In Statesville, North Carolina, Christopher Kaiser, 29, was looking for the famed “ghost train” of Iredell County when he encountered a real train around 2:45 a.m. Though tragic, in any litigation, his death would likely be treated as an assumption of the risk.
Two other people were injured in the accident. The sheriff’s office stated that “[d]uring the investigation, witnesses told deputies they were at the site in hopes of seeing a ‘ghost train.'” This is the anniversary of a train wreck at that location in 1891.
There were a dozen people on the trestle looking for the ghost train.

Well, this certainly qualifies as the Darwin Award winner of the year.
Reminds me of a case I investigated during my research into the bizarre world of doctor misbehavior. I have 11,000 cases of lab coat lunacy on my computer, many, like this one, where a New York physician blew himself up while trying to destroy his home, which had just been apportioned to his divorcing wife.
If you’re at all interested, here’s a strange case of a doctor who seemed to be chasing his own ghost train . . . .

Well Blouise,
I suppose he can go anyway he wishes……train…..hey aren’t you the one that always advocates taking the train….
Are there people that go to the North Atlantic to search for survivors on the Titanic?

Smart alec … I admire your restraint.
But there’s an idea … let’s organize a cruise to go to the Titanic site and hunt for ghosts … betcha Buddha would sign up!
Perhaps he actually achieved his goal – the best way to ride the Ghost train is to be a ghost yourself.
Sounds Like a Darwin Award (TM) to me.

Well, now some crazy idiot can go back to the site every year and look for this guy’s ghost … will he be riding the ghost train or flagging it down … crazy minds want to know!
