Dis-Grace: CNN’s Nancy Grace Loses Critical Motion in Court

It appears that CNN’s Nancy Grace will have to answer for her conduct on her program. CNN and Grace have been sued for the wrongful death of Melinda Duckett, who committed suicide after Grace attacked her on the program — suggesting that she was responsible for her own child’s disappearance. Many in the bar are delighted by the lawsuit against Grace who was repeatedly charged with abuses as a prosecutor and has degraded the profession with her snarling sensationalistic program.

U.S. District Judge William Terrell Hodges rejected a motion to dismiss the lawsuit this week. Grace attacked Duckett, 21, on a show about the disappearance of her Trenton in August 2006. Grace grilled the woman about not taking a lie detector test and being vague about her whereabouts. Duckett went out and killed herself.

Grace proceeded to proclaim that guilt probably made her do it, not Grace’s virtual guilty conviction levied on national television, click here.

Grace was a disgrace as a prosecutor and, before being given her own show, was repeatedly sanctioned or reprimanded by courts for her abuses in court, click here.

Talk shows are increasingly, and legitimately, cited for negligent conduct, click here. The lawsuit against Grace remains a long shot given causation and foreseeability issues as well as obvious plaintiff’s conduct issues. What is astonishing is that CNN and Courttv continue to air this type of vicious, vigilante entertainment.

BUT….to actually believe that a woman committed suicide because of a little insignificant hillbilly such as Nancy Grace is ludicrous. Like a previous post said…suicide-that is not a normal response to questioning. Of course we ask “Who defines Normal?”. Well then let’s not say “normal”, instead let’s say WHY? No mother would be pressured to take her own life just because she was grilled by a well known and established fool. An “innocent” mother who still had all reason to believe her child was alive somewhere would NEVER and I mean NEVER give up. So although Nancy deserves much disdain in general, this accusation is ridiculous. Come on people! You have to learn to pick your fights carefully and this one is extremely irresponsible!

PEOPLE, WHO BELIEVE IN A CAUSE, DO EXACTLY THAT AND BELIEVE IN THEM AND WILL FIGHT UNTIL THE END. OH, FOR THE INDIVIDUAL WHO STATED NG HADN’T EXPERIENCED ANY LOSS. I THINK IF YOU WILL CHECK, HER FIANCEE’ FOR MANY YEARS. WAS MURDERED, FOR NO REASON, JUST ONE OF THOSE DEALS THAT WE WOULDN’T WANT TO GET TO HARD ON SOMEONE FOR! BEING ON THE RECEIVING END, BRINGS A TOTAL REVELATIONS INTO FOCUS, ONE BEING HOW WILL WE EVER FIND OUR CHILD’S REMAINS, ETC. ANYONE WHO THINKS THAT THE HALEIGH CUMMINGS FAMILY, AND THE CASEY ANTHONY IS A NORMAL FAMILY, EVIDENTALLY HASN’T EVER BEEN AROUND A NORMAL ONE! IF YOU THINK THAT ALL OF THIS EVIDENCE, PICTURES, STATEMENTS, ARE BADM RENENBER THAT YOU ARE ONLY SEEING WHAT THEY WANT YOU TO SEE; HOW, DO YOU THINK THEY ACT AND THE THINGS THEY DO WHEN NO ON AROUND TO PUT A CHOKE CHAIN ON.     IF YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT REAL INJUSTICE, FINALLY CORRECTED; TALK ABOUT THE MOTHER CLOSE TO HOUSTON, TX. WHO HAD TRUE POSTPAFTUM DEPRESSION, WAS SUFFERING PARANOIA, AND THE EXTENT THAT SHE WENT TO IN HER OWN MIND, TO SAVE HER CHILDREN. I see just how uninformed you are about the role of some media-heads, but I agree with you that their shows are not a courtroom and they should not treat real victims the way some of the do, especially to the point of influencing their death. 🙂

It’s not that it is not surprising to me that Nancy Grace failed on the most basic step for any interviewer/journalist, it’s that it cost the life of yet another victim that Nancy Grace has had contact with that is the crux of the problem. And for what reason, victimizing another victim for the sake of, and to exploit for, potential ratings? Her show has had over a dozen show producers quit their jobs at CNN because of Nancy’s unprofessional actions just since the Duckett catastrophe. Many people that have worked along side her disagree with her basic lack of fundamentals and her lack of knowledge on subjects she attempts to cover and CNN had to re-write her contract several times because of her drug and alcohol abuse issues, and current and former CNN employees are prohibited from filing suit against her because of the hiring contract they signed. Nancy Grace is the Jerry Springer of the media shows. She truly is nothing more than something to laugh at. Her error-rate is in the 90 percentile on the cases she tries to cover. That is a crime in and of itself, at least to well-educated viewers.

  9. Nancy Grace is panicking after her taped Depo hearing. Nancy’s “new” defense-strategy in the Duckett lawsuit is to BLAME OTHERS for her own unprofessional conduct. Since the actual facts still outweigh Nancy’s version of the events in this case and continue to be used against Nancy, it appears the actual truth may finally prevail even though Nancy wishes the facts would just go away. Nancy Grace is now trying to blame Keren Schiffman for Duckett’s suicide, not Nancy herself. Nancy has already tried multiple times to get out of this lawsuit, and lost her attempts at every step of the way which is over six different legal motions filed by Nancy and CNN to get Nancy out of the “hot-seat.“ Since the deposition last month where Nancy was allegedly screaming and yelling at her fellow CNN staffers and Nancy was later taped with a “scratchy throat-talk“ on her show (from all her screaming and yelling) that very evening, Nancy is now trying to present even yet another version as to why everyone else is responsible for Duckett’s death, and not Nancy herself who instigated the circumstances which generated the death of the Florida mother of a missing child who tried to get help to use the show to get the word out to viewers to assist in the search for Trenton, who is still missing largely because Nancy’s unprofessional interference with an active police investigation and Nancy has inadvertently rendered the police hopeless and helpless since Nancy helped to end the life of a key suspect in that case.

  12. While Nancy does sensationalize the news events she does do tireless work for children. I applaud her for that. She does need to check on the facts a little more before assuming that just because a truck was parked out of Tiger Woods home that someone is moving out. CNN news said that he and his wife were on the yacht trying to get away to patch up their marriage and that the truck was there to get more food from their home to bring to the yacht. She just jumps without checking the facts and tells everyone that someone is moving out. They just wanted to get away to patch up there marriage.

  17. Nancy Grace offers to ‘knock the crap’ out of Casey Anthony, according to Nancy herself. Now, that would be fun to see Nancy get pummeled by a real victim of a crime. Nancy is so jealous of Casey because Nancy was never a victim of any crime herself, and she’s extremely jealous of Casey. Wouldn’t it be fun to watch Nancy’s fat jiggle all over as Casey pounds Nancy’s flared-nostrils flat?

  20. Hello too Anonymously Yours. But, why would you want to be represented by someone who has lawsuits pending against her in both state and federal courts and has abused her own child(ren)??? (you do realize that Nancy cannot represent anyone, since she is contractually barred from ever practicing Law anymore anywhere within any of the 50 states of the United States).
