Jason Atkins, creator of ToughSportLive, has gone to court to seek to strike down a 1999 law banning the creation, possession or transmission of materials depicting animal cruelty. Atkins wants to clear the way for cok fighting videos from Mexico to be sold in the United States. It is an interesting lawsuit, alleging that the law was not meant to (and cannot legally) bar cock fighting. If the court gets to the merits, there may be considerable debate over what constitutes a valid sport and when the majority can dictate the definition of cruelty in recreation.
