“You are White-Presenting”: Texas Judge Ordered to Undergo Psychiatric Testing After Bar Complaint

Judge Ada Brown of the Northern District of Texas has been suspended pending psychiatric testing and the resolution of a bar complaint after a bizarre hearing in April 2026. In the hearing, Brown, a Trump appointee, went on a racial diatribe against a lawyer, Ezra Young, over his race. Young was accused of being White. When Young informed her that he is Hispanic, Judge Brown went on to say that he is “white-presenting” in continuing her racial browbeating.

Judge Brown was also accused of abandoning her work, but the hearing has caused the most chatter among lawyers.

Young filed a complaint against Brown following the hearing in Dallas. In the hearing, Brown, a Black woman with Native American ancestry, accused Young of mistreating Black attorneys. She barred Young from practicing in her courtroom after an unhinged tongue-lashing.

It appears Young, a Columbia Law School graduate and solo practitioner, has had previous run-ins with Judge Brown.  At the hearing, Brown accused Young of “racial bullying” toward Black attorneys in the case.

Judge Brown apparently had an axe to grind over an article that appeared in an earlier case involving a black professor. Brown referenced an article that quoted a brief filed by Young that referenced another law professor apparently comparing what happened in the tenure denial to a “lynching.”

She accused Young of making up the quote to “get a headline”: “And so when I read a headline — a sensationalized, very racialized headline that says, ‘it’s like I’ve been lynched,’ and it’s literally got no connection to this case, I have to ask you, Mr. Social Media, Main Character Chad, White Hero, Savior, Loves to Help Black People Be An Ally, where the lynching in this case came from?”

According to the transcript, she observed, “I think what’s happening here, quite candidly, is you are very intimidated for some reason, Mr. Young, with Black excellence, in light of your White mediocrity. Yeah. Right?… You should write that down. I mean, you — I’m — you look like a White man, right?”

Young tried to stop the unfolding disaster: “I’m not White, Your Honor.”

Judge Brown snapped back, “Well, you are White-presenting; is that fair to say?” She added that he is “fair-skinned” and evidenced “White privilege”:  “You’re the White savior, come to save all the stupid Black lawyers in Texas who need your help, from New York.”

Judge Brown is reportedly suffering from a “mental condition that interferes with her ability to perform the responsibilities of her office.”

It is likely the sad end to a distinguished career.  Brown graduated magna cum laude from Spelman College in 1996, then earned a law degree from Emory University School of Law in 1999 and later a Master of Laws from Duke University School of Law.

  1. Well, not only a psychiatric test, but maybe a whole physical, check of family history for mental illness (dementia, Alzheimer etc.) might be in order.

  2. What the judge said is signature significant and shouldn’t be ignored.

It’s really clear to me that the Judge is an anti-white racist, she should be permanently removed from the bench, should be prevented from ever practicing law again, and every case that she presided over as judge should be thoroughly reviewed for evidence of racial bias.

  3. The sad judge’s “mental condition” is years of poisoning by extreme woke race ideology.

  4. Americans are “up to here” with the race crap!!! For God’s sake, people! Grow up & behave like adults! Who the hell cares what color your skin is or what your “racial” identity is or anything else! All we should really care about is that people are behaving like AMERICANS–obeying laws, watching out for our neighbors, & yes, worshipping the One, True God! For those of us who grew up in the 60’s & 70’s & 80’s, life really wasn’t complicated & we had friends of every race, color, creed, etc. because we looked at people for whom they ARE, not for the color of their skin or their ethnic group! GROW UP!

  5. Strange that Turley doesn’t delve into the career of Ezra Young, the complaining attorney.

He is from New York, not Texas. He has served as a visiting assistant professor at Cornell, and as we all know the faculty at Cornell are all raging leftist extremists.

At Cornell he teaches Constitutional law. He teaches courses on transgender health rights, which he has championed in his private practice, winning several landmark court decisions. He also teaches Critical Race Theory at Cornell.

Obviously he is an extreme leftist out to discredit a Trump appointed judge.

  6. As usual, I wish I could say I were surprised. Take heed, though – all of the insanity we see with younger generations these days – at least some of those currently in law school, some will become judges. Do you want them judging you? And are you convinced yet that many degrees are indicative of nothing whatsoever at this point? If the midterms go south, this will simply be our daily reality, possibly forever, and once everything is federalized/globalized, the particular state one lives in will mean precisely jack sheet.

    1. “all of the insanity we see with younger generations these days..” Have you at least read the comments here?

      1. @Moronymous

You don’t seem to understand that you will have to live in that created world too, if it comes to pass. AOC will not buy you designer clothes. Doctors will not work for free. People that own property will not peacefully simply relinquish it. You have no idea, because you are stupid and privileged, what you are actually asking for, and you do not appear to have the stalwartness to even continue stability, let alone create it. You are absurd. We all think so. Go blow.

  7. The Judicial Branch is the problem! The failure of the House Judicial Committee to address these Judges in impeachment hearings has led to a out of control Judiciary.

  8. Another so called idiot with impeccable academic credentials. When will people start to realize that some people acquire these credentials without showing one iota of being intelligent. Kamal Harris anyone. Obama, supposedly the smartest man in the room, was the president of the Harvard Law Review and yet we have never seen an item written by this great legal mind. His wife was given a job making over $300,000 a year and when she left they never even replaced her.

Kantanji Jackson Brown? Joy Reid? These are IVY SCHOOL graduates and they are morons.

    1. Brown graduated magna cum laude from Spelman College in 1996, then earned a law degree from Emory University School of Law in 1999 and later a Master of Laws from Duke University School of Law.

And what are impeccable academic credentials? Degree in racism or is it alcoholism?

    1. Ouchie… Good thing Young didn’t bring such similarities up at hearing, or full nuclear blast off have gone down 🙀🙀🙀

  9. Sad that a Trump appointment went south. She probably suffers from some mental-health disability, and I wish her well, but the bench is not the place for her anymore. We should leave bizarre outbursts to the pros, like George the troll and his multiple-personality disorder.

  10. You know, oddly enough, this story gives me some peace of mind.

How often do we read one of Turley’s stories about outrageous conduct by someone in authority, only to find ourselves wondering why in the hell that person is still in office? Then we spend the next hundred comments arguing about why nobody is doing anything.

But here, somebody actually did something. The judge has been taken off her cases, an evaluation has been ordered, and the matter is being investigated.

We don’t know how it will ultimately turn out, and she’s entitled to due process.

But isn’t this what we expect from a functioning system? Identify the problem, take appropriate action, investigate, and reach a determination.

For once, I’m more interested in the fact that the accountability process is working than in the outrageous behavior that triggered it.

    1. Don’t read anything into it. I suspect she has a history; the authorities had no choice. And most importantly – it’s TEXAS. They don’t fart around.

      1. 😁 You tell me not to read anything into it, then immediately speculate that she has a history, the authorities had no choice, and Texas doesn’t fart around.

So apparently reading something into it is fine, provided it’s you doing the reading.

        That’s pretty funny.

        1. Olly

Very funny indeed! It’s as funny as someone who said yesterday that he “independently evaluates” news stories “without questioning the source because of its name”, but then turns around and “looks at the denials, question the credibility of the sources.”

Pots and kettles, pots and kettles!!!

          Complete lack of self-awareness!!

          Completely self-contradictory!!

          What an idiot !!

        2. Emoji huh? Sure sign we’re dealing with a child; the response proves its. Take the day off senile old fart, go feed the pigeons.

          1. Apparently he did an “independent evaluation” of the facts.

I hear he is very good at that, so we must take him at his word.

      1. Anonymous,

There are a number of possible explanations for the judge’s behavior. Bad hair day. Stupidity. Racism. Anti-White Supremacist. Burnt toast in the morning. I simply wonder why the Texas Bar chose mental illness first. Isn’t it possible that there’s simply no good explanation for hatred?

  11. Obviously this woman has major intellectual deficiencies and emotional issues, and should never have been made a judge. Unfortunately, the judiciary is riddled with judges and justices who match that description, and ridding Texas of her bench bologna would only constitute a very, very tiny crumb removed from a huge manure pile, assuming that the system is capable of taking even that negligible step.

    1. Did you read the article, she’s has a fine resume, unlike the commenters here. She stepped over the line. She has to go.

  12. I don’t think a psychiatric exam and evaluation is going to solve her problem. Psychiatrists are physicians, not gods or magicians.

    GEB

    1. “I don’t think a psychiatric exam and evaluation is going to solve her problem.”

It’s not to solve THEIR problem. It’s to mitigate potential problems caused by them. Consider it a voir dire of sorts. A culling out.

  13. I am paraphrasing Agatha Christie’s famous detective Hercule Poirot, who warns his adversary in Death on the Nile, “Don’t let hate into your heart, or it will make a home there.” Poor Judge Ada Brown has done exactly that, devolving to the point where she is now suspended for cause. Her condition reveals that, for some, “whiteness” has come to signify the actual tone of your skin rather than your race. Also, her previous encounters with this guy should have been a caution sign, not a license to attack.

The race problem in America is still in full bloom. No light at the end of this tunnel.

    1. It’s not a race problem, it’s unchecked, uncontrollable female hormones running rampant in court rooms, judges as well as juries. Society is worse off for that.

  14. Bah haha – just goes to show the Nose Pinching that goes on when judges are selected by politicians on both sides. Most don’t recognize when they have a PIG IN THE POKE like this little Missy Illuminati! What an idiot for a judge.

      1. “. That’s not an idiot on the bench.”

Consider it a figure of speech. Try hard!! Strain yourself!! Resume notwithstanding, the contributor deems her an ‘idiot’. She wouldn’t be the first of that lot to qualify. You, yourself, might wear such an escutcheon. It’s highly suspect on a daily basis.

  15. Considering the wackjobs in black robes that are surfacing these ‘daze’, psychological screening or personality profiling should become a universal requirement for appointment to the bench.

    1. But she’s a Trump appointee. Don’t apply your obvious ignorance and stupidity to all situations.

    2. “psychological screening or personality profiling should become a universal requirement for appointment to the bench”

How much confidence do you have that such a requirement could (would) not be surreptitiously twisted to suit a particular political end, leaving us without a real solution, and one more layer of bureaucracy? I have none.

      1. “How much confidence do you have…”

Confidence or lack thereof notwithstanding, it might be an interesting dissertation topic for a doctorate in psychopathology.

    1. “Brown, a Black woman with Native American ancestry,… another untouchable?’

Imagine if she were Jewish as well. These ‘daze’, that would nullify your conclusion, wouldn’t it. She’d be fair game for some.

        1. “Hypotheticals are an obvious sign of an unmitigated stupidity.”

Such hypotheticals are, sadly, intended to be a blunt commentary on the realities of attitudes in times we are forced to live in. She’d have four black balls instead of three strikes against her.

        2. “But she’s not Jewish….”

Your mission, and you’ve chosen to accept it, is to get your rocks off roundly criticizing the daily contributions of the following here. We wish that for just one time you could stand inside our shoes, and just for that one moment we could be you. You’d know what a drag it is to read you.
