Roxane Gay is the Gloria Steinem Endowed Chair in Media, Culture, and Feminist Studies at Rutgers University–New Brunswick. She currently serves as the artist-in-residence at Harvard Medical School and called this week for the “liberation” of accused assassin Luigi Mangione. Gay (the cousin of former Harvard University President Claudine Gay) is the latest example of the radical chic of higher education.
Professor Gay was on a panel on “fat liberation” at Harvard Medical School. In a video posted to X, Gay responds to a question about the health industry by declaring “Free Luigi, for one.” She added that “The health insurance industry is equal opportunity evil. They are terrible for thin people, for fat people, for white people, for black people … They just want to prioritize profit over bodies and health.”
It appears that it is not evil to murder UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in December 2024, leaving a widow and children without a husband and father.
It is unclear what an artist-in-residence entails or why Harvard Medical School considers this a priority, given the other pressing health care issues. It is reminiscent of the bizarre “activists-in-residence” at UCLA medical school.
She is not only someone whom Harvard wants to educate their doctors, but Rutgers also gave her a prestigious academic chair.
Another panelist author Da’Shaun Harrison reportedly used the panel to explain to medical students how “Fascism, is the very foundation of the Western society, the very foundation of the U.S., through the transatlantic slave trade and through colonialism.” Harrison added that “body fascism” is part of that evil foundation for Western society.
Gay is hardly unique.
Radical faculty members on the left are common across the country and many espouse the same hate-filled and violent rhetoric.
Professors have regularly advocated “detonating white people,” denouncing police, calling for Republicans to suffer, strangling police officers, celebrating the death of conservatives, calling for the killing of Trump supporters, supporting the murder of conservative protesters, and making other outrageous statements. A San Diego University professor celebrated the death of an Israeli soldier who was eaten by a shark.
While you cannot be too radical on the left for many departments, even a moderate or center-right applicant will find it challenging to secure a teaching position today. An open conservative would be a nonstarter with many departments. Forty percent of faculty admit they would never vote for a Trump supporter, regardless of qualifications, publications, or accomplishments.
Instead, they hire and give chairs to extremists like Gay. Rutgers University, a public university, believes that a hate-spewing extremist is the ideal chair for its Media, Culture, and Feminist Studies department.
Likewise, Harvard Medical School, which charges roughly $122,000 for tuition and other costs, insists that Gay is an important part of its students’ education.
The scene perfectly embodies the state of higher education in America today.
Failure is something society often stigmatizes and shames people for. This points teaches that stumbling is not as scary as giving up after stumbling.
Modern society is full of invisible pressures that people dare not acknowledge. Freddy represents the fears buried deep within our minds that we try to ignore.
Giving this guy “social visibility” makes him a target in the joint.
Rush Limbaugh was spot on 40 years ago when he spoke of the growing power of Femi-nazis
Femi-Nazis? Whassa matta? Can’t get a date? Don’t worry. Enjoy yourself.
Academia is a dump.
Go suck eggs.. . Roxanne gay is a sociopath producing no visual art.
Anonymoose
I wonder what pronouns Roxanne goes by. Mine are NOR/MAL. Used to be HER/SHE, but I didn’t want to be confused with the candy bar.
Her/She….Winner ⬆️… 🏆
What department does she Chair. Says it all
There are no excuses for committing homicide.
There are no excuses for failing to judge.
People who commit non-self-defense homicide are insane to a greater or lesser degree.
The punishment for non-self-defense homicide must be death.
The judicial branch has the power to judge,
The judicial branch has the DUTY to judge.
The singular American failure is the judicial branch, with emphasis on the Supreme Court.

“The scene perfectly embodies the state of higher education in America today.” (JT)
On posts like this, the get Turley gang always smears him with: He’s focusing on the “fringe” and is being hyperbolic.
First, how do you ignore all of the other examples JT gave in this post, and in other similar ones?
More importantly, Gay is *not* fringe. She holds an endowed chair at Rutgers with an appointment in the Women’s Studies department. Endowed chairs aren’t given to the fringe. Rutgers is not fringe. (Neither is Harvard.) Women’s Studies departments and programs are all over academia.
That fringe smear is an obvious deflection from the only question that matters:
Why did Rutgers hire (and Harvard give a forum to) a rabidly anti-intellectual, anti-West, race-baiting hack who rationalizes murder?
Sam, it’s not a smear. It’s a perfectly valid rationalization and criticism. Turley does intentionally mischaracterize facts and omits them to paint a false narrative.
“Why did Rutgers hire (and Harvard give a forum to) a rabidly anti-intellectual, anti-West, race-baiting hack who rationalizes murder?”
Because…free speech. We have a felon for a president. Yet, we don’t see anything wrong with that either. Right?
one of your dumber replies, X.
It is your opinion that Turley “mischaracterizes,” but you are here everyday to read him. Why? Do you think you have credibility here.”
I must laugh.
You accuse Turley of naivety, hypocrisy, and mischaracterization.
I accuse you of outright lies. Commenter S. Meyer just reminded us of some of your more blatant ones.
It’s pretty obvious the professor does engage in deliberate mischaracterization to wrangle some ‘hits’ on the blog.
Otherwise it would just be really boring legal articles that most here wouldn’t understand.
What is still funny is you don’t offer anything of substance. You just hang around to berate and insult other commenters for sport.
S. Meyer doesn’t know what he’s talking about half the time. Like I always say….Turley is fair game. For criticism, mockery, rebuttals, and plain old fashioned opinions about his dishonesty or disingenuousness.
The anonymous writer above got you, GSX. You are a liar and a proven one who runs away.
“S. Meyer doesn’t know what he’s talking about half the time.”
Why don’t you quote my words that you find erroneous? Are you referring to your posts on Iran that I responded to, such as this dumb one, “Iran never wanted a nuclear weapon” that you said came from the IC. Where did my response go wrong? Tell us, liar.
Again, I thank the above anonymous for his comment. More people should skip trying to teach a moron and tell him what he is: a liar.
Thank you. GSX is almost always lying. He made many other errors. Another went something like this, Iran had something something far better” than a nuclear weapon, Hormuz. I wonder if GSX even knows ships are moving across the Hormuz Straits while he lied. In that set of comments he had many lies and I picked out the most blatent. GSX is a liar. He doesn’t know how to read AI.
Again I thank you and will repeat that lie here.
GSX still hasn’t replied to the lie he made the other day. He told me to produce the lie, and then posted, “Still waiting, S. Meyer, letting you know I have not run away.” But he wasn’t waiting. I quoted his lie in my response. Since then, GSX has failed to reply, so I will take this opportunity to place that response in his earliest reply. today.
“what it is that is a lie.”
GSX writes: “The claim that “Iran never wanted a nuclear weapon” is not media nonsense—it is the consensus of the United States Intelligence Community. The specific information originates from the U.S. Annual Threat”
“Iran never wanted a nuclear weapon” is an outright lie you attribute to the United States Intelligence Community. That is a lie, and it is just one of a vast number. Run away again, GSX.

Justice (and Justices’ Investments) Should Be Blind: The Alito Controversy Raises Persistent Problem on the Court
“GSX has failed to reply” says Meyer.
So, here Meyer lets slip that I am completely correct in my previous observations that he believes that failure to respond to his comments is evidence that he has won the argument, and that his opponent has “run away” because he realizes that he is wrong, and therefore that Meyer is correct.
The reality is that when Meyer knows he is wrong he simply resorts to childish personal insults and then tries to steer the argument to some irrelevant side issue or picayune point that is of no relevance to the central argument at hand. He tries to get his opponent to start arguing about some other issue, or tries to twist his own original argument that is proven to be wrong in such a way that it means something entirely different than its plain meaning.
His opponent soon tires of his childish insults, and his nonsensical post facto twisting of his own words as if they mean something else, and simply refuses to further engage in his pathetically stupid and inane word games. When this happens, Meyer declares victory, simply because his opponent refuses to participate in his madness by refusing to respond.
It rapidly reaches the point where trying to argue with Meyer’s insanity simply reinforces his aberrant behavior and further degrades his already astoundingly high level of mental illness.
In fact, it could reasonably be said that refusal to participate in Meyer’s insanity by prolonging an argument is actually doing him a favor, in that it would tend to minimize his rapidly declining mental health.
X, you never skip a beat in replying when someone puts you in your place. Your response above fools no one.
LOL! That was not me. That Anonynous got it right though.
Sigmund the Fraud is standing up for GSX, another liar. He Stupidly says GSX won the argument. We now have definitive proof that Sigmund the Fraud doesn’t know what he is talking about. He believes the IC said, “Iran never wanted a nuclear weapon, ” which is totally untrue. Sigmund is a cereal liar. Froot Loops. He cowardly hides himself behind each color and lies like Kellogg’s; there is no fruit in Froot Loops.
Final grade: Lying Lowlife, Intellectual Pygmy, and Cowardly Contemptible.
No S. Meyer. YOU proved that anonymous correct. You did exactly what he/she predicted. The saddest part is you didn’t realize it.
No, GSX I proved you ran away after proclaiming: “Still waiting, S. Meyer, letting you know I have not run away.” But you did run away despite my reminder, and that was just one lie in that thread of posts; there were many.
You impetuously demanded: “what it is that is a lie.” I quoted your statement: “The claim that “Iran never wanted a nuclear weapon” is not media nonsense—it is the consensus of the United States Intelligence Community. The specific information originates from the U.S. Annual Threat”
The IC never said such a thing. Then you ran away like you always did. I was being good because I didn’t post all of your many lies in that thread, though above I pointed out another lie you made.
It went something like this: Iran had something far better than “a nuclear weapon”: Hormuz.

Justice (and Justices’ Investments) Should Be Blind: The Alito Controversy Raises Persistent Problem on the Court
ABSOLUTELY. UNBELIEVABLE !!!!!!
You are persisting in this insanity!!!
Your obsessive-compulsive impairment compels you to repeat this bizarre accusation. You are desperate to prove your point, but in your desperation you simply confirm and highlight your profound mental impairment for all to see. The more you persist in this insanity, the more obvious it becomes that you are completely and utterly irrational.
You are not doing yourself any favors with this behavior. The more you persist, the more obvious it becomes that you are profoundly impaired.
and the more we know who you are
oh, now X is going to copycat the “he/she” noun alternative
Meyer is as predictable as the sun rising in the east.
True to form, he responds with childish insults.
Unfortunately the obsessive-compulsive component of his richly diverse mental health issues compels him to respond, even when he has nothing cogent or relevant to say. In his deeply disturbed mind, failure to respond is defeat. He believes that an argument is won when he has the last word, even if that last word takes the form of these pathetic insults.
Sigmund the Fraud, you complained before about these exact points, which were wrong then and are wrong now. There is nothing to say to such a Fraud and anonymous coward.
Final grade: Lying Lowlife, Intellectual Pygmy, and Cowardly Contemptible.
Just as I said – as predictable as the sun rising in the east!
You are unable to control your obsessive compulsion to respond, even when have nothing to say of importance or relevance.
You say that, “There is nothing to say to such a Fraud”, and yet you have something to say !!!!!!
Do you not understand the insanity of that completely self-contradictory statement??
That is obviously a rhetorical question, since your profound mental illness prevents you from understanding your own actions.
I look forward to the response that you will be compelled to make, and in which you will, in your own words, have nothing to say.
👍
It’s what they do.
Karl Marx himself would have considered Roxane Gay and her ilk to be among those “mere brawlers” who have “sneaked into the reputation of revolutionists” of the highest quality and achievement to be but an “unavoidable evil” that is “shaken off” only with time.
Or as Lenin more bluntly put it, the “useful idiots” who are always the first to face the guillotine or the firing squad after the revolution.
Prof Turley seems to like to speak in clichés. “Radical chic”? And he chooses one death while ignoring all the death being dealt by the Trump administration. He doesn’t bother making an actual argument, either because he is in decline or he doesn’t think his audience would understand it.
Death being dealt by the Trump administration?? Name any!! ANON is in decline!!
As usual, statements by Anonymous with no examples to back it up. We are always amazed at how many things she makes up in the space between her ears. The lights are on but no one’s home. Her mind is not her own. Earth to Anon, we know propaganda when we see it. Anon once said that she should brush up on her Russian. Only a few shots of the best Russian vodka will do before she bestows her wisdom for all of us to admire. You shuur shed lissen tooo meee when I tellsh you haw it ish. Lishuun uuup.
We can say the same thing about John Say and a few others here. Nobody is immune.
The excusers of the leftist rant are in full force on this forum today. Earlier X, a well known no it all in attendance, questioned whether Roxanne Gay really ment what she said when she plainly called for the release of a man who shot another man in the back of the head. Did she really mean that the pool of blood and brain mater on the concrete was justified? If this be the case, then it only makes sense that anyone who even works for a health insurance company should be paraded before a firing squad. The janitors who work for a health insurance company should be considered explicit and dealt with by an insertion of a .45 caliber slug to the back of the neck. And yet, somehow X doesn’t believe that she really believes what she says. It’s like saying that X doesn’t really mean what he says. I for one believe that X does really mean what he says and that he is in full throated agreement in calling for the freedom of the killer while calling for the elimination of the second amendment for you but not the assassin. The best comparison that I can think of to what X says is the deification of John Wilkes Booth by the southern slave owners for the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. So it goes with X.
Thinkitthrough, as it is always the case with you, you don’t really think things through.
Expressing skepticism about one’s motives and the fact professor Turley is indeed insinuating a LOT of things without evidence makes it perfectly fine to infer Gay is not as serious as Turley claims.
Turley has absolutely no proof she teaches medical students the actions of Luigi Mangione are perfectly acceptable.
Turley is banking on your ignorance to jump to conclusions and rage on the left. Apparently it’s working.
Your lack of cognitive depth forces you to resort to the same old comebacks, “you don’t think things through,” or “you lack reading comprehension,” or “you don’t understand.”
X did not graduate from higher education but he took one course, “Projection and Copy-catting 101.”
ROFL!! Sure man. Sure.
Poor X. He doesn’t COMPREHEND that either premise is true. If the comment is correct that he has no higher education, this explains his pomposity (watch, X will start using this word in the next few weeks!) and supercilious nature. ‘If he DOES possess higher education, his ridiculous comments here belie his comprehension and understanding of it because he relies on lies, exaggerations, slanted and often incorrect conclusions, and REWRITING his AI extracts, the substance of which he must rely on “rewrite” from the same Internet access. It really is funny.
HILARIOUS, as X would say.
Careful, your narcissism is showing.
rather I be narcissistic than a fake, phony, pretentious, plagiaristic, nobody.
#. Gay speaks the reason for the death penalty. Is Mangione charged State or Federal and a president or governor or both can grant a full pardon releasing Mangione back into the population. A death penalty also functions as a deterrent.
Gay is detonating conservatives. The stuff tabloid is made of.
It’s beginning to look like the greatest threat to American survival is “liberal” white women. Certainly where children are concerned.
