GOP Garanimals? Santorum Blames Abortion For Social Security Problems

Sometimes I get the feeling that politicians engage in a type of political Garanimals games: match any two or three signature words to enhance their political effect. Newt Gingrich warned citizens of how atheists and Islamic radicals would join together to destroy American. Now, presidential candidate Rick Santorum has combined abortion with social security to say that America’s
“abortion culture” is the reason that the Social Security system is failing. He would have gotten the full ten points if he added “feminists” or “environmentalists” in the dire warning.

The former Republican Pennsylvania senator said abortion rates have reduced the number of children in the United States and, as a result, there are not enough young people to support the system: “A third of all the young people in America are not in America today because of abortion.”

This of course put huge pressure on other candidates like Mitt Romney and Tim Pawlenty who need to grab the remaining hot button terms before they run out. The remaining words include environmentalists, feminists, homosexuals, reporters (already partially taken by Gingrich who added them with atheists and Muslims), modern art, NPR, and fluorescent light bulbs. This is how the GOP Garanimals game works. Just combine any terms in a conspiracy theory. For example, “fluorescent light bulbs are part of a push by feminists on NPR who reject beauty as a form of sexism and want all women to be shown in a bad light so that more people turn to homosexuality.” Voilà, you have a perfect stump speech.

You can play this for hours with your family and friends.

  1. Not sure Obama’s going to win. Maybe one of these guys or Palin or Bachmann will win. Obama is falling in the polls. Republicans could easily be in control of everything again.

  2. This is all very rational. First, prevent abortions and force women to have children. Next, deny medical care and food to sick/poor women. Those women and their children will die or limp along. Step 2: If the woman and her children live, take as much money as possible from them if they are poor, working or middle class. Step 3: After receiving every last dime, deny health care to the members of the same class so they will die young(er). Do not pay a dime for their care but get their money up front. The man’s a genius! Really, Obama needs him on his team, and perhaps he’ll put him on board after 2012.

  3. Santorum and others who believe much as he apparently does have finally found the real problem with our society?

There are not enough people to support the ultra-rich in their thieving life style because of all the violent rapes (including incest) which did not happen, and by not happening, did not result in live births?

Therefore, the Republicans have become the Pro-Life (and thereby), the Pro-Rape and Pro-Incest Party?

Have the corporations and government officials who believe like Santorum (and Scott Walker?) seemingly do become incestuous rapists of the work and values of ordinary people?

The Rape of the Commons by the Unelect?

  4. If anyone doubts that Mr. Santorum is a being of pure evil, go to The Daily Show’s archives and look up his appearance from a few years ago. He comes out four-square in favor of child abuse.

The farther we can keep him from the reins of power, the better.

  5. That google bomb was too funny…I was choking and laughing at the same time…thanks!

  6. Considering the intense debate about abortion, it is surprising that there are so few studies about why people get abortions.

I read one small study that said that most women who get abortions are actually married women with children who think that a new baby would cause deprivations to their already born children.

I also heard that most teens who get pregnant aren’t impregnated by their peers but instead by older men.

  7. OS,

“The more hits it gets, the longer it stays on top of the search pile.”

I know – Since Sanitarium has reared his ugly head in recent months, I’ve made it a habit to do a search at least once a week. I consider it my civic duty … lol!

  8. SL, yes that link has been around for a while. The more hits it gets, the longer it stays on top of the search pile.

  9. Rick Sanitarium is the poster child for why abortions should remain safe and legal. He’s not just an asshole, but a massive asshole.

    OS,

For the best example of a “Google Bomb” evah, just Google his last name and click on the first link at the top of the list.”

Lmao – It’s been on the internet tubes for a few years now … describes Sanitarium to a “T”

  10. For the best example of a “Google Bomb” evah, just Google his last name and click on the first link at the top of the list.

Fair warning: do not have food or drink on your person when you do so.

  11. Hey … Viet Nam reduced our numbers … the civil rights struggle reduced our numbers … The Kent State Massacre reduced our numbers AIDs reduced our numbers … I could go on … there are a hell of a lot fewer of us than there would have been had it not been for our government setting up kill zones … I figure it all evens out …

  12. Maybe like ATwater if he comes down with an inoperable brain tumor Rove will “find God” and apologize for all the evil he has done. But the evil men do lives after them and those two in particular have a Niagara of evil that no amount of contrition will erase.

  13. frank,

Someone posted this last Saturday or Sunday Rove theory….about doing well and voting Republican and doing well and being educated, they tend to vote Democratic….the exact words escape me…But what I got out of it was if people have something just a little better than chump change they rally for the GOP….if they have education and money….they rally for the Democrats and of course…he could not have any of that….Rove is a political manufacturer…he is the Harking Herald for strategy…..You have to give him that…..just like Lee Atwater….but at least he had a change of conscience before he died and called Dukasis and apologized for what he did to him…

  14. AY thats one of the things that I wonder about all the time – do these doofs actually believe this crap or are they just hoping we are stupid enough to believe it?

    Which would be worse:
President Gingrich – he doesn’t really believe this garbage but he spreads it with a huge shovel
    OR
President Huckabee – he believes this deep in is (what we will call for lack of a better term, soul)

  15. “A third of all the young people in America are not in America today because of abortion.”

I wonder if Santorum reads the same studies that Dr. Wendy does. You don’t think he’s just making this stuff up, do you?

At least, atheists die first–so the young don’t have to support them as long as they have to support God-fearing folks. PTL!

    😉

  16. in light of the fact that approx. 45 million beings have been eliminated since the passage of Roe v. Wade, there is some truth in his statement.

at least 25 million of which would be paying social security taxes now. Assuming an average salary of around $25k per year that would be around 84.5 billion annually into social security. $644 billion is spending for social security alone, excluding medicare and medicaid.

So probably somewhere between 10 and 20% of SS revenues have been lost.

In any case the poster Puzzling is correct, SS is a giant intergenerational Ponzi scheme which should be eliminated.

  17. How about just ending abstinence education?

At least this is an admission that social security is a ponzi scheme.
