Ro Khanna Launches Bid as Class Warrior with Expanded Wealth Tax Pledge

Below is my column in the California Post and New York Post on Rep. Ro Khanna confirming that the Billionaire Tax is really not a Billionaire Tax, but rather should be used to target the wealth of others. It is the latest manifestation of the class warfare being unleashed before the midterm elections.

Here is the column:

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) just moved to outbid his Democratic colleagues in the presidential auction. With the radical left sweeping away establishment figures in favor of socialists, various prospective presidential candidates are offering up key institutions in their effort to appease the mob.

The Supreme Court has been the starting bid. Kamala HarrisPete Buttigieg and Josh Shapiro have yielded to the mob and embraced court packing.

Khanna is not to be outdone. After his disastrous campaigning for Graham Platner, Khanna is returning to a sure winner: Class warfare.

Last week, Khanna confirmed that the “billionaire tax” is just the start and that they will go on to target the wealth of other citizens as an untapped resource of new revenue.

For years, some of us have warned that the billionaire tax was a ruse. Sponsors like Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Khanna were using billionaires as an easy political target, but they were unlikely to stop there.

The challenge is to get the tax through the courts, which is why it is so essential to pack the court. Warren notably was an early advocate of both changes.

I discuss the tax in my book “Rage and the Republic” as an example of the “eat-the-rich” politics used by demagogues from ancient Athens to the French Revolution. Politicians seek to divide a population into “haves” and “have-nots” with the promise that citizens could have it all if only they are given back power.

Warren tried to use the tax to restart her moribund 2020 presidential campaign. During one debate, she dramatically told the rich she was coming after “your Rembrandts, your stock portfolio, your diamonds and your yachts.” She thrilled the crowd by greedily rubbing her hands together after saying she would take some of the wealth of fellow candidate John Delaney, a self-made millionaire.

The problem is that a federal billionaire tax (which is distinct from California’s billionaire tax that will be on the upcoming state ballot) is, in my view, completely unconstitutional. The federal government secured the right to tax individuals in 1913, but the 16th Amendment only approved income taxes.

As made clear by Warren, Democrats want to tax people for the things that they bought after paying their taxes from homes to art to boats.

If they can pack the Court and greenlight a billionaire tax, there would be no limit to then moving the threshold wealth level downward. Once that Rubicon is crossed, Democrats would suddenly be able to tax trillions in the property and possessions of citizens.

That is precisely what Khanna finally admitted last week in a Substack post, arguing that “the tax should not stop at billionaires; it must reach centimillionaires. The tax has to reach all fortunes $50 million and up.”

The wealth tax is the closest this country has come to an open redistribution-of-wealth effort, a core agenda item for the rising socialist movement.

Other countries such as France tried wealth taxes with disastrous results. Not only did it fail to generate the expected revenue (the wealth left the country en masse), but it also had to be rescinded. In Norway, the government kept reducing the level of targeted assets to six-figure thresholds.

The national tax is meant to address the growing disaster in California, which has reportedly lost trillions as the wealthy flee the high-tax state. Khanna and other Democrats hope to give the wealth nowhere to flee by taking this “hunt-the-rich” effort national.

In making this pitch, Khanna is trying to achieve the political stunt of the century. Khanna is reportedly worth roughly half a billion dollars thanks to his wife’s inheritance. He is not alone among the super wealthy Democrats declaring themselves the champions of the proletariat.

After all, there’s Illinois Gov. Jay Robert “JB” Pritzkerwho also inherited his fortune. In a July interview with CNN, Pritzker virtually begged the mob that he is a different kind of billionaire, pointing at Trump billionaires as the rightful targets (not him with $4.3 billion).

Others found themselves on the wrong side of the mob.

Rep. Dan Goldman, who inherited a massive fortune of almost $300 million as a trust baby, unwisely promised to help subsidize his congressional reelection campaign from his family fortune. Goldman fell flat with the socialist and increasingly antisemitic base — and was crushed by over 30 points.

Khanna hopes to stay ahead of that mob by leading it to the homes of other wealthy citizens.

As for California, the state is already showing how class warfare does not quite work if the upper classes simply leave with their wealth, businesses and jobs.

The state is facing a crippling debt of billions as its tax base contracts. Rather than reducing spending and waste, California Democrats and unions are pushing for unprecedented new taxes despite the exodus to low-tax states such as Florida and Texas.

It is an example of economic Darwinism, where citizens who are slow to flee are being fleeced by some of the highest taxes, gas prices and the cost of living in the nation.

At the same time, core services from education to public safety remain subpar at a premium price.

In the meantime, the far left is already moving even further and faster than establishment candidates like Khanna.

The Democratic Socialists have floated possible additions to their platform, including allowing Congress not just to pack the Court but also to pick Supreme Court justices. There is also a call for the elimination of the Senate, the defunding defense and immigration programs, open borders and allowing noncitizens to vote.

Those are the very type of measures that the Jacobins used in France to create “direct” democratic powers.

The Framers rejected such measures as offering little more than a “mobocracy.” It was the reason that our country became the oldest and most prosperous republic in history while France became “the Terror.”

Khanna, Pritzker and others may hope that they can still harness the power of the mob. However, history is not on their side.

For all of their promises of radical changes to our constitutional system and wealth taxes, these establishment figures will be devoured in the very class warfare that they seek to unleash.

  1. There is nothing honest or genuine about Ro Khanna. He is a wealthy man himself and recently lied about his trip to Israel. It has been revealed he did not contact anyone about his visit to the West Bank and tried to create hate towards Israel. His is a troublemaker and he should be put out to pasture as soon as possible. He is not what our entry needs or wants.

    1. Khanna, a sitting member of Congress, was attacked at gunpoint by Israeli vigilanties. Even Netanyahu condemned what they did–which, of course, he’s going to have to do to keep that US money and weapons coming. Khanna and his party had to be rescued by the Israeli military. These vigilanties know that they are occupying land belonging to the Palestinians. And, why shouldn’t a member of Congress be allowed to visit the place where US taxpayer dollars are being spent?

      1. His initial complaint was that he was attacked and detained by the IDF. He was very clear about that.

      2. Natasha, you are a fool and know nothing about the Palestinians or Judea and Samaria.

You were told all these things before, and you cannot refute them and don’t want to because you are a liar. When you were young, and people talked about the Palestinians, they were talking about the Jews. That is how ignorant you are.

        1. Who is Natasha, and how do you know what I was told about anything when I was young? Khanna was attempting to visit the illegally-occupied West Bank when his vehicle was stopped by armed Israeli settlers, who operate under the protection of the Israeli military. US taxpayers are subsidizing Israel that is violating international law by stealing land belonging to the Palestinian people, and Israel allows the illegal “settlers” to abuse US citizens. From MSN:

“Israel’s military and settler presence in the occupied West Bank is illegal under international law.

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled in 2024 that the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territory, including Gaza, is unlawful.

“Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, and the regime associated with them, have been established and are being maintained in violation of international law,” the top United Nations tribunal said.

Israeli settlers – often under the protection of the Israeli military – regularly attack Palestinian communities in the West Bank, ransacking farms and property and assaulting people who come in their way. That includes Americans.

One year ago, for instance, Israeli settlers beat 20-year-old US citizen Sayfollah Musallet to death.

Three weeks later, another American citizen, a father of five from Chicago named Khamis Ayyad, was also killed in a settler attack.

No suspects have been charged with crimes after the two attacks.

Despite well-documented abuses against US citizens, Israel was added to the US visa waiver programme in 2023, allowing Israelis to travel visa-free to the US.”

You defend whatever Israel does, no matter what. Ro Khanna did nothing wrong. The Israeli settlers are illegally occupying land belonging to the Palestinians.

          1. ” how do you know what I was told about anything when I was young?”

I guess you never read a newspaper or were exposed to anything outside your home.

” belonging to the Palestinian people,”

What factual material did you ever provide to prove that? Do you know the Cave of the Patriarchs is in Hebron, Judea? Probably not. That is where Abraham, Issac, and Jacob are buried.

You talk so much with so little knowledge, and what you say you repeat, but are unable to debate your points.

  2. “. . . California, which has reportedly lost trillions as the wealthy flee . . .” (JT)

I don’t know how some of you weather the constant deceptions and manipulations by some on this blog.

    Here’s just one example:

Those “lost trillions” means the combined *net worth* of those who have fled California (e.g., Zuckerberg, Brin, Page). The deceivers switch net worth to mean a state’s GDP, in one breath, and a state’s budget, in another breath. Net worth is *not* GDP nor is it a government’s budget.

    1. Sam, it’s still BS. Net worth has absolutely nothing to do with California’s economy. It’s amazing how you fail so spectacularly at basic math. Reality is not helping you make your case.

      1. GSX, you were already corrected. When Musk gets his huge payment from Tesla, as he did before, it will be in the billions, and California will not be able to tax a dime. When Musk sells Billions of Tesla stock to buy another company, California will not realize a dime. California will not make money on any of the high-earners that follow him, nor will it make any money from the commerce he creates outside of California.

It’s basic math that an ignorant guy like you doesn’t understand. If you did have something to say, you would jump on me, but you can’t. I am insulated by your ignorance.

  3. Ro is a total hypocrite. Let’s make it easy Ro. Give away all of the assets you’ve sheltered in your kids’ names. Turn the trusts Ro’s spoiled brats ownership interests that includes Barrington Golf Club, Sand Ridge Golf Club, and Mayfield Country Club to avoid taxes. and then use 90% of your (and your wife’s) wealth and build homeless shelters on those courses. He’s a hypocrite and basic Dem scum.

    1. Exactly. This guy makes me very nervous. His goal appears to be presidential office. The way people vote when promised free stuff without discernment regarding the candidate make him a viable threat to our current way of government. While not perfect, it’s far superior to socialism.

  4. That Enterprising Billionaire In The White House

President Donald Trump earned more than $635 million from a licensing agreement with a cryptocurrency group specializing in “meme” coins bearing his name last year, an amount that pushed his total crypto holdings past $1 billion, according to a lengthy financial disclosure form he released Tuesday.

The figures from 2025 — the first year of Trump’s second term — were disclosed to the U.S. Office of Government Ethics in a 927-page document. By comparison, President Barack Obama’s final disclosure form was eight pages, while President Joe Biden’s was 11. Vice President JD Vance’s form for last year is 17 pages.

Trump’s meme-coin earnings came on top of more than $236 million worth from additional crypto token sales, and an additional sale of equity worth more than $65 million associated with Trump family crypto venture World Liberty Financial. There’s also more than $290 million classified as income from cryptocurrency wallets associated with World Liberty.

The $635 million was earned from a group called “Celebration Coins.” No digital footprint could be found for the group, and a representative for the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday night.

    ……………………………………….

Obviously these holding pose a conflict of interest. Crypto currency is still a new and risky form of speculation where small investors could easily get burned. But can we depend on this administration to implement needed regulations?

    1. This type of vanilla, generic comment is nearly meaningless. As you say, crypto is new. So . . . what act of Congress authorizes its regulation, and by what department? Perhaps none. But you want to criticize without any factual basis.

Comparing the number of pages in a financial disclosure between presidents is also meaningless. Obama was a community organizer (a/k/a socialist agitator). Trump, OTOH, was a businessman with a large portfolio of businesses. What jobs or economic value did Obama ever create to allow others to earn a living? What profit was ever generated from his creating economic value? None. But you act like Trump having more pages of financial disclosure is somehow bad. That’s communist thinking right there. Perhaps during the Cold War you could have made a living writing propaganda for the USSR. You have the right mindset.

        1. Is basic English grammar confusing to you? Look up the meaning of “could have been.”

      1. Estovir, show us an established source saying that Obama was a ‘community organizer’ prior to entering the White House.

      2. OMFK – at this time – crypto is hear to stay – there is too much market value and to many wealthy and powerful people that are involved.

It is not possible for government to kill it. It is not possible for government to change it. Government can only regulate it at the edges – such as at the exchanges – which are a convenience not a requirement.

    2. “President Donald Trump earned … ”
      So what ?

“Obviously these holding pose a conflict of interest.”
ROFL – – you know little about Crypto – OBVIOUSLY they do NOT.

“Crypto currency is still a new and risky form of speculation where small investors could easily get burned.”
I am personally bearish on the plethora of new Crypto but the top 10 cyrpto currencies are “volatile” but not the slightest risky as long term investments.

Bitcoin, Etherium and several of the others are NOT GOING AWAY, and NOT declining in value over any period of longer than 6 months.

But all of this is irrelevant.

” But can we depend on this administration to implement needed regulations?”
Absolutely no regulation of crypto is needed – you clearly no nothing about crypto.
There is some existing bad regulation of crypto – most of this is govenrment requirements for reporting on your tax return as well as government requirements for Crypto exchanges – these regulations are all a stupid idea . You can evade entirely crypto exchange regulation by keeping your crypto in your own personal crypto wallet. There are convenience reasons to use an exchange – there are also reasons to not use an exchange and regulations just diminishes the value of exchanges without changing anything.

There is some very limited value with respect to catching STUPID criminals from the regulation – but none of the regulation has any impact at all on smart criminals.

Separately most people do not understand Crypto – Trump may be the first american president who might have a good understanding of it.

Cryupto will eventually be a huge deal in the US – Jamie Diamond of JP morgan switched to pro Crypto several years ago.
Because he is not stupid and understands its value.

But the greatest value of crypto ALREADY is in countries without the financial institutions and services that developed nations have.

Crypto provides absolute protection against inflation in countries with very high inflation.
It provides all the benefits of credit and debit cards in countries that do not have those.
It provides a proof of purchase and “provenance” system that does not exist in much of the world.

In the US we already have credit and debit cards – Cyrpto is much better and safer, but it takes time to displace something that already exists.
The credit card companies are going to fight tooth and nail – because cyrpto performs credit clearance in fractions of a second – while debit cards take up to hours and credit cards take several days – this means that Banks and credit card companies collect interest on uncleared funds while they clear. Crypto does not an the clearance time is minuscule. Cyrpto will eventually free up about $2T in credit that is locked up in credit card transactions daily – that means there will be $2T more available to invest and that will raise US growth and standard of living – Not massively – but every little bit helps.

Cyrpto also replaces the US system of verfifying ownership of major (or minor) assets. If you buy something with cyrpto there is a public record in the block chain tracing that ownership back to the very first purchase of that item.

In the US we already have that for major assets – though our system is not as capable as Crypto – HOWEVER it has been in place for more than a century. In much of the world – people can not prove they own their home – that means they can not borrow against it.
That is a huge deal. The US will switch eventually – but not quickly again it is hard to displace a working system that people are familiar with – even if it is inferior.

You can steal someones crypto from them – and that includes government confiscation of crypto – but it is nearly impossible to spend the crypto you have stolen. Further -beyond the normal built in protections – the crypto system has incorporated black lists that independently make using that stolen crypto impossible even if you manage to get all the information needed to do so.

Imagine a system like debit and credit cards where you can not commit fraud ? Crypto already does that.
Governments do not like that feature because if they engage in “asset forfeiture” of Crypto – they can not turn the confiscated crypto to their own use. This does not stop criminal asset forfeiture – but it does disincentivize the broad use of asset forfeiture which is subject to massive abuse by law enforcement. Government can as an example confiscate the crypto of drug dealers – but they can not spend it.
It is Good to see governemnt confiscate the money of criminals. But when they can convert that to their own use it triggers a whole chain of abuses – including confiscating money from alleged criminals who are not criminals are never charged and never returning it .

These are just a few of the attributes of Crypto that make it better than existing money.

We are past the point at which govenrment can kill crypto

Bitcoin’s market cap is 1.3T today – Government is not going to destroy $1.3T in money.
      Etherium is $300B.

But even more importantly – neither governments nor banks today can redesign a new digital currency that suits THEIR needs better but the needs of consumers less.

Crypto is designed to replace all currency in the long run – and that will take a great deal of time – but it is likely to happen.

In the long run that is a huge deal – removing control of Money from Government from central banks and giving it to the marketplace, completely changes the rules of fiscal discipline that Governments must abide by.

The current US debt situation is near that of Countries that the IMF and World bank have intervened in and imposed draconian fiscal reforms on those governments. But the US primarily and other huge nations avoid that problem because the entire world has a stake in the stability of the Dollar. The world will NOT do to the US what it will do to Greece of Argentina when they behave fiscally poorly because the world will not commit suicide. When crypto truly starts to replace govenrment currencies like the dollar – ALL nations will be forced into fiscal responsibility.
We are likely decades away from that.

But I would note that the total bitcoin in the world today is about 2% of the total dollars in the world today – and rising steadily.

There are numerous other important attributes of crypto currencies. But the above is some of the highlights.

Bitcoin is more volatile in the short run than the dollar – but in the long run it is less risky.

Regardless, we are past the point of no return – Governments can not stop crypto anymore.
Nor can they make design changes. Any regulations are limited to the edges – to things that are not part of the design and engineering.
They can attempt to make you report crypto on your tax return – that is actually improper – it is like making you report your bank balance on your tax return. But government is still trying to pretend that Crypto is an investment – not money. Today when you see the value of Crypto rise long term that REALLY means the value of the Dollar is slowly declining. Crypto is immune to inflation

Little regulation si possible and none is actually necescary.

  5. Marxists are looters and tyrants who will steal your freedom and your property. They create poverty, misery and slavery for 90% of the population. In the history of the world, Marxists have never succeeded in making things better for anyone but themselves. And when they’ve finally looted all the wealth they can find, their system collapses on itself.

    1. The presidency is NOT a business. We don’t want people profiting off the presidency.

      1. True. But if the president happens to be a skilled businessman, it is not wrong for the president to profit from his businesses, as long as he does not use his position in the public sector as an unfair advantage in the business world. With that said, during the four years of his presidency, he should be spending the bulk of his time on carrying out the duties of the office rather than worrying about his private business. But that doesn’t mean he can’t spend *any* time on private business.

Or are you aware of a law to the contrary?

        1. Historically presidents have divested. Even George W sold his stake in the Texas Rangers. Why Trump be an exception?

          1. Why Trump be an exception?

The idea of an exception would make sense if there was a rule. You’ve basically admitted there is no rule. So your question boils down to, why should Trump do anything different than his predecessors? Has Trump ever done things in the same way as his predecessors on any topic? No. People hate him because they can’t control him.

            1. An out of control president is certainly something to worry about. A president like that might start a war he can’t finish. And that’s exactly what Trump has done.

              1. runing successful businesses is not “out of control”

We have had decades of presidents starting wars they could not finish as well as not ending wars they promised to end.

If Trump has actually started another “forever war” – while that would be bad – it would not make him any worse than Bush or Obama.

At this time there is no reason to beleive Trump has started a “forever war”.
In fact though I do not expect him to – Trump and the US can walk away now and it is unlikely the Government of the Ayatolahs will survive – but if it does it will be weakened and little threat to the world for decades.
And should that prove wrong – We or Israel and its new found Gulf Allies can rain some more fire and brimstone on Iran.

Trump is developing a new form of “gun boat” diplomacy. What we are seeing is NOT like Afghanistan or Iraq. The goal is not regime change. We are not invading. We are not conquering. We are merely destroying the ability of an enemy to engage in conduct we do not like.

This is quite different from anything prior presidents have done.

Will it work ? That remains to be seen.

But as I said – we could walk away now and declare success.

Currently Trump is after a deal – but a deal is just paper that reflect a reality that already exists.

The JCPOA was not enforced. It is possible that any written deal Trump gets will not be enforced by a later president.

What is true is that with or without paper – Iran will be pummelled by the US if they do not abide by whatever Terms Trump deems they must for as long as he is president.

Hoever you may feel about that – that is ALWAYS the enforcement mechanism. Contra left wing nut claims – Iran violotated the crap out of the JCPOA. Obama did nothing. That is what made the JCPOA meaningless.

An international agreement only means something if there are consequences to violating it that are greater than the benefits of violating it.

There are no international police to arrest criminal nations – Ultimately diplomacy only works if there are consequences for breaching agreements.

            2. People hate Trump because he is a liar, a racist, a misogynist, a narcissist and sociopath. He exists for power, attention, adulation and accumulating shiny gold objects.

Why should Trump divest, put his assets in the hands of a trustee that he doesn’t control or even communicate with, or place them with a mutual fund in which managers decide what stocks, bonds and other assets are purchased and traded without any communication with him, like every other president? Because he is in a position to manipulate laws and regulations, government purchases and contracts to benefit himself, his family, friends and campaign donors to the detriment of the rest of us. That’s a conflict of interest. Jimmy Carter sold his family peanut business when he got elected. Trump refuses to divest control of anything.

For example: Eric Trump has an ownership stake in a company that just got a multi million dollar government contract to build robots. What does Eric Trump know about building robots and would the Pentagon do business with an inexperienced person like Eric, if his name wasn’t Trump?

Trump awarded that no- bid contract to paint the reflecting pool to a campaign donor who had no experience in this kind of work. The cost ballooned from $1.2 million to $14 million and the pool still isn’t fixed.

              1. misogynist

Let’s just take this one accusation to see how much credibility you have. First female chief of staff – Susie Wiles. Appointed by Trump. Female cabinet members: Linda McMahon, Secretary of Education. Lori Chaves-DeRemer, Secretary of Labor. Kristi Noem, Secretary of Homeland Security. Brooke Rollins, Secretary of Agriculture.

Okay, now let’s look at the interests of women in competitive sports. Real women have been invaded and stripped of their rights by the trans movement. Real girls and women have been deprived of scholarship opportunities for which they have trained and worked their entire lives. Real women and girls have had their safe spaces invaded, such as locker rooms and showers. They have been raped in prison by trans inmates (biological men).

Nobody has gone to bat for them in a big way . . . until Trump. He has earned hatred for sticking up for the interests of actual women in all of these venues.

Gigi, you are so full of s**t it’s coming out of your ears. You have exactly zero credibility. You will never realize it though. You are too much of a psychotic psychopath. You are totally disconnected from reality.

                1. Susie Wiles is a brown nosed toady who does whatever Trump demands. She has no credibility. Kristi Noem? Ha ha ha ha…. You must be kidding. Except that her incompetence, cosplaying, wasting our tax money on luxuries while having an affair on the public payroll really wasn’t funny at all. She’s a disgrace.

One reason why we are in a war without any valid reason is because Trump had populated his entire cabinet with bootlickers who won’t contradict him or dispute any of his decisions. At least in his first term, there were people who pushed back against his worst instincts and reined him in. Not anymore.

No one really cares about the few trans women in sports. It’s one of those culture wars “issues “. As to restrooms, in some other countries, restrooms are unisex.

I literally laughed out loud at the notion that Trump “went to bat” for women. He BRAGGED about sexually assaulting them and getting away with it. He was adjudicated a sexual assaulter and has forked over more than $5 million. Many other women have accused him of sexual misconduct. He falsified business records to cover up a payment to a porn actress, he cavorted with a nude model and he has cheated on all 3 of his wives. He is adding to the victimization of the Epstein victims by refusing to release the files— after promising to do so (another lie to get elected). Instead, he is protecting the pedophiles. There are allegedly credible reports that Trump sexually assaulted an underage girl documented in the Epstein files.

                  1. Susie Wiles won an election that no one would have beleived was winnable in 2021.

Noem was the successful governor of a state. What have you succeeded at.

We are in IRan to stop them from getting a nuclear weapon and to stop them from terrorizing their neighbors and disrupting much of the world.

Absolutely Trump has a cabinet that are Team players – they are concurrently competing and cooperating and they are accomplishing the Agenda that people voted for.

The american people elected Trump and they voted for his agenda – not Rubios not Noem’s not Hegseth’s

Trump appointed them to accomplish for Him and for US that agenda – and they are doing so.

This is one of the significant differences between Trump 47 and Trump 45 – this whole administration – Not just Trump are goal oriented and driven and the goal is the promises made tot he american people in the campaign that won the election.

Do these people share EXACTLY the vision that Trump has ? No. But they do share that vision with respect to the part of it they are tasked withn accomplishing – and despite the fact that Trump is technically a lame duck – this presidency is more focused on accomplishing those promises than any other – including Trump’s first term.

Further these people are all competing for THEIR FUTURE – Trump wioll be gone soon enough – THEY will not.

They are not just working for Trump – they are working for THEIR future.

“No one really cares about the few trans women in sports.”
Sorry ALOT of people care – including you lefties. – but the majority do NOT want men in womens sports.

“It’s one of those culture wars “issues “. ”
It is and one the left chose badly.

“As to restrooms, in some other countries, restrooms are unisex.”
In the US wee have some unisex bathrooms – not the issue.
Men in Womens bathrooms is the issue.
Particularly Bopys in girls locker rooms.

New construction is moving towards more and more unisex and or family restrooms in businesses – few have problems with that. No one is in the restroom with you.

As to the rest – the election adjudicated those things – voters either rejected your lies or do not care.

Get over it – you lost.

              2. “People hate Trump because he is a liar, a racist, a misogynist, a narcissist and sociopath. He exists for power, attention, adulation and accumulating shiny gold objects.”

Most people do not hate Trump – left wing nuts do. Some people love him, some like him some are so so, some do not like him.
Most like some things and dislike others – only a small cadre of left wing nuts hate him.
Sociopaths are just a form of narcissist and most politicians are sociopaths. Most great leaders are sociopaths.
Sociopaths are very difficult to work with, but very few are actually criminals and most accomplish a great deal.
Regardless, if you do not like Trump’s persona – elect someone else.
Whatever you might say about him – has been said, Voters either rejected it or did not care.

                “Why should Trump divest”
                Correct – he shouldn’t.

Everything he is doing is right out in public.

There are no secret exchanges of cash in return for getting problem prosecutors in foreign countries fired and then laundering the cash through shell companies and secret foreign bank accounts.

Trump is NOT like every other president – we did not elect him to be like every other president.
We elected him because he is not like every other president.
We elected him to clean up the mess the left made – not to impoverish himself.

“Trump refuses to divest control of anything.”
Correct – Trump is NOT jimmy Carter – Carter was a great man – but he was not so great a president.
We did not elect Jimmy Carter in 2024. We elected someone to Fix a massive mess created by a president far worse than Jimmy Carter.

                “For example: Eric Trump”
I though you were talking about the president – not his family ?

Did Paul Pelosi divest – put their wealth in a blind trust when Nancy took office ?

What did Musk know about rockets before creating SpaceX ? What did Muck know about cars before creating Tesla ?

Warren Buffet has stakes in many many companies – What he KNOWS about them is that they will make money.
Is Buffet expert at the things those companies do – no!

Hunter Biden knows nothing about energy. That was not the issue with his involvement with Burisma.
The issue was not that he did not know their business. It was not that he was investing.
It was that he was Selling the power of the US govenrment for money.

If the govenrment contracts with companies that members of the Trump family have stakes in fail to deliver – then you have an issue.
until then – none of this is stuff you carted about when the Bidens, Obama’s and clintons were doing far worse.

Separately, I did not know much about micor computers when I bough the first one. I had no idea how to program before I started programming. I did not know how to write a printer driver – before I wrote a printer driver. I did not know how to write an operating system before I wrote an operating system, I did not know how to ….. Before I ….

Throughout my life I have constantly taken on projects that were outside what I knew.
And I have succeeded in them. In fact one of my major fortes and what I market is the ability as a small business to take on big complex broad multifaceted projects and do EVERYTHING required. That if you hire me you do not need experts in 10 different things.
This is not the best approach for everything – but it is an excellent approach for Somethings.
It is also fast and efficient and usually leads to better quality results 0 because iun the real world “experts” generally thing only about Their part of a problem and have little interest of skill in the parts of any problem outside their expertise.

This was one of the massive failures in dealing with Covid

            3. Trump was elected to do things differently from his predecessors.
He was also elected atleast partly because many beleive that someone incredibly successful in business might be just the person to bring fiscal discipline to government.

While you are correcdt – there are no “Rules”

Trump was elected specifically because he IS different from his predecessors.

              1. Even though you don’t exist: Trump got into office just like he gets most everything–HE LIED. LIED about Project 2025 being his agenda, after polls proved that most Americans disapproved of it AND we still do. On day one, he signed, without reading, 180 Executive Orders drafted Stephen Miller and the other soulless cretins who make up Project 2025. Trump LIED about lowering grocery and energy prices “on day one”–he had no skill or plan to do either, but found out, via polling, that this was something of concern to most Americans who might fall for this lie. Trump LIED about releasing all of the Epstein files–he never had any intention to do so, and never will because he is protecting the pedophiles whose names are in there, which might include him. He LIED about “no new wars”–then started one based on a lie from Netanyahu about Iran being on the verge of nuking us. He keeps on lying. He is 99% BS. Here is an excerpt from Wikipedia about Trump and his alleged real estate prowess–all smoke and mirrors:

“Within years of expanding his father’s property development business into Manhattan in the early 1970s, Trump attracted the attention of The New York Times for his brash and controversial style, with one real-estate financier observing in 1976, “His deals are dramatic, but they haven’t come into being. So far, the chief beneficiary of his creativity has been his public image.” Der Scutt, the prominent architect who designed Trump Tower, said in 1976, “He’s extremely aggressive when he sells, maybe to the point of overselling. Like, he’ll say the convention center is the biggest in the world, when it really isn’t. He’ll exaggerate for the purpose of making a sale.”[35] A 1984 GQ profile of Trump quoted him stating he owned the whole block on Central Park South and Avenue of the Americas. GQ noted that the two buildings Trump owned were likely less than a sixth of the block.[36]”

He took bankruptcy 6 times, and failed at dozens of businesses. He never was “incredibly successful in business”. He inherited the “real estate empire” of which he boasts. He has been “incredibly successful” at creating a false image of success based on braggadocio and playing people for suckers.

                1. I can’t believe that some people don’t understand that businesses declare bankruptcy all the time.

The Trump Organization is a Conglomerate of over 500 separate Businesses. Of these 500+ businesses, 6 have declared Bankruptcy, which is essentially a 1% rate of Bankruptcy. How many conglomerates would love to have a 99% success rate? After all, currently, over 50% of ALL businesses FAIL in the first year.

How many times has GMC declared bankruptcy (even discounting the one time they were ORDERED to by President Obama in order to obtain bailout funding) there have been multiple times for that one company alone.

Chapter 7 Bankruptcy results in Liquidation of the business. This happened recently when Spirit Airlines shut down.

Chapter 11 Bankruptcy is the more common form of Bankruptcy for businesses, and allows corporations to reorganize/restructure debt, as well as eliminate some of the debt owed. This was what happened when President Trump declared bankruptcy in the 6 cases, all of which were in the Hotel/Resort industry, in the New York and Atlantic City area, (Trump Taj Mahal (1991), Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino (1992), Plaza Hotel (1992), Trump Castle Hotel and Casino (1992), Trump Hotels and Casino Resorts (2004), and Trump Entertainment Resorts (2009).)

At the time of filing these bankruptcies, he filed them in a “pre-packaged” form, which is a method of telling the Court that an agreement had been reached with the Creditors prior to the filing, which allows the filing to go quickly and smoothly.

          2. GWB had to sell because he was a small minority holder of the investment group. He had no choice. Correlation is not causation.

          3. Actually no historically presidents have NOT. George Washington sold land to the govenrment at a profit while he was president.

        2. Trump is NOT a “skilled businessman”. He’s a grifter. Always was and always will be. It’s part of the Trump mystique to portray him as a financial genius — all smoke and mirrors. He has bankrupted a long list of businesses —including 2 casinos.

The bulk of that crypto income came from Middle Eastern oligarchs who were rewarded for lining Trump’s pockets with billions by being able to buy those advanced AI chips that weren’t supposed to leave the country because they pose a security threat. Regular investors— non billionaires — lost billions. Trump’s billionaire friends got out early and also made a killing off of the gullibles. Trump’s crypto is down 97% in value. Melania’s crypto is down 99%. If he were not occupying the White House, he wouldn’t have been able to sell any crypto. He is profiting off of the presidency and it’s wrong. Campaign donors and billionaire crypto purchasers are buying favors.

As to Melania, those millions paid to her for her “services” and to promote that flop of a movie was another way to purchase favors from Trump. It’s absolutely shameful.

          1. I realize that an insane, and mentally-deranged, hatred of Trump is literally driving you bonkers, but there’s a concept called giving credit where credit is due. The NYC real estate market is known to be one of the most difficult and shark-infested markets in the world. Yet Trump succeeded. Grand Hyatt Hotel: He successfully renovated the old Commodore Hotel near Grand Central in 1980. Trump Tower: Opened in 1982, this Fifth Avenue luxury tower became a global symbol of wealth and success. It established his reputation as a high-end developer. These are facts, not opinions.

      2. Trump isn’t in the Joe and Hunter Biden way. He even gives his Presidential salary away.

        1. Meyer, Trump’s income last year was in hundreds of millions. He aint ‘giving it away’. See above.

          1. And he was earning hundreds of millions of dollars before his presidency. Correlation is not causation. Joe and Hunter were earning millions of dollars because of his Presidency.

      3. Nothing produced has demonstrated that Trump is profiting off the presidency – he is profiting off NORMAL free market exchanges.

There are no secret deals – what trump is selling is known by everyone – and anyone is free to buy or not.

  6. Normal people wouldn’t touch pedophiles with a ten foot pole, but for some reason Turley is.
    It’s weird.

    1. Normal people wouldn’t touch pedophiles with a ten foot pole

True, but some normal people nowadays have 11-foot poles.

      1. You must really live in a bubble. Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie have been leading the charge to release the Epstein files. They co-sponsored the Epstein Transparency Act (which the Justice Department refused to comply with) and every time for a month you saw the Epstein survivors, you saw Khanna and Massie.

      1. The Trump Organization built and has built golf courses all over the world. This one is no different, and the NYT doesn’t have one fact to demonstrate that Trump is guilty of any impropriety.

Your lack of intelligence is not an excuse for ignorance.

        1. Relying on the NY Times, a former newspaper, is generally considered bad form.

              1. Meyer, why don’t you tell us. What is the correct news source Americans should follow??

                1. Start going to the source to check out what you read. If a source is untrustworthy, I don’t bother with it. I recognize and accept that all people have biases, but some are trustworthy, so they are more credible than others. Some of the think tanks provide good information. Try Hoover, The Manhattan Institute, AEI. Claremont and Brookings, though, Brookings sometimes leans too far left. Each one has its own focus: urban, free market, populist, and Brookings, which is supposed to be the centrist giant but leans left.

The most important thing in determining truth is logic.

              2. No point asking Meyer any questions. You will never get a straight answer.
He is not even a real person.
He is just a very poorly programmed bot originating from hackers in a third world country who are minimally familiar with the English language, and the bot is powered by Natural Stupidity, rather than Artificial Intelligence.

                1. Sigmund the Fraud is voicing his meaningless opinion. He is not much different than GSX, the moron. Sig-O is just as wordy, but since he is a moron as well, he has learned not to deal with facts. In that way, he doesn’t require correction.

Final Grade: Moronic Moron, Defeated Deflector, and Sick-O Sig

        2. Meyer, this story is the tip of the iceberg. Trump’s income surged dramatically last year. Crypto currencies was a big part of that income. And most small investors lost on Trump’s meme coins.

          1. “Meyer, this story is the tip of the iceberg.”

You are correct, and the story is completely underwater.

        1. How so? Trump threw Epstein out of Mar-a-Lago, along with other things.

Why don’t you list the actions of Trump you are considering, along with the dates? Will you do that? Of course not. Why? Because you are blowing smoke and using slander rather than facts. You hated Trump 20 years before DJT was born and even longer before you were born.

          1. My response, which got me accused of TDS, didn’t mention Trump. I wasn’t avoiding Trump or changing the subject. I was referring to Turley changing the focus from what Khanna is best known for which is the Epstein files. H0ow did I not mention Trump? By not mentioning him, though he is in the Epstein files over 1,000 times.

            1. “My response, which got me accused of TDS, didn’t mention Trump.”

Enigma, what did “Didn’t even mention Trump, you must know he was in deep with Epstein.” mean?

    1. Is the anonymous above really concerned for black and brown people? Or are they just a false flag liberal trying to stir mischief?

    2. Counter-examples are easy to find. Professor Turley has written favorably about Justice Thomas, for example. He has had good things to say about Tim Scott, and has defended Judge Janice Rogers Brown from attacks during her confirmation process.

      1. “Counter-examples are easy to find…”

Very recently I also seem to recall Prof. Turley heaping well-deserved praise on Thomas Sowell. What the poster really meant is that Turley seldom has a nice word to say about Marxist ghetto thugs of color who want to tear down the Republic so that they can live high on the hog for a brief period; until all of the ill gotten wealth they plan to steal from productive people (of all colors) permanently runs out.

        1. seldom has a nice word to say about Marxist ghetto thugs of color

Or any Marxist ghetto thugs, regardless of color. When they cry racism, they are obfuscating. The criticism is against leftist thugs, regardless of race. So they respond by blowing smoke.

    3. I don’t hear you saying anything nice about black and brown people yet I know you are a racist.

  7. National Debt Needs Attention

The national debt is the money the federal government has borrowed to cover the outstanding balance of expenses incurred over time. To pay for a deficit, the federal government borrows additional funds, which increases the debt. Other activities contribute to the change in federal debt, such as changes in the Treasury’s operating cash account and federal student loans. The total debt for the U.S. through July 13, 2026 is $39.42 trillion.

At the end of 2025 the government had $37.64 trillion in federal debt. In 2025, the national debt increased by $2.17 trillion compared to 2024.

Notable recent events triggering large spikes in the debt include the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars, the 2008 Great Recession, and the COVID-19 pandemic. From FY 2019 to FY 2021, spending increased by about 50%, largely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Tax cuts, stimulus programs, increased government spending, and decreased tax revenue caused by widespread unemployment generally account for sharp rises in the national debt.

    https://fiscaldata.treasury.gov/americas-finance-guide/
    …………………………………….

Bernie Bros are clueless with regards to the debt.

But continuous rounds of tax cuts have gravely strained the debt. If a serious war or recession hit the country now, we might have trouble paying the costs. What’s more, interest on the debt is becoming a major expenditure in itself.

And one can see, from the article above, that we spent even more last year even ‘after’ all those DOGE cuts. Those DOGE cuts merely paid for part of Trump’s tax cuts.

Therefore those who think billionaires can’t be troubled to pay more in taxes are part of the problem.
