Florida Man Arrested For Tasering His Mother — While Awaiting Charges for Threatening Her With A Sword

matthew+beiderMatthew Beider, 23, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, is not exactly the ideal son. Only last month, he was arrested after threatening his mother with a three-foot sword. Now, he has been re-arrested after tasering his mother and then stomping on her as she lay on the floor after being shocked.

Beider allegedly wrestled away the taser from his 56-year-old mother and used it on her as part of the attack. He is facing aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, witness tampering, obstruction of justice and aggravated battery/domestic violence with priors. 20090606-191351-pic-355271098_t220.

I do not wish to denigrate an entire town, but it does seem that we get a steady stream of these cases from St. Lucie, which acts as a type of perpetual energy machine for legal blog stories, here and here and here.

Here is another person that I am sure suffers from anger and it was probably minimized by his mom and now that it has gotten out of hand the authorities are called in. Now the conduct will be punished not the rearing of the child. Prisons are full of stupid mistakes.

Florida seems to be trying to join Texas in the contest for the stupidest state in the Union. This punk needs to be shown the inside of a cell until he is about 30 or 35 years old. This is an atrocious attack by someone who also needs psychiatric assistance. When are we, as a country, going to put some serious restrictions on these tasers? Whether in the hands of police officers or private citizens, they are a dangerous and deadly weapon.

    rafflaw,

As a Texan and not wanting to leave out any state of representative capacity. Lest we forget Alaska? Georgia? Not that Texas does not have it fair share of idiots, opps, one just returned back from Washington. Has anyone heard or seen the other Cheney?

I do think that bad parenting is still bad parenting.

Port St Lucie pretty much denigrates itself. . .

Will he claim the assault on his mother was the result of being tazed and confused?

The fact that his mother tazed him first may play well for him in court.

As therapy, Matthew should be required to watch for days on end the Key West Hog’s Breath Saloon live streaming web cam so he will have some friends.

    23 still at home…something’s wrong!

A face only a mother could … oh, well, perhaps not.

This was posted on the Newspaper website. I just am amazed that he was not detained after the second offense against her. I also question Florida’s Domestic Violence Statue. But who am I to say.

I personally know both Matthew and his mother. His mother is psycho and addicted to Blues. Maybe they should have reported both sides of the story because
    *********************************************
Because it’s no excuse to beat your own mother?
If she’s a psycho, then get away from her.
    This isn’t that hard.
She isn’t the one beating him, he’s beating her.
He should not be living in HER home.
Somehow, I don’t see your defense going well in court.
“So, you tased your own mother, and then kicked her repeatedly because she’s a psycho?”
In the civilized world, we don’t get to threaten people with swords, taze them, or kick them just because they get on our nerves.

“His mother is psycho and addicted to Blues.”

That explains it. These middle-aged women and their crazy music.
We all know that blues addiction eventually leads to things like jazz standards.

As my father would say – “There outta be a law”

    Now JB,

No one genre is better or worse than the other except for maybe [rap] closed captioning needed.

    AY,

I hope you recognize that I was being facetious.

What are “Blues” & where can I score some? Any substance linked to behavior so utterly beyond redemption must be good.

Who had the taser first? Mommy. No one thinks in the alternative here. Total self-defense claim. I think I’ll start a support group for this nice boy.

Also of note, Florida is not just some strip-mall full of low-grade morons. Just look at the 2000 election. Thank you.

    JB,

    And I too.

The Blues must be especially disturbing to drunken teenagers. Especially teenagers who have a history of violence. And teenagers that take such wonderful mug shots!

I don’t know if you know this JT, but fibromyalgia is often comorbid with bipolar AKA manic-depressive disorder, which is hereditary. I would argue that the mother is disturbed as well as the son, and he should be evaluated for mental disease and hospitalized rather than imprisoned.
