In Need of Stimulus: Biden Naps Through Obama’s Budget Speech

With all of the stimulus floating around, no one can give Vice President Joe Biden a cup of coffee? A cup of Joe, anyone?

Biden was out for a full 30 seconds as Obama addressed the debt crisis. This would indicate that raising taxes may not rebound the economy but tapes of the proposals could help incurable insomniacs around the country.

  1. anon,

    “From the looks of those seated behind the Vice President within view of the camera, VP Biden wasn’t the only one having trouble keeping eyes wide open.”

    Lol – I noticed that, too

    Taliban Tootie,

    “Naturally, the geniuses at a savvy “law” blog (who are always kind enough to remind me of how stupid I am) don’t KNOW the feds do not have this authority.

    Apparently this knowledge is accessible only to us imbeciles who actually read and support the Constitution.”

    Lmmfao – yes, you and Michelle Bat-Shit Bachmann are the REAL constitutional scholars … silly us for thinking otherwise!

    Just remember, Taliban – we are not laughing WITH you, but AT you.

  2. That wasn’t me “blathering”. It was James Madison. Taxing and spending for the common good is a power Congress specifically has under the Constitution. Your protests to the otherwise notwithstanding. See, Tootles, that’s one of the meanings of “stupid” – someone who argues the opposite in the light of evidence to the contrary.

  3. U.S. Constitution, Art. I, Sec. 7

    “Section 7 – Revenue Bills, Legislative Process, Presidential Veto

    All bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.’

    U.S. Constitution, Art. I, Sec. 8

    “Section 8 – Powers of Congress

    The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

    To borrow money on the credit of the United States;

    To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;”

    We just aid the Constitution around here, Tootles.

    It does a fine job of making you look stupid on the face of its plain language combined with your willing participation in engaging in stupidity.

  4. Oh, and the federal congress has no authority for a “jobs bill”.

    Naturally, the geniuses at a savvy “law” blog (who are always kind enough to remind me of how stupid I am) don’t KNOW the feds do not have this authority.

    Apparently this knowledge is accessible only to us imbeciles who actually read and support the Constitution.

    Or they know the feds have no such authority (a “jobs” bill) and just prefer to be subversive and usurping.

  6. Blouise,

    I’ve watched the clip several times now and all I keep saying is, “DAMN! This guy is GOOD!”

    “Hats off to the voters of New York’s 7th District … you sent us a good one!”

    Agreed!

  7. I don’t understand what’s happening. The repubs are winning and it’s the dems fault. They make meek and mild speeches, usually at the wrong places at the wrong times, while the repubs show up everywhere riling up crowds. Isn’t it time for the dems to rile up crowds? They’ll realize their error after they lose. Make speeches, start yelling…half the nation doesn’t even realize the repubs want to raise the SS age etc.

    Like when they avoided a government shutdown. Obama surprised a group of old ladies and ten year olds at a Washington Memorial……there were like a few dozen people. Meantime the repubs were screaming on CNN and every other outlet.

  8. Stamford Liberal,

    Damn … that was creative and effective.

    Hats off to the voters of New York’s 7th District … you sent us a good one!

  9. rafflaw,

    “Excellent presentation…although Biden might have napped through it! :)”

    Lmao – true!!
