Sarah Palin’s soon-to-be in-law, Sherry Johnston, has been arrested on drug charges in Wasilla, Alaska after what is described as a long investigation. Her son, Levi Johnston, is having a baby with Bristol Palin and their impromptu marriage became an issue during the campaign. Politically, this will certainly take minds of the teenage pregnancy.
Johnston is facing six felony counts of misconduct involving a controlled substance, but the police have refused to identify the drug involved. The counts are second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance — generally manufacturing or delivering drugs — as well as fourth-degree misconduct involving controlled substances, or possession. However, the Anchorage Daily News is reporting that police sources have told it that the arrests “are in relation to the drug oxycontin.”
If true, this sounds more than a Russ Limbaugh addiction. The arrest seems to come right out of the SNL live parody when Sarah Palin (Tina Fey) refers to Wasilla proudly as the “meth capitol of Alaska.” It turns out to be true. The Matanuska-Susitna area is viewed by police as the center the methamphetamine production in Alaska, In 2003, authorities uncovered nine meth labs in the area. Last year, the number increased to 42.

You are right. Being “connected” to the Palins could cause anyone to seek help in anyway possible. I wonder if Palin runs again if her opponent can claim that she hangs around with drug dealers? And since Wasilla is considered the Meth capital of Alaska, what role did Palin play in making it the capital and/or not cracking(no pun intended…ok, maybe I did intend it)down on the drug dealers and makers?
