Seven Years Bad Luck and a Lifetime of Ribbing: Officer Shoots Mirror Image of Self

thumb_policeman_cartoonShaving every morning might be something of a challenge for one Pittsburgh police officer. The officer has been found to have shot a mirror after seeing a man pointing a gun at him. It turned out to be his own image.

The officer was investigating a drug complaint and was chasing one of the suspects, who was believed to be armed. When one of the men ran into a home, the detective entered the kitchen and saw a suspicious character pointing a gun at him. He fired two shots and bagged his own image. In the meantime, the suspect (who dropped his weapon) escaped. A teenager in the home was unhurt, but the mirror is finished.

  1. Well, an officer must only draw his weapon as a last resort and only discharge rounds with the intent to cause severe bodily harm.

    However, in this case I do not think the officer could justifiably claim “self-defense”…
