Judge Drives Drunk, Hits Police Cruiser in Construction Zone, and Makes Racist Remarks to Police Officer — Will Attend a Class and Get a Clean Record

43778398-08082454Judge E. Curtissa Cofield, 60, has been sentenced in Manchester, Connecticut for her bizarre conduct on October 9th. Cofield was drunk when she went swerving through a construction zone before sideswiping a patrol car — injuring the officer, according to his lawyer. She then unleashed a torrent of racist remarks against another officer. It took Judge William Bright Jr. sentences Cofield to taking a simple alcohol education program. Her record will then be cleaned after a year.

Bright insisted that Cofield racist remarks have no bearing on the sentence. He insisted that “anything that happened after the DUI is not relevant to the A.E.P application.” Among other remarks, Cofield used the n-word, called a black state police sergeant a “Negro Washington.”

While Bright is correct that the remarks are separate from the driving violation, this sentence is pretty light for someone who drove drunk, hit a car, and allegedly injured an officer. (The original report said that there were no injuries, but the officers’ lawyer claims that he was slightly injured).

Cofield continues to sit as a judge in Hartford.

Is it just me or does the one word summation of this case read “bullshit”? I do not care if she’s a judge anymore than I care the Chimp is President: a criminal is a criminal and should be treated as such.

This judge should be disciplined by removing her from the bench. She is not competent to sit when she abuses the very system she is supposed to protect.

Judge Cofield received the customarily biased low sentencing prevalent for public servants.

    FFLEO,

It used to be customary for the King to take the Right of Primogeniture too. Custom does not make right.
