Former Austin police officer Scott Lando received a generous sentence from visiting state District Judge Fred Moore after his conviction for giving drugs, money, and even possessions of his wife to prostitutes for sex.
Lando faced two years in prison but was given probation by Moore who said that he was punished enough by leaving the force. Moore did note that “I am not happy with him. God knows, nobody in this room is happy with him.”
The jury found that he gave drugs to prostitutes and brought them to his Cedar Park home where he gave them things belonging to his wife, including a pair of black Harley-Davidson boots and a gold necklace. His wife stood with him in court during the sentencing. She insisted that she did not believe the allegations.

It is interesting that his wife didn’t believe the allegations. She either believed that he had a real drug problem and was willing to forgive him and didn’t want him to suffer any more repercussions, or perhaps he was actually being framed for these crimes. We don’t know if the evidence was tight or not. Maybe they just wanted him off the force. As said elsewhere, it is Texas.
