Talk about proving a negative. Former House Republican Leader Tom DeLay has said that “Absolutely, no doubt about it” .. . Sen. Barack Obama is a Marxist. In a sign of fairness, DeLay stressed: “hey, I have said publicly, and I will again, that unless he proves me wrong, he is a Marxist.” Of course, this is much like demanding that DeLay prove he is not a money launderer — the burden is usually on the accuser.
Much like proving that he is not a Muslim, there may not be much that Obama can do. After a lifetime in the Christian church and baptisms of his family was not sufficient to prove the negative that he is not a Muslim. After all, he could be secretly praying toward Mecca.
Like all Americans, I was alarmed by DeLay’s disclosure. It all makes sense when one considers Obama’s campaign of “change.” It clearly comes from Marx’s statement in Thesis 11: “the philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways. The point, however, is to change it.”
Then again, Obama seems pretty darned capitalist in many of his policies, including the use of a market based health insurance system. But, the burden appears to rest with him unless he wants to run as the first Muslim Marxist nominee for the presidency.
He could start by supporting the energy and tax legislation of the Administration that Delay supported, click here. Wait, that includes massive subsidies for corporations — clearly a form of Marxist ideology.
I got it. He could oppose farm subsidies — an obvious Marxist approach to crop production over market systems. Oh, hold it, DeLay supported legislation filled with farm subsidies, click here.
Perhaps he could issue a statement like “liberalism rejects ideological struggle and stands for unprincipled peace, thus giving rise to a decadent, philistine attitude and bringing about political degeneration.”
Oh, wait, that was Chairman Mao (“Combat Liberalism” (September 7, 1937), Selected Works, Vol. II, p. 31.).
Perhaps he could deny reading Das Kapital: “From the moment I picked up [that] book until I laid it down, I was convulsed with laughter. Some day I intend reading it.” Opps, that was Groucho Marx.
Hold on a second, DeLay has (1) supported government subsidies for energy company; (2) subsidies for farm production; (3) massive increases in government under Bush; and (4) campaigned against “liberals” trying to force an “unprincipled peace” in Iraq. Could it be that Sugarland, Texas is a hotbed of Marxists?
This is precisely what Ron Paul has been trying to warn us all about.

My God! Just read my entry and realized that my spelling, content and syntax had fallen to their level. My petard is sharp and hurts.
Country Bumbkin, Nancy & Niblet,
Is it 10 cents or 50 cents per E Mail that you get for trolling intelligent websites. My guess is that it’s 10 cents because the intelligence level of your comments is such that you must be dealing in quantity rather than craftsmanship. My further surmise is that you would lack the ability to troll for the higher pay, since that would
require to deal in content that would call for debate, rather than the ridicule you allow to be heaped upon yourselves due to the silliness of your content.

I see McCain more as Mr. Green Jeans from Captain Kangaroo.
Detriot Sam:
I agree with everything you said about Nancy except where she can stick her head on election day.
Nancy: Your comments demonstrate your intellect. It is not about you, it is about the country.
A concept you appear unable to grasp.
You can stay home on election day, vote for McSame, or stick your head in the sand. The world will continue on.
From Nancy:
Obama and his America hating wife can go to hell as far as us feminists are concerned.
1) Michelle Obama, a feminist, never said she hate America and to perpetuate that lie only helps John McBush.
2) Barack Obama is the Dem’s nominee because he won more delegates not because of the media. Remember that feminism rejects victimhood.
3) If, as you say, you’re a feminist and thereby one assumes Pro-Choice, you might consider that the next President will likely name 2-4 Supreme Court justices and McBush has already promised the religious right he’ll appont conservative judges to help overturn Roe v Wade.
This is an historic election cycle that comes at a critical junction in American history. The impact of this election couldn’t be more important to this republic and it’s place in the world and world history. Please choose wisely.
Mespo,
I like the Cracked corn reference! Would McCain be the Jolly Green Giant?
Bob:
Hey, I have said publicly, and I will again, that unless DeLay proves me wrong, he is a fool.
“hey, I have said publicly, and I will again, that unless he proves me wrong, he is a Marxist.”
Denying The Antecedent, Affirming The Consequent
Thus the reason for the maxim “the burden is on he who affirms; not he who denies.”
