Rep. Steve King on Planned Parenthood

The push by Republicans to deny funding of Planned Parenthood has been justified by citing the abortion services provided by Planned Parenthood. However, the contraceptives provided by Planned Parenthood prevent abortions. Cutting funding for contraception would actually
increase abortions.

The Republicans have tried to frame the issue as a fight against abortion. We have discussed how Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ) took to the Senate floor to falsely claim that well over 90 percent of what Planned Parenthood provides is abortion services, here.

Rep. Steve King (R-IA) has let the cat out of the bag. It’s not about abortion, it’s about promiscuity.

“Planned Parenthood,” King said gravely, “is invested in promiscuity.”

At least he is honest enough to drop the pretense that the defunding of Planned Parenthood is about abortion.

There has always been a cognitive dissonance from the pro-life camp who see abortion as this great evil and also refuse to support contraception. It has always been about sex. That is the real reason that the pro-life crowd supports abstinence-only as the only form of birth control. It’s about control over a woman’s sexual persona.

It is ironic that the ones who so quickly condemn government intervention in its citizen’s private lives, can so readily support measures that would allow government intrusion in the most personal aspect of human existence.

    NO! Only women are promiscuous when they have sex outside of marriage. Men are just following their natural God-given primal urges, doncha know. Women are supposed to be kept barefoot and pregnant…and at all times subservient to their superiors and masters who have “Y” chromosomes. We gals are supposed to know our place and to show our everlasting gratitude to Adam for his rib–from which Eve was created–by obeying our male counterparts.

    Rep. King is just a dirty old man who is part of the American Taliban. Women are second class citizens and cannot be trusted to decide what happens to their own bodies!

  9. It is the fact that Steve King is an idiot liar that gives his response credibility, in my view.

    The lies of idiot liars are typically rote repetition or nonsensical in the real world. When an idiot liar says something that both makes sense and is damning, to me that indicates the idiot component accidentally dominated the liar component: The idiot slipped up and forgot to lie.

    What the Republicans seem to advocate is patriarchal theocracy. I have no doubt they want to subjugate women, their other actions speak loudly to that. But concerns about promiscuity isn’t limited to females, it involves males as well.

    Look at the Muslim world, typically a patriarchal theocracy. For example, did you know, based on interviews in Israel with dozens of suicide bombers that were caught alive before blowing themselves up, that 100% of these 16-30 year old males were not just virgins, but had never kissed a girl, and virtually all of them had never so much as held hands with a romantic interest?

    The “patriarchal” part of this is strict control of the sex lives of everybody, boys, girls, homosexuals, whatever.

    If we read the Old Testament that most of these patriarchal theocracies embrace, the males own the members of their family and dispose of them as they wish. Lot can fuck his daughters and sell the offspring as slaves, the Lord gives rules for selling one’s daughter into slavery. The Lord also gives rules for men in sleeping with their female servants, and how to compensate them if they subsequently sell them. If children disobey, Moses claims the Lord says the parents must put them to death (or be put to death themselves).

    I suspect King was telling the truth in this case. Republicans really are against promiscuity and unsanctioned sexual activity by everybody except themselves. It is a foundation beneath their stance on immigration, welfare, sexual education, evolution, homosexuality, and even their anti-college stances and “social conservativism” and hypocritical pulpit pounding.

    Sounds like the sour grapes of a man who can’t get laid without the marital aids of money or position, Steve. Sorry! But that’s what happens when you don’t have a personality or charm. Now why don’t you be a good lil’ boy and go back to playing with your Tonka toys instead of bullying the girls who don’t want to have anything to do with you?

  13. Who is going to vote for this? What majority exists for these positions? People who worry about the promiscuity of others is baffling. I would set up and contribute to a fund to get the man laid if it would free us from having to listen to the awful sounds he makes.

  15. What do you expect of a guy who only has a high school diploma, no college degree and was in the business of running bulldozers? Apparently he either flunked out or dropped out of Northwest Missouri State after two years or so. So, at least he has an excuse. He is an uneducated man who ran a business based on just shoving unwanted stuff out of the way.

    He still has the mentality of his previous incarnation of bulldozer operator.
