  1. Fellow junkies (and given past comments, I wonder about Elaine…):

We have way too much in common… 🙂

Swarthmore mom, Stevia-sweetened Coke? Do tell…

Yes, to natural/better ginger ales, Buddha.

    Blouise, I’m a fellow “rationer.” It’s bad…

  2. Blouise,

It is sweeter than Coke, but not as sweet as Pepsi. At least to my taste. Pepsi is like chewing on sugarcane. What I like about RC is that it’s not as carbonated as Coke. The truth of the matter is I prefer ginger ale. The good stuff too and with lots of ginger. I rarely drink a mass produced soda unless I’m eating out simply in avoidance of HFCS and aspartame.

  3. Buddha I tried some RC of few times. I agree with Blouise that it is too sweet but it doe not have nutrasweet. I am going to get my stevia sweetened one now. It tastes better than RC but it’s not the real thing and it is expensive.

  4. Blouis I don’t like pepsi either. I have a couple of cold coke zeros in the refrigerator that I am dying to have. I will start out with two and quickly move to six before noon.

  5. SwM,

Thank god … another junkie. It really is a distressing addiction … I managed to quit for one whole year only to fall back.

I literally ration myself … only keeping a few on hand in the refrigerator.

When McDonald’s introduced the “supersize” I almost gave in and thought about visiting the establishment.

    I’m not kidding.

I despise their marketing strategy and their corporate politics but by god, I do love the product.

    (Pepsi sucks!)

  6. Blouise I have been a diet coke or coke zero junkie for a number of years. I am now off of it. I would like to say I boycotted it for political reason but I quit because of the harmful effects of nutrasweet. I have had many attempts to quit but have always ended up going back on. I now have two weeks off of it. I am drinking stevia sweetened coke and tea.

  7. Group Capt. Lionel Mandrake: Colonel… that Coca-Cola machine. I want you to shoot the lock off it. There may be some change in there.

Colonel “Bat” Guano: That’s private property.

Group Capt. Lionel Mandrake: Colonel! Can you possibly imagine what is going to happen to you, your frame, outlook, way of life, and everything, when they learn that you have obstructed a telephone call to the President of the United States? Can you imagine? Shoot it off! Shoot! With a gun! That’s what the bullets are for, you twit!

Colonel “Bat” Guano: Okay. I’m gonna get your money for ya. But if you don’t get the President of the United States on that phone, you know what’s gonna happen to you?

    Group Capt. Lionel Mandrake: What?

Colonel “Bat” Guano: You’re gonna have to answer to the Coca-Cola company.

  8. SwM,

Damn … I admit to being a “coke” junkie … I have to ration myself and control it or else I would soon look like a liter of coke. And it’s the real thing I crave … not the diet or the zero though the coke2 was a great addition but they aren’t distributing it up here anymore … only down south.

That’s my dirty secret … don’t tell anybody

  9. Wow, Smom.

I had read about some of Coke’s abuses in India and Turkey, but that was an eye opener.

Just another banned product and company I’ll add to the list.

  10. If priests would stop molesting and raping children, I’m sure the world would be a much more peaceful place.

  11. http://killercoke.org/ I don’t think the Coca Cola corporation is the right corporate image for peace either. Many colleges have removed the product from their campuses and are boycotting it.

  12. “The old Coka Cola ads “We want the world to sing in perfect harmony” are more appropriate than the images that Catholicism creates in none Catholics.
Especially people who are up on their world history.” (Marnie)

    ==========================================================

    Yep … I agree

  13. Why limit the image of peace or prayer to Catholicism? Do not other faiths also want peace?
I won’t even get into the reasons this particular modern Pope is inappropriate.

Why limit the hope of peace to a religion that brutalized entire continents, in fact much of the human life on earth, for almost two centuries, that fought hundred if not thousands of wars for motivations of greed, that exterminated hundreds of sub-races (tribes) of humans in total disregard of the welfare of human life?

The old Coka Cola ads “We want the world to sing in perfect harmony” are more appropriate than the images that Catholicism creates in none Catholics.
Especially people who are up on their world history.

  14. Smom,

It has been my experience that many Catholics don’t listen to the Pope either.

  15. Pope Jon Paul II came out against the Iraq war. Pop Benedict was against it when he was a cardinal but this is all he says now. I don’t think world leaders listen to the pope in any case. Bush didn’t.

  16. Judging by the way he has handled the pedophile issue, the Pope is a minimal effort kind of guy.
