Report: Fifty Percent of Households Pay No Federal Income Taxes

A recent report shows that 47 percent of U.S. households pay no federal income taxes. The Tax Policy Center found that the percent of non-paying households had risen from 38 percent in 2007 to 47 percent this year.

Another interesting factoid is that households making more than $366,400 paid about 73 percent of the income taxes collected by the federal government.

This is not the image often presented in Washington when legislators complain about tax fairness for the middle class. White House adviser Paul Volcker appeared to call for higher taxes yesterday to deal with the rising deficit and Obama officials have been suggesting that the wealthy should face higher taxes to establish tax equity.

  1. You know why the poor dont pay taxes because they don’t make jack s__t! Why tax the rich? Just like willie sutton said because thats where the money is. How can you tax the poor when they have nothing? Only one option left. Tax the hell out of the rich f__cks! I’m sorry but if you make over $200,000 a year you are motherf__king rich. Anything above that is obscene and should be taxed until this country is on equal footing THEN we can talk about lowering the taxes for everyone; not just for the rich or the poor because thats where the argument starts on why you pay this percent or that percent.

  2. Man you are just like a macerator pump, can’t get no shit by you without grindin it up.

  3. Ok, now you’re just posting everyones words without commentary, and which in no way refutes anything I just said, nor strenghtens your position.

If you’re implying that I stated Willie Nelson went to prison, then I challenge you to reprint the comment where I did that.

Don’t reference it. Just reprint it, by itself for all to see.

You can’t, because I did not.

    But feel free to try.

No one said Willie Nelson went to prison.

No one suggested Willie Nelson went to prison.

As I said coming in after the fact to rephrase everyones argument so you can appear to refute them will not strengthen anything that you said.

Posing an argument on behalf of others that they themselves never made, then pretending to refute it indicates an inability to debate when the debate is actually going on.

I think everyone made it quite clear that “REFUSING” to pay was what sends one to jail.

Coming in after a discussion days after it ended to rephrase everyone’s positions in your own words doesn’t make your points anymore accurate.

No AY, it just pisses me off that someone wants to fear monger people with the threat of going to jail for failure to pay. Thats the real Gestapo.

Incidentally AY, it was your first comment that got me going. I did not read what ever BVM”S argument was To not pay, So don’t include me with that of his position or your’s.
