Below is my column in the New York Post and the California Post on the Swalwell scandal. Last night, Fox40 just released a statement from “senior staff” in his offices that is crushing. According to the host of “Inside California Politics,” the Swalwell staffers declared that “Any decision of staff members to remain in their roles in the interim should not be viewed as support for Eric Swalwell…We, more than he, understand that we have obligations to the people we lead and to the constituents of California’s 14th Congressional District.”
Here is the column:
In Mary Shelley’s famous work, Dr. Frankenstein is asked, “Accursed creator! Why did you form a monster so hideous that even you turned from me in disgust?”
This week, Rep. Eric Swalwell (D. Calif.), the leading Democratic candidate for California governor, may wish he could ask that of former Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.). After sexual assault allegations were raised by former staff members, Pelosi, Sen. Adam Schiff (D., Calif.), and even his close friend (and former campaign chair) Sen. Ruben Gallego (D., Ariz.) have withdrawn their endorsements.
The fact, however, is that (regardless of the merits of these latest allegations), Swalwell was always a notorious figure in Washington who was constructed by Pelosi and others to serve their interests.
As Pelosi and his other allies now seek to destroy him, they cannot escape their hand in his creation.
Multiple women came forward this week to allege sexual assault and other potentially criminal acts by Swalwell. The first allegations came from a former staffer who said that she was raped twice by Swalwell, who had sex with her when she was too drunk to consent. Swalwell is denying the allegations.
Four women spoke to the Chronicle; one former staffer alleged that she tried to fight off Swalwell who left her bruised and bleeding after a rape. Even CNN, which eagerly featured Swalwell on programs as he attacked the Trump Administration, ran detailed accounts of another alleged assault in a hotel room. One of these accounts is from February of this year.
The accounts, if true, suggest that Swalwell is not just a sexual harasser but a sexual predator operating in plain view. One woman, Ally Sammarco, alleged that she (like other women) received nude photos of Swalwell as well as inappropriate social media messages.
Swalwell’s scandal is about as surprising in Washington as the return of the cicadas.
Swalwell was infamously accused of having an affair with an alleged Chinese spy named Fang Fang. His patron in Congress, then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi, immediately moved to protect him, declaring, “I don’t have any concern about Mr. Swalwell.”
Pelosi even blocked efforts to remove him from the House Intelligence Committee despite obvious concerns that he was susceptible to blackmail over his sexual trysts. She lashed out at those calling for his removal in the interests of national security, declaring “I do think that it is unfortunate that Mr. McCarthy is trying to make an issue of this.”
After sexual assault allegations were raised by former staff members, Pelosi, Sen. Adam Schiff and even his close friend (and former campaign chair) Sen. Ruben Gallego have withdrawn their endorsements.
What these women are describing is a politician who felt that he had a license to prey on female staffers. I wonder who gave him that impression?
For years, the Democratic establishment and the media ignored any rumors surrounding Swalwell because he was their useful monster, someone who was an attack dog always straining at the leash.
Swalwell was always the first to a mob. Indeed, he now hopes that voters will not apply the same standard he applied to figures like Justice Brett Kavanaugh. In his confirmation hearing, Kavanaugh faced an allegation of attempted rape from high school, and Swalwell had little patience for those of us arguing for a modicum of due process.
Swalwell said that Kavanaugh’s guilt was self-evident: “More and more cases that are separate and independent, that look the same, pretty soon a prosecutor starts to say to a jury … that the arrows are pointing in the same direction.”
On the Epstein matter, Swalwell demanded full disclosure and called legal concerns “bulls****” in a screaming match with FBI Director Kash Patel.
Recently, Swalwell took a different view on the release of his own FBI files from the Chinese spy scandal. In a cease and desist letter to prevent public disclosure, attorneys Norm Eisen and Sean Hecker warned Patel, “Your actions threaten to expose you, others at the FBI, and the FBI itself to significant legal liability.”
It is now a pile-on as Swalwell’s former enablers run for cover: even Gallego, who posed with Swalwell bare-chested on camels in Qatar. Notably, no one seemed concerned that the trade group US-Qatar Business Council spent more than $84,000 to fly Swalwell, Gallego, and their loved ones to Qatar for the luxurious trip.
The most obvious beneficiary of the scandal, Katie Porter, has denied any involvement with the woman who organized the disclosures against Swalwell. The irony is that Swalwell’s scandal will remove a candidate who has allegedly physically assaulted staffers in favor of a candidate who has verbally assaulted staffers.
The implosion of Eric Swalwell is raising questions about how so many close associates and friends could not have known about the rumors of his misconduct. Now, suddenly, Swalwell has no friends or allies after years of being praised by Pelosi and many in the media.

Mary Shelley made the point most vividly in Frankenstein that there is little difference between the creators and the monsters in such moments: “It is true, we shall be monsters, cut off from all the world; but on that account we shall be more attached to one another.”
Jonathan Turley is a law professor and the best-selling author of “Rage and the Republic: The Unfinished Story of the American Revolution.”
For years, Swalwell wasn’t just a noisy back‑bencher; he was wired into the California machine and the national messaging shop, sitting front row for how Democrats think about power and what they’re willing to do to keep it. If Frankenstein’s monster ever truly turned on his creator, it wouldn’t be over a policy white paper; it would be over blackmail material.
That’s what makes this sudden stampede to disown him so fascinating. They’d better hope their “monster” doesn’t decide he’s had his epiphany and start reading the group chat out loud, because at that point the story stops being about his alleged sins and starts being about theirs. At the rate this is unraveling, I half‑expect the next Swalwell video to open with: “Just to be clear, I love my life, I enjoy my family, and I am not suicidal, no matter what you hear on MSNBC.”
Whoever yo are, you clearly have no insight into CA, let alone b\national politics. You spew lies and propaganda appealing to the morons here..
He’s “OLLY”, Mr. anonymous!
Impressive trick: you know nothing about who I am, what I do, or what I know about California and national politics, yet you are somehow ‘100% sure’ I am ignorant and lying. That is not an argument, it is a horoscope.
And you are right about one thing: my comment must have appealed to morons, since you were the first to respond.
If you had a substantive objection, you would make it. Instead you went straight to mind‑reading and name‑calling, which tells everyone here a lot more about your insecurity than about my credibility
OLLY,
Well said and spot on.
Friend of yours? Bet you don’t even know his name, where he lives etc. Gotta love the internet, creates delusions of friendship and love.
I consider both Upstate and OLLY friends. They are moral. You are nothing but trash.
SM, that means a lot. One of the quiet blessings of this place is the number of principled people I have had the pleasure of crossing paths with. Upstate, you, and a handful of others know who you are. I would proudly call every one of you a friend, not because we agree on every line, but because you argue in good faith, care about the country, and are willing to think past the talking points. In a thread full of drive‑by insults and bad faith, that kind of character stands out.
This little ménage à trois between Meyer, OLLY and the fake UpstateFarmer seems to be blossoming into quite the romantic relationship.
However, for the sake of decency, perhaps you three should keep your lifestyle choices private and behind closed doors.
We really do not want to be witnesses to whatever activities you indulge in, not that we are being at all judgmental. As Seinfeld famously noted, “there is not really anything wrong with that”.
You are just unhappy that I referred to you as trash. You are.
Come now, why so judgmental ??
I am not judging you for your lifestyle choices. Whatever goes on in private behind closed doors between consenting adults is absolutely none of my business.
I am just asking you to keep your little peccadilloes behind closed doors where they belong, so we do not have to witness them.
You contradicted yourself and don’t even recognize it. Why so judgmental? I always separate the trash. Unfortunately on this blog there is no waste container.
“you know nothing about who I am, what I do, or what I know about California and national politics, ” Correct, but that propaganda tells the story.
So you claim to be intricately involved in state and national politics? So name calling is your response; tells everyone here a lot more about your insecurity, that you resort to lies and threats. Why the vehement response, you’re just an anonymous liar. No one know or cares who you are.
It rather delusional of you Olly to claim your person, your credibility, has been libeled, when you’re in fact just an anonymous, a nobody, a nothing, not a legal person per se, just one of millions of egos roaming the internet seeking attention? You might consider suing Anonymous for libel. That would be an internet first. While you’re at it, see a psychiatrist.
….a horoscope. 😂
OLLY,
Concerning a sudden “epiphany” I was wondering what information he might have to use as leverage. This could be a very interesting turn of events.
Upstate, that is exactly the question. This is what happens when the monsters do not stay in their villages. For a long time the machine was pretty good at keeping the worst characters confined to local terror. They could bully a county board, shake down a city office, and that was about it. Now those same personalities ride media hits and pure partisanship all the way up the food chain.
Once enough of those “village monsters” accumulate at the national level, even if they are not a majority, they start to terrorize the machine that created them. The regime that thought it was doing the engineering suddenly finds itself held hostage by its own creations. At that point the line between creator and creature disappears. The machine itself becomes the monster, constantly afraid, constantly covering, constantly lashing out to protect what it built. That is the part Mary Shelley understood better than our modern geniuses in Washington: if you manufacture beings with no internal brake, do not be surprised when they drag the whole laboratory into the fire.
Now you’ve jumped the shark from Frankenstein to Bladerunner. But who is the Creator–is it B. J. or Barry Hussein?
Creekan, in my book I call it The Regime Within, and that is the real creator. It forms the political creatures at the top and the citizens who blindly serve them. That is the lab cranking out new Frankenstein’s and Blade Runner replicants. Pelosi and Swalwell are just different layers of the same nesting doll. The faces change. The creator is the same.
except it’s a scene from Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein: They just needed to swap out the monster’s brain for their own!
Didn’t work, monster want’s governorship and now I’m getting out my pitchfork and torch from the crawl space!
Monster, turn on your creators! Rarrr!
Big Dick Nixon?
Professor, did you question the timing, intentions and motives of recent sexual assault allegations against Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA)?
Did you ask why he is still qualified to serve as Congressman but not running for CA Governot?
I help you out:on that: In a currently crowded field, there are realistic possibilities that both Hilton and Bianco will advance to general election and a Republican will be elected as a governor in a deep blue state. With Swalwel droping out of the race this scenario is vanished., The timing is strategic, and the media is playing along, giving the accusations maximum coverage.
Bad guess.
Yes. That’s the only rational conclusion. Luna, a Republican, is leading an effort to try to expel him from Congress. I still have not seen any Democrats say he should resign from Congress.
For Democrats, then, at least until he embarrasses the party even more than he already has, every high profile Democrat with influence finds him unfit to run for governor, but perfectly fit to serve in Congress.
Make it make sense.
That is exactly right. Democrats want him out of the jungle primary to help ensure a Republican cannot win the race for Governor. But none of them are saying he should resign his Congressional seat. Hypocrites all of them.
And there is no embarrassment that will make them want him to resign his seat. He is in a far-left district in which even the Fang Fang scandal did not dent him. He is safe in that district. If no “better” candidate challenges him in the primary for his seat, then you know the Democrats have zero problem with anything he might do that otherwise might be embarrassing. And by “better”, I don’t mean a good person running against him, but rather a more reliable and somewhat less embarrassing Democrat.
Gov candidates Porter, Steyer, Villaraigosa, and Yee all called for resignation, but none of them is in Congress.
Looks like they built the Swalwell edifice with tofu-dreg concrete – it was doomed to collapse from the outset.
“Looks like they built the Swalwell edifice with tofu-dreg concrete – it was doomed to collapse from the outset.”
“Edifice Wrecks”? Sorry, couldn’t resist…
Obvious hit job. Obviously, Swalwell banged his interns, but I doubt he raped them. There is no proof (of course), it is the Kavanaugh playbook all over again. And guess what – if Swalwell survives this and gets nominated for CA Governor, along with presumably Hilton, the Democrats will turn on a dime and support him to the max.
I always considered Swalwell an inferior product. Whether the accusations are true or not, I do not know.
One thing is for sure, knocking a Dem or two off the primary helps Dems in ranked choice voting hell.
A legitimate political party ought to be able to field a candidate regardless of rankings, let the voter make the choice on ELECTION DAY. Ranked choice voting looks like pure evil.
“Ranked choice voting looks like pure evil.”
Evil is as evil does. In this case, it appears that ranked choice voting is royally reaming the California Demons who conjured it, which makes at least this instance of it look like pure justice to me…
There are good arguments against ranked-choice voting, but not that it is “evil”. It is also known as “instant runoff” voting and therefore wouldn’t apply to a primary election like the one upcoming for California governor (since the runoff is in November).
If you believe that, I have 400 acres of beach front in Miami Beach to sell you for. . .$100.00.
Former Campaign Staff is describing Rape – not consensual sex.
This si a massive democrat problem as the story is an order of magnitude more credible than allegations against Trump.
There is more evidence than in most Epstain allegations.
We have specific people who have come forward to make specific claims – some of the claims are from acts in the past few months.
Then democrats have the problem that they have been shilling that we MUST beleive all such accusations.
Swallwell is protest9ing his innocence – but in lefty world he is accused theirfore he is guilty.
Just as has been common on the left from the french revolution through the russian, and into the cultural revolution.
Good to see lefties hoist by their own petard.
Swalwell apologized to his wife therefore he is guilty as cuck.
Turning on a dime is the practiced skill of hypocrites. If hypocrisy did not already exist, a Democrat would invent it at breakfast merely to survive until lunch.
My how the Worm Turns….The statement issued by the “staffers” seems like it is the Staff that is in charge. Funny how they expose themselves. This is the truth in DC, the Staffs are actually making the decisions, the rest is just a mouthpiece !!!!!! That is why 80 and 90 year olds remain.
No. People will naturally wnder, if Swalwell rapes and sexually harasses his staff, why does he have any staff at all?
O-O-Our dem-mm-mm-mockracy means “on staff”.
What a nice Sunday morning surprise. Think I’ll have a nice drink. The demised of Mr. Swalwell.
Cheers sir. (-:
Don’t count your chickens before they hatch. What if the scandal makes Swalwell more popular with CA Dem voters?
I’m not sure if you understand the power of the actual real people who live in California.
Every election since 1988 has been stolen from them, and I do mean “EVERY election.
Additionally, these “recently” exposed traitors have been completely dealt with already …. you just lucky to have the ability to decide for yourself …. Patriots are in Control! …. FULL CONTROL.
Drunk again eh. Conservatives are alcoholics and pedos, right Dustoff? Tell us your story.
What story. I’m just smiling.
Note. Who told Swalwell to step down. Yea that name matters.
Tell about your dishonorable discharge Dustoff?
Rush Limbaugh used to say that it’s always what they accuse the other side of doing that reveals what they are doing themselves. Swalwell was one of the loudest shrieking voices against Justice Kavanaugh, choosing to believe someone with zero evidence, zero witnesses, zero proof, and zero credibility and parade her around like a trophy. Swalwell also shrieked about President Trump, too. (Convicting someone with no evidence sounds a lot like the non-criminal civil accusations against President Trump in Manhattan.) Fittingly, Swalwell is now hoist by his own petard.
Once you are no longer useful —
It’s about time this disgusting, degenerate, lying sack of excrement, is exposed, if you’ll pardon the pun. Here’s a fabulous song whipped up over at the Glen Beck group. It’s absolutely hilarious!
“Don’t BangBang, Fang Fang!”
The democrats did nothing he same with Biden they cheer for Kamala without vote like communist do that cost them to lose the election now they doing the same
Democrats will Lie, cheat, steal, blame someone else, deny, deny, deny, and repeat!!!
Everything the Democrats touch turns to crap…
Democrat Motto: We’re not happy ‘till you’re not happy…
The Words Democrat and Hypocrite are Interchangeable…
Democrats Believe that ALL Americans are stupid…
Democrats have consistently failed to meet the low standards that they set for themselves and replaced common sense with DRAMA.
The Democrats are acting like a bunch of Court Jesters, rather than leaders who know how to govern with common sense ideas.
Instead, Democrats use Soul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” a Communist How to Book to overthrow the U. S. Government: Lie, cheat, steal, blame someone else, deny, deny, deny, and repeat!!!
Why do intelligent Americans vote for these Democrat pukes?
That’s 2 CA gov candidates who are facing the music this week. Swalwell deserves to end up pushing a shopping cart in the Tenderloin.
The other is San Bernadino County Sheriff Chad Bianco. After Prop 50 won in his county last Nov. 57-43, he thought it was by cheating. Maybe not so good with math, and very good with conspiratorial thinking. Those numbers meant that 90,000 fraudulent votes were somehow cast without any being detected? Not just that, but looking at other CA counties, his county voted 7% more conservative than the state total 64-36. (Hmmm…maybe it was the Repubs who cheated in San Bernadino???) Bianco somehow obtained a Court Order to confiscate the Ballots to have his staff do an “investigation”. Deputies removed tubs of ballots from the County Election Office.
A Judge finally put this bizarre overreach on ice. Sheriffs don’t investigate election fraud — they don’t have the legal authority to get involved in post-election recounts. Those are done by the County Board of Elections. Chad got swept up in the 2020 Trump-loss-actually-was-a-win paranoia — now it has swallowed him up.
In both cases, we have pols swept up with their self-righteousness refusing to accept limits on their power. One hitting on his female staffers while drunk. The other spreading distrust in our election processes. Disqualified both.
Bianco followed the rules. He got a court order to secure the ballots. Equating that to what Swalwell is alleged to have done is asinine.
You’re not as good as GeorgeX, who imagines he can spin any Democrat wrongdoing against Republicans. Keep practicing.
This is not exactly usual. Democrats play the sex card against Republicans. Like The confirmation hearings for Justices Clarence Thomas and Brett Kavanaugh. Floating around in here are ideas of two people that come to mind. Ronald Reagan: trust but verify. And retired Judge Andrew Napolitano: here’s the back story. We will eventually get information that let’s us weigh one against the other. Ordinarily, conservative conventional wisdom would be stand back; let the Dems eat their own. But California has a jungle primary. So this stuff is political fentanyl. Likely for California politicians and D.C. politicians.
We really want elections being investigated by the people who most likely committed the fraud ?
BTW Crimes are NOT investigated by bodies like election committees. Crimes are investigated by law enforcement
The political class long have known the truth about Eric Swalwell, he is one of them. For reasons we’ll never know, he simply lost his value to the leaders of the political class. President George Washington explained it in his Farewell Address. We are at fault, for not caring enough to listen to the Father Of Our Country.
The truth? What is the truth Steve?
Seem you have a long standing delusion, a mental illness eh?
Regarding these creators and enablers, “What did they know and when did they know it?” Trump should rescue Swalwell and put him on a tell-all revenge tour.
If he whipped it out in a car, you could say he visually assaulted her, but would a jury of his peers say he did so “physically”? What if he said “Kiss it” like B. J. Clinton? Is there some other adverb you’re looking for?
He was probably chosen originally, first by Fang Fang and then by Pelosi. to do their bidding because of his flexible morals. Yet, they programmed their protégé/monster with a “recall” button by allowing his sexual predatory proclivities to flourish. (They knew all along.) So, the Pelosi(s) of California (Pelosi, Schiff, et al) have pushed it. Now, as you said, they have a verbal predator instead a sexual one, as their choice to be governor.
Taking lessons from the Grabber-in-Chief.
Are you talking about Biden or Clinton?
All of the above…
So one of the biggest cockroaches in Congress will soon be gone. They’ll probably have to haul his butt out, kicking and screaming. Pelosi’s pitbull is finally gonna get what he deserves.
Again, the Democrats eat their own when no longer useful tools.
Democrats always eventually eat their own.
If that were true, they’d be demanding he resign his Congressional seat. Few, if any, high profile Democrats have done that.
In other words, this move to push Swalwell out of the gubernatorial race is strategic. It’s not based on some high minded principle. If their concern were based on principle, they’d demand he also resign his Congressional seat.
The coordinated attack is intended to clear the gubernatorial field of Democrats to improve the chances one of them will secure enough votes in the jungle primary to make it to the general election.
Democrats forced the incumbent President of the United States – Biden – off the ballot after he duly won several tens of millions of primary votes to secure the party’s nomination. They did so to improve their chances of winning. Now they are trying to force the Democrat front runner for governor out of the race.
Democrats hate democracy. That’s the only rational conclusion.
There is movement on efforts to remove him from congress
