Hotty Toddy, Gosh Almighty: Turley to Speak on “Rage and the Republic” at Ole Miss Today

I am delighted to serve as the keynote speaker this evening at the University of Mississippi’s The Declaration of Independence Center for the Study of American Freedom. I will be discussing my book, Rage and the Republic: The Unfinished Story of the American Revolution.” I hope to see some of our blog community near Ole Miss at the 5:30 event in Bryant Hall (209).

I am particularly delighted in joining an event with the Declaration of Independence Center for the Study of American Freedom. This is an exciting venture at Ole Miss to return to solid academics on the history and meaning of our Republic.

Founded in 2007, the DOI Center brings together intellectuals from around the world in areas ranging from political science, economics, law and history. The focus is on liberty and what it means for this country. It offers a unique Freedom Studies minor for its students.

DOI Center Director Steven Skultety is also a professor of philosophy and chair of the Department of Philosophy and Religion. He previously stated that “The basic mission of the center is to ensure that students, faculty, and Mississippi citizens have an opportunity to study American freedom in an academic way.” That is a refreshing change in higher education.

The primary focus of the DOI Center, founded in 2007, is freedom. Since it is also the focus of my book, the synergy could not be greater for this event.

I look forward to speaking at Ole Miss, and I hope that some of our blog family will be able to make it today.

Until then, “Hotty Toddy, Gosh Almighty.

Agree it is refreshing that the venue is actually a tradirional forum of Real Academia.. a Blessing in this day and ‘age of rage’ transforming so many campuses into political warzones.. only wish your speeches could be simulcast… yet we will be there in spirit for you! ..now doing a second reading of your Book..
