“Death By Hooker”: English Banker Tricks Katie’s Lovely Escorts Into Carrying Out Real Execution

English Police are dealing with a truly bizarre crime. Colin Birch, 44, was an assistant Vice President at Deutsche Bank in London who was recently laid off. He arranged for two escorts to meet him in the forest to punish him and carry out a faux execution. However, it turned out to be real with Birch hanging in the forest in what police have called “death by hooker.”

The banker had previously arranged such meetings with escorts for kinky sex and abuse. Ms. Laurent and Ms. Sturley, from Katie’s Lovely Escorts agency, put the noose around his neck while standing on a wooden step and told him he deserved to die. They said that they thought he had a harness and that it was just play acting. They were paid $100 each by the married father-of-two.

They said that they left him only for a moment and returned to find him dead.

  1. I suppose that this is a Polish Escort service with ties to Nuremberg….The Company Motto. We don’t harangue over price…for something a little more nice….

  2. marie,

They changed the name because “Katie’s Hideous Escort’s” just wasn’t roping in the clients.

  3. The statistics for corruption convictions in Chicago are getting worse all the time so he probably should have waited a while before making the plunge.

  4. Yissil, this wasn’t a case of erotic (or auto-erotic) asphyxiation. The overt role-playing was to play out the threat of hanging, rather than have the sensation of being asphyxiated. A much more prominent case of auto-erotic asphyxiation was (probably) the death of rock singer Michael Hutchence – although there is a fair amount of controversy about his death possibly being suicide. It’s interesting that families would prefer that the cause of death be ruled intentional suicide, as it is seen as less shameful than auto-erotic asphyxiation.

This case reminds me of a recent suicide here in the Chicago area – a prominent man faces serious problems in his life and decides not just to commit suicide, but uses other people to do it… The head of the Chicago-area commuter rail system was busted for a long run of corruption*. For years he had given presentations on how traumatic it is for a train engineer to have someone jump in front of the train. But that’s exactly how he committed suicide. Total bastard.

(* albeit surprisingly minor corruption – his decade plus of bilking the agency probably netted him a few hundred thousand dollars. Somehow third world politicians fill Swiss bank accounts with hundreds of millions of dollars, but corrupt US politicians/officials go down for comparatively tiny amounts…)

  5. Apparently “erotic asphyxiation” is quite the thing, and this is the second fatal case I have heard of involving a member of the British upper crust. The first one was a Conservative MP in 1994 and it apparenty made an impression on me because I can still remember it.

    From Wikipedia article “Stephen Mulligan”:

“Forty-five year old Milligan was found dead in Hammersmith, London.[2] The discovery of his corpse in what was presumed to be a state of autoerotic asphyxiation, combined with self-bondage and cross-dressing, led to a greater public awareness of auto-erotic asphyxiation and self-bondage and their risks. A bizarre detail of his death, which was the subject of much comment and speculation at the time, was that he was found to have had an orange segment in his mouth at the time of his death.

At the time of his death he was engaged to Julie Kirkbride, who later served as Conservative MP for Bromsgrove

  6. The love of money is not only the root of all evil, it’s the root of all stupidity.

  7. Woosty,

Someone laid-off and either so depressed or desperate for his family to get his life insurance that he arranges his own death is horribly depressing.

So, yes, an intricate revenge plot like we’d see on Law & Order is much more fun.

  8. “The more fun Law & Order explanation is….”

the more fun???? sheesh, that’s a tad depraved….

  9. Isabel,

The more fun Law & Order explanation is that someone paid the hookers to kill him. But you’re almost certainly right.

  10. Maybe the guy had life ins. policy that exempts suicide coverage and was trying to make it look like he was murdered. There are better ways to do this without involving and traumatizing other people. Another victim of the econ. meltdown. It’s actually very sad.

  11. Well now its the Attorney Time……lol…That gives a new meaning to playing with him…..huh….
