Dork Hunters: English Police Use Anti-Terror Laws To Detain Film Crew of Children’s Program

The hosts and film crew from ITV show Toonattik were shooting a scene for “Dork Hunters” when they were detained by police in London under the Terrorism Act. They were wearing utility belts with “spangly” hairdryers and hairbrushes and flak jackets.

We have been following with growing concern as our English cousins have been arresting people for such acts as filming Fish and Chips shacks, here.
One of the hosts seemed to suggest that the Dork Hunters were successful in their quest. He described the scene:”We were stopped, not arrested, but they had to say ‘we are holding you under the Anti-Terrorism Act because you’re running around in flak jackets and a utility belt’, and I said ‘and please put spangly blue hairdryer’ and he was, like, ‘all right’.” They were not ultimately arrested.

He is lucky that they did not find their van and blow it up, here.

  1. Ironically, this Art. 44 stop actually has some merit give the flake jackets, as opposed to just about every other Art. 44 stop that’s been reported on.

  2. The cops may be off their rockers, but the Brits are still the funniest gits in town:

  3. And another taxpayer gets effed in the A.

Can you say “misappropriation of public funds”?

Just fire the entire UK police force already, they’re just not helping…

  4. Surely those police proved themselves to be real dorks. The dork hunters should have responded by arresting them.

  5. One of the comments to thee linked article caught my eye. The poster appears to have the insight and humor to make him a good addition to the Turley blawg:

“Sounds like their Dork hunting trip was a bit too much of a success.”

  6. How deliciously ironic that the English are using ‘1984’ as their security manual. I can’t wait until someone is arrested for creating a video at the grave of George Orwell in Oxfordshire.

  7. Give the citizen Taser and the people will be well armed against the deeds of the Government.

If you think like most religions, the Government is becoming the Religion. There is only one way and thats our way….
