Something Borrowed . . . : Tennessee Couple Spends Honeymoon in Jail After Burglarizing Wedding Chapel Where They Were Married

DykesBrian.boxMcGheeM.story01Brian T. Dykes, 21, and Mindy K. McGhee, 24, took the “something borrowed, something blue” thing a bit too literally. Hours after their marriage in Sevierville, Tennessee, they returned to the Angel’s View Wedding Chapel at the Black Bear Ridge Resort to burglarize it. They spent their honeymoon in separate cells.

alter10The couple is accused of smashing through the door of the chapel and stealing cash and fees from other couples.

Wedding crimes and torts appear the rage, here and here and here.

  1. rafflaw–

I agree about theirs being a match made in heaven–two soulmates perfectly suited for each other.

I think, in this couple’s case, that old marriage saying should be changed to–“something old, something new, something burglarized, now we’re blue.”

  2. These two are a match made in heaven. For their next caper they will be stealing the jumpsuit off of the Elvis minister.

  3. They’ll have a great first night of marriage story to tell their friends, not to mention the vicissitudes of their honeymoon.

  4. Ah, the old Crystals song:

    “Goooing to the chapel
    and goooing get money …
    in this chapppel of cash.”

  5. Unfortunate, I guess. At least they were not breeding that night. I guess this young man learned a valuable lesson, don’t marry an older women. They may have experience that you do not want.
