It Came From Outer Space: NASA Scientist Reveals Fossil From Meteorite

Dr. Richard B. Hoover, an astrobiologist with NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, has released this picture of a fossil of a life form that came to Earth on a meteorite — as opposed to Sigourney Weaver’s stomach.

In the March edition of the Journal of Cosmology, Hoover says that these fossils appear in CI1 carbonaceous chondrites — a rare type of meteorite. If true, they are a life form confirmed from outside our planet.

  1. Buddha is Laughing,

As long as I don’t get stuck in the Christian afterlife… (although I’m hoping for Pastafarian heaven – all the spaghetti you can eat created from his noodlely appendage served to you by pirates… yum!)

  2. Mike S./I-N-I,

It should be noted as an aside that the in Buddhism the concepts of heavens and hells are also transitory states, thus addressing the boredom conundrum.

  3. Ahhh…Welcome back Mr. Hubbard. We have been wait..I mean, collecting your money for you….

  4. Mike S,

Thank you for the kind words. On the topic of string theory, I would hold off on embracing it for a while… Let the people at the LHC do their work – I would be shocked if the standard picture of particle physics isn’t significantly different in 2 or 3 years (once they do the scheduled maintenance – in a year or so – that will allow for two 7 TeV beams). If they start verifying predictions made by string theory, I’ll take notice, but until that happens it is math, not science (in my opinion) and math will never build you a space ship (although I have a nice theorem by Pythagoras, if you’re interested – it might have several thousand years on it, but it’s still solid… give the hypotenuse a kick, if you like). While some form of FTL travel (or some kind of space-time warping shortcut) would be nice, I’m not holding my breath.

By the way, I totally agree about the eternal boredom of heaven, but while the eternal bliss of nirvana might get old after a while, it certainly seems like the more attractive option…

    Mike A,

Down the hall and to the left… But why don’t you stay here a while and see if you like it – it’s not like we’re talking about rocket science… Um… er… oh, hell… it kinda is, but rockets mean astronauts and every red-blooded American jock wants to be an astronaut, right? 😉
