Nation on Fire: Mexicans Finally Rally Against Corrupt and Violent Police

In a case that reads like a scene from Man on Fire with Denzel Washington, Mexican police officers have been arrested in the abduction and death of the son of a wealthy industrialist. Fernando Marti, 14, was the latest victim in the kidnapping rage in Mexico. He was found dead in a trunk and his abductors proved to be members of the Judicial Police force. Mexicans are now calling for reform and and Mexico City is disbanding the force.

Marti was kidnapped June 4 by men dressed in Federal Agency of Investigations uniforms. His family negotiated by cell phone and paid a ransom reported to be around $2 million. The kidnappers killed the boy’s driver, Jorge Palma, to show the family that they were serious. They then strangled his bodyguard, Christian Salome, several days later — though he amazingly survived.

It is a story that demonstrates how fortunate we are in the United States. We enjoy a police force that is remarkably honest and professional. While we sometimes deal with brutality cases like the recent stories posted here, they remain the exception and both police brutality and corruption in the U.S. are relatively rare.

  1. Rafflaw,

It also struck me that unless PERCY also happens to be J.T., possibly his Evil Twin ala The Dark Half, he doesn’t really have any say in who can and can’t post on this blog.

  2. Gyges you are absolutely correct. There is no need for the response that Percy directed at Zakimar. Whether you agree with the person or not, you should be able to keep it professional and cordial when you are responding on this and any other blog.

  3. But I say to you, do not resist the evildoer. But whoever strikes you on the right cheek, turn the other to him as well. (Matthew 5:39)

…We sent after them Jesus the son of Mary, and bestowed on him the Gospel: and We ordained in the hearts of those who followed him Compassion and Mercy. (Koran 57:27)

As Jesus inspired both Muslims and Christians, I continue to follow his guidance. I have as many cheeks as you do hands, so go in Peace my brother.

  4. Percy,

Far by it for a closet Zionist like myself to defend Zakimar, but he sometimes uses actual arguments. You on the other hand seem content just to insult people and assume that means you’re right.

Also, in MY America we allow people to say what they want, even if we disagree with them.

  5. zakimar: you are a slimeball. you insult the calibur of the United States Army from your scum two bit piece of crap hideout in a third rate country.

    SHOVE IT

  6. Hey Dundarhead!!!! Your buddy Dubya didn’t introduce or support ANY legislation that would help that problem. NONE, ZERO, ZIP! He avoids this issue every time he is asked and refused to do anything about it. And by the way, he has been president for 8 flippin years. If I remember correctly, it was the liberals that pushed through the funding to rebuild what horrible barrier we had.

Do some research before making stupid statements like that!

I suppose these would also come out of your mouth:
“Liberals want to take my guns away”
“Liberals give too many free handouts”
    “Liberals don’t support the troops”
“Liberals won’t let me marry my sister”
“Liberals want to spend, spend, spend”

Are we seriously turning this issue of corruption in Mexico to a domestic political issue? It’s a sad story below our southern borders, and it would be nice if Mexico could solve the problem, not the U.S.

  7. Mexico turned from the nation every Taiwanese envied 25 yearo ago to the nation everyone wants to avoid. They only have themselves to blame. With corruption going rampant, 25 years and going, Mexico will get nowhere unless that corruption problem is fixed. You can never build anything when people are stealing everywhere. You lose your nails, your timber, and your bricks. In the end, you never did anything. They all got stolen. That’s what corruption can do.

  8. Liberals are too busy urging Americans to “fight to reclaim their nation”. They might have more time to worry about the “tens of millions” strong Mexican hordes in January.

I think what Mexico really needs is ‘Regime Change’, I hear the US Army is still looking for “a few (of any kind of) men”.

  9. It takes a lot of courage to stand up to a systemically violent “police” force. I admire these people for taking them on. I don’t underestimate the power of any govt. over the people and fighting back is an act of strength worthy of great respect.

  10. Mexico is one of the most corrupt nations in the world.

Liberals think the answer to a corrupt nation at our border is to let tens of millions of Mexicans flee to America instead of urging them to return and fight to reclaim their nation.
