Best wishes to everyone on this Memorial Day weekend.
Safe travels to all those who are hitting the roads this weekend. While Memorial Day is technically Monday, this has rightfully become an extended weekend affair.
I would love to learn the origins of this photo which appears to come from the Navy archives. If this is not photoshopped, it is amazing. Heck, even if it is photoshopped, it is still amazing.
Fake. Easy to spot. Come on, let’s grow a critical faculty.
Now this is a thread that should have 150 posts. Happy Memorial day all.
That’s funny, LL.
Glad I could of help.
But the secret ‘undisclosed location’ has still. of yet. not been revealed to a deficit to JT’s peace of mind and fulfillment.
I’m thinking Annapolis…
LindyLou,
I’m glad you cleared that up. I thought one of us had licked oak bark and was seeing the picture, “kinda-funny-like”! I didn’t know what flags you meant!
Sure are. Thank you to Patty C for posting the picture that set me straight. That should prove that she and I aren’t the same. She can see and I apparently can’t.
LindyLou,
They are pretty cool aren’t they?
Those are planes, not flags!! No wonder I couldn’t make sense of where things were. So the picture is even cooler than I thought it was.
And to think that it used to be called Decoration Day to honor those fallen in the Civil War. My how much we have change. FYI Chester A Arthur started it all.
… up close and personal.

Enjoy!
That is a great photo. I hope everyone has a great and safe Memorial Day weekend. I may have to go lock up the house and close all the windows because Podunk may be looking for me! On second thought, I am staying on the patio and putting my feet up and waiting for podunk to show up in Northern Illinois. That is as soon as I get the lawn mowed. I want it to look nice when Podunk visits.
Rad photo.
Happy birthday Dylan … I remember.

Happy Memorial Day! I hope everybody gets to relax and have some fun with your friends and family in beautiful spring weather this weekend.
Yes, that picture is truly amazing. I was curious about the flags. They look like they might be Navy parade flags, and the Naval Academy uses some flags with numbers.

I’d love to know what the flags are attached to. That would be a heck of a crow’s nest.
Podunk:
Don’t get a headache trying to figure this out:
I am still determined to be cheerful and happy, in whatever situation I may be; for I have also learned from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends upon our dispositions, and not upon our circumstances.

I guess that makes you—-what’s the word? Oh yeah—-WRONG. Duh!
That is a great picture!
eniobob,
I like your idea of putting out a holiday link. Here’s mine, it’s about “bigfoot” in Texas!

With the “Keith Olbermann attitude” so prevalent at this blog, I am surprised the picture hasn’t been photo shopped so the US Military Jets appear to be headed for the ground…..
Seriously, you all half dozen should just lock down your homes on Memorial Day and stay inside…
This link will really put this holiday in perspective for a lot us,Enjoy,
