.
She tells the crowd:“We have to fight. We are not going to concede this democracy to the efforts of tyranny. We are not going to concede the rights that we have in this country to protect every single citizen. We are going to fight. This is an act of civil disobedience that we are going to keep up and make sure that your voices continue throughout Virginia, all throughout the country.”
Hashmi is continuing the Democratic narrative that democracy is dying in America and tyranny is on the rise. It was the mantra before the last election when Republicans secured control of both houses and the White House. Despite that failure, Democrats are doubling down on rage rhetoric and unhinged claims.
Our constitutional system continues to function as it has through prior
“ages of rage.” The nation is divided, so less work tends to get done in Congress. In the meantime, the courts continue to address many of these controversies. The Trump Administration has won and lost cases in the federal system, including the Supreme Court.
Many of those declaring the death of democracy seem to primarily object to how the democratic process has worked. Past presidents, including Joe Biden, have violated the Constitution. Yet, these same figures did not declare a constitutional crisis or, in this case, a dead constitution.
However, telling supporters that the Constitution is dead and that tyranny is on the rise only serves to fuel the rage and political violence. Recently, the Virginia Democratic gubernatorial nominee, Abigail Spanberger, told supporters, “Let your rage fuel you.”
Now the woman running to serve as Spanberger’s Lieutenant Governor is telling people that the Constitution is dead and democracy is dying. Some will hear such inflammatory comments as a license to take extreme actions, including violence.
Democrats for years have screamed that voters should elect blacks and gays/lesbians. now that a black woman is running for Governor of Virginia, and a gay man (with a Latino partner) is running for Lt Governor of VA, Democrats are now demanding voters elect white privileged bottle blond Abigail Spanberger. On August 8, 2022, a Republican state legislator received a disturbing string of early-morning text messages from a former colleague, Jay Jones, this year’s Democratic nominee for Virginia attorney general.
Jones, who at the time had recently resigned from the state house after a brief stint representing Norfolk, had strong feelings about how the political class was eulogizing recently deceased former state legislator Joe Johnson Jr., a moderate Democrat with a long tenure in Virginia politics. Republican legislators like House Speaker Todd Gilbert had begun making public statements honoring Johnson’s memory and political legacy, and some of those statements were making the rounds in state legislative group chats.
“If those guys die before me,” Jones wrote, referencing the Republican colleagues who were publicly honoring the deceased Johnson’s memory, “I will go to their funerals to piss on their graves” to “send them out awash in something.”
Around 8 a.m., Jones shared those feelings with his former state legislative colleague, Republican House Delegate Carrie Coyner. In a series of text messages obtained by National Review, Jones derided Johnson’s political centrism and scoffed at the “glowing” tributes that were being made in his honor by Republicans in the wake of his death.
“Damn that was for mark,” he wrote to Coyner, suggesting he’d meant to send the texts to someone else. And yet that realization didn’t stop Jones from joking about what “that POS” Gilbert “would say about me if I died.”
Then, the conversation took a dark turn.
Jones then suggested that, presented with a hypothetical situation in which he had only two bullets and was faced with the choice of murdering then-Speaker of the House Todd Gilbert or two dictators, he’d shoot Gilbert “every time,” prompting pushback from his former colleague:

Fixes: There are more but here are a few
1) Stop government from declaring certain speech can be restricted because that it is hate speech, or that it is untrue
2) Elections:
a) Require each ballot to have a unique serial number and Republicans and Democrats have access to the to the valid serial numbers. This will assure no one has submitted fraudulent ballots print.
b) Publish a text file containing ballot cast on the internet containing. This will enable you to find your ballot and confirming your vote was counted for the candidates you selected.
c) Minimizing mail in ballots to people who can certify they can’t get to the local voting precinct on election day – Mail in ballots are a recipe for fraud
3) Confirmation – return to the Senate rule that all federal judges must get 60 votes
d) Pass a law or a Constitutional amendment to band court packing Including the Supreme Court as well as all lower courts

The singular American failure is the judicial branch, with emphasis on the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, it appears Dr. Ian Roberts was one of those Baltimore principals who “motivated” teacher to up the grades of their ignorant students. I’ll link that later. Back on the “bright and articulate” issue, it seems Roberts had plenty of that:
