A new Gallup poll shows just how racially divided the country has become over the President. The poll shows a whopping 91% of Blacks supporting Barack Obama as compared to only 36% of Whites.
President Obama’s overall approval rating has stayed below 50% and some polls have him in the 30s. This poll shows him at 45%.
Democrats still like Obama by 79% and liberals are just slightly lower at 75%. The poll would suggest that liberals are not altering their views of the President despite his adoption of many Bush era policies, as discussed earlier.
Gallup shows failing popularity in every other demographic group beyond African-Americans:
57%. Hispanics: 55%. Moderates: 54%. Unmarrieds: 53%. Easterners: 52%. Women: 47%. Midwesterners and Westerners: 45%.
Beyond Whites in general, the worst groups are married citizens at 39% and seniors at 38%.
While the Administration has been trying to appeal to conservatives in various areas, it does not seem to be having an impact. Obama has a 23% popularity among conservatives. For Republicans, it is down to 12%.

Come on, Elaine, no one has a hairstyle as bad as James Traficant… And you’re right on the nose about President Obama learning the wrong lessons from President Bush.
Buckeye,
I like the analogy that the teabaggers* are cats in the Republican herd (I’ve always though that the comparison of building consensus among Democrats to herding cats was apt).
*I know I shouldn’t refer to the tea party as ‘teabaggers’, but they were stupid enough to use the term without knowing what it meant…

Thanks for the link!
http://thenewsoftoday.com/donald-trump-as-president-republican-candidate-for-2012/3154/ Just so you don’t think I am making this up, Elaine. We think Obama favors the corporations and wealthy people too much but they think they can’t get a break.
Swarthmore mom,
“Apparently, Donald Trump is polling in New Hampshire about a potential presidential run.”
Say it ain’t so!
Donald Trump: The only man in America with a hairstyle as bad as James Traficant’s.
Blouise I read it. I talked about it yesterday to Tony C. Friedman refers to the “radical center”. He views labor unions as an impediment to change.
SwM,
“Bloomberg could form a third party.” Did you read Thomas L. Friedman’s Third Party Rising column in the New York Times yesterday? If not go on-line to get it …
Hey there Buckeye … been missin’ you!
Got a 100% on the other thread but had to think about the Edwards question for awhile … we Buckeyes know our religion facts.
I have even been polled by Rasmussen. I guess they were looking for a white Obama supporter in Texas. Apparently, Donald Trump is polling in New Hampshire about a potential presidential run. The hope is that a non fundamentalist businessman can take the nomination from the christian fundamentalists. Bloomberg could form a third pary.
Blouise
I’ve been polled once – during a Nixon campaign – and the questions were so conditioned I couldn’t even answer some of them.
Recently I’ve gotten phone polls about the health care plan but if you don’t give them the right answer, they hang up!
Mespo
Sorry, I hit the submit button too soon. I meant to add
The Tea Party has thrown some cats into the Republican political waters. Now it gets interesting.
Mespo
Maybe it’s the difference between herding sheep and herding cats.
mespo,
Obama has already learned some things from Bush. Unfortunately, they were the wrong lessons.
Bush understood one thing and one thing only about modern politics: keep your base. Obama has done everything he can to alienate his base from outright insults to pandering to the politicians its loathes, all in some doomed attempt to build “consensus.” Obama could learn a lot from Bush.

Hey, I’m in the minority! I’m white and I support the president (emphasizing the good while acknowledging the bad).

“(emphasizing the good while acknowledging the bad)” takes you out of the minority …..
Hey, I’m in the minority! I’m white and I support the president (emphasizing the good while acknowledging the bad).
Yeasterday I went to the movie “The Social Network”. It is as good as the reviews. Before the movie there was an extreme, anti-Obama ad that was run by a conservative group. One woman yelled Obama and other people started yelling Bush.
Nobody ever calls me for polling purposes.
I am as surprised as Blouise….Yeah SWM….why aren’t you a Republican….Oh yeah….you have a heart….damn….can’t confuse the two….
I am a married, old, white person A person with those demographics should be voting republican, but I am not.
And who is surprised by this?
