Aloha, Birthers: Obama Releases Long Form Birth Certificate

It turns out Barack Obama is . . . is . . . a citizen. The White House has released President Obama’s long-form birth certificate to put the growing controversy to rest over his birth. Many of us have been critical of the birther conspiracy theories. However, I am not sure why the White House did not do this earlier since it addresses the allegations fully. It will be interesting to see that, now that Obama has produced the certificate, if the movement for state ballot laws declines. While it has been repeatedly stated that the laws are not about Obama, but we will see.

The long-form clearly states the date and other information. It also includes the name of Obama’s father — a focus of recent suggestions that the reason for withholding the document was the name of a different man or the inclusion of Muslim for religion.

Donald Trump immediately took credit for the disclosure stating, “Today, I’m very proud of myself, because I’ve accomplished something that nobody else has been able to accomplish,” Trump told reporters. “Why he didn’t do it when everybody else was asking for it, I don’t know. But I am really honored, frankly, to have played such a big role in hopefully, hopefully getting rid of this issue.”

I am not sure why the White House held on to the document. One theory could be that they knew it would blow up in the faces of Obama’s critics. However, it has served to rally critics for years. Those critics are not likely to register with the DNC now. They are likely to move on to other claims against Obama.

Perhaps now that he clearly was born in Hawaii, they will now claim that his is part of the Hawaiian royalty and thus making him ineligible as the holder of a foreign ennoblement.

  1. “I honestly believe that the only people who still question the president’s legitimacy (after it has been proven far beyond any reasonable standard) do so because of their prejudice against President Obama.”

That’s because you, as a racist, only see Obama’s father as being black. You cannot comprehend that he was an alien not domiciled here.

The child has the domicile of the father. The wife, upon getting married, obtains the domicile of her husband. See Joseph Story’s commentaries.

“But I think anyone that was considering hiring me would be more concerned about my skills”

Then you fail to comprehend the purpose of a background check.

“unlike some who hide behind anonymous identities pretending that they’re some kind of 007 working under deep cover.”

You should tell your buddy Lawrence Rafferty that he has put Professor Turley in a bad position. The logs will demonstrate which one of the guest bloggers logged on recently. Their disclosure to you of my email address violates the expected anonymity of this blog. In fact, it probably created the ability to subpoena the records should I decide to pursue a cause of action. If nothing else, it should demonstrate Professor Turley’s poor judgment in permitting a partisan hack like rafflaw to have access to such things.*

  2. Stamford Liberal,

You can address ‘Kris’ as ‘Jim’ (or Jim’s sockpuppet, to be more accurate…). Unless you want to ‘talk to the hand’ so to speak…

    I answered your question (4:09pm)

The 16th amendment was never added with the intent to do what it is being used for today.

  4. Blouise,

“What a glorious picture … I’ll nominate you for a “Medal of Freedom”. Hint … you’re going to need a hell of a lot hairspray for your Texas-sized hair-do … may I recommend “Big Sexy Hair Spray” …”

Awesome!! I’ll join the ranks of George Tenet and L. Paul Bremer … but because I actually did some GOOD!!

No Aqua-Net? I thought that was “the” standard in holding big-ass hair!

  5. Kris, or whomever has taken over her shift,

“Yes!! God said if you don’t work you don’t eat. I would sleep much better at night knowing I had worked for waht I had than was just given it. God will value my attitude and then help me find a better job.”

Jesus H. Christ in a wheelchair … first, not everyone believes in your god; second, somehow your emphatic and exuberant “yes” rings VERY hollow …

  6. NL,

I acknowledge my name because I’m willing to stand behind what I say (or admit when I’m wrong) – unlike some who hide behind anonymous identities pretending that they’re some kind of 007 working under deep cover. But thank you for reminding me why I stopped commenting regularly…

    good bye

  7. “Kris” or whoever you are that has taken ,

Seriously. What is with you teabaggers who keep saying that taxes are “theft?”

Taxes are legitimate via the Constitution … you know, that piece of paper you teabaggers keep saying you uphold and that we should stick to, blah, blah, blah …

    Blouise,

“Now Jim is telling untruths for all of us know Stamford Liberal moved to Texas last week because she inherited an oil field and several hundred head of cattle. She is growing really BIG hair and fully intends to run for Governor and have all teabaggers exiled to Mexico.”

Lmao! I’ll be the Pied Piper of the West … dangling Medicare cards and Social Security checks from the back of my big-ass Cadillac as I lead the teabaggers out!!

If you went to college for four, six, eight or more years and trained as say, an engineer, would YOU work at McDonalds?

Yes!! God said if you don’t work you don’t eat. I would sleep much better at night knowing I had worked for waht I had than was just given it. God will value my attitude and then help me find a better job.

  10. Kris,

“What you don’t know is that I have personally witnessed thounsands of people milking our system.”

So that automatically makes everyone suspect … Punish the majority for the sins of the minority … got it.

Name one system, anywhere in the world, that is 100% secure and fool-proof … I’ll wait with bated breath …

“The government can’t give me anything that it has taken from someone else.”

You take from the government every day and don’t even know it …

  11. NL,

I’ll be honest about myself with any potential employer. I honestly believe that the only people who still question the president’s legitimacy (after it has been proven far beyond any reasonable standard) do so because of their prejudice against President Obama. After the racist request for the first African-American president to ‘show his papers’ was granted, I am no longer willing to give anyone still unsatisfied the benefit of the doubt that their bigotry isn’t racism. The birthers have been acting shamefully for almost 3 years now and it is time that they were called on it.

But I think anyone that was considering hiring me would be more concerned about my skills…

  12. If you take that position, isn’t it just as immoral when Congress legalizes the taking of one person’s earnings to give to another? Surely if a private person took money from one person and gave it to another, we’d deem it theft and as such immoral. Does the same act become moral when Congress takes people’s money to give to farmers, airline companies or an impoverished family? No, it’s still theft, but with an important difference: it’s legal and participants aren’t jailed.

Market allocation of goods and services depends upon peaceable, voluntary exchange. Under such exchanges the essence of our proposition to our fellow man is: If you do something I like, I’ll do something you like. When such a deal is struck, both parties are better off in their own estimation. Billions of these propositions are routinely made and carried out each day. For example, take my trip to the grocery store. My proposition to the grocer is essentially: “If you make me feel good by giving me that gallon of milk you own, I’ll make you feel good by giving you three dollars that I own.” If my proposition is accepted, the grocer is better off since he values the $3 more than the milk and I’m better off since I value the milk more than the $3.

Contrast the morality of market exchange with its alternative. I might go to my grocer with a pistol and propose: give me a gallon of milk or I’ll shoot you. Or, I might lobby Congress to take his milk and give it to me. Either way I’m better off but the grocer is worse off.

Less there’s misunderstanding there are legitimate and moral functions of government, namely that of preventing the initiation of force, fraud and intimidation and we’re all duty-bound to cough up our share of the cost. All other matters in our lives should be left to civil society and its institutions
    Walter Williams

  15. Kevin Kesseler,

How’s that calling everybody who questions Obama’s legitimacy a racist thing working out for you? Have you been able to secure employment yet? If not, please let us know where you apply. 🙂

I see no quotes from you. That is indicative of not being able to support your claim. I’m not at all surprised. If you could back it up, you would. Ark may well have been eligible to be President, but the decision of the Supreme Court would not have been conclusive on the matter.

That the problem with bigots such as yourself. You consider yourself superior. A common trait among bigots. You are so racist that you see nothing but color. You do more harm to racial relations in this country than does the Klansman. At least the Klansman is honest about his racism. You use racism as a sword just as the Klansman does. You have much in common. Neither of you care. For the true bigot, the end justifies the means.

Why do I write “Kevin Kesseler”? I want to make sure that any potential employer sees how you argue your position. The more times that Kevin Kesseler shows up on a website, the more hits it receives when searched. Anyone running a background check will be sure to find that Kevin Kesseler is Slartibartfast and notify the potential employer.

  16. Blouise,

  17. Kris,

“Government can only work when it realizes that it must require one to earn and not be given.”

Who the fuck is government just “giving” to aside from Corporate America and Big Oil? You think the unemployed like being unemployed? You think the working poor like being poor?

“Take unemployment recipients. Call them and say I found you a job at McDonalds. Report tomorrow morning. How many of them will complain. See it is not about finding a job but rather the money.”

If you went to college for four, six, eight or more years and trained as say, an engineer, would YOU work at McDonalds?

If you truly believe that unemployed individuals, welfare recipients or those on social security are living some lavish, problem-free lifestyle all on the government dime, I’ve got oceanfront property in Arizona to sell you.

If you believe that those who must rely on food stamps, Medicaid or housing assistance are living the life they’ve always imagined, not only do I have oceanfront property in Arizona to sell you, but I’ve got a bridge over the East fucking River to sell, too.

  18. Kris,

“The citizens of our state are not entitled to get help.”

Why not? Why can’t government help those in need, like the unemployed, the elderly, the sick, the disabled? Will the earth open and swallow TexASS whole for helping those who need it? And, I thought all you TexASS people were god-fearing Christians … where’s all that Christian compassion and charity?

“That is your problem: You beleive government helps people and I believe they only hurt the people. Take war on poverty. It has been going on for about 40 years and are we any closer today to solving the poverty question? NO! Your philosophy doesn’t work.”

I believe government should have an active role in ensuring the welfare, safety, health and education of its people. If circumstances beyond a persons control present themselves, I would rather government – ie, my tax dollars – step in than watch families become beggars on the streets.

The war on poverty is a myth – always has been, always will be. It really has been a war to increase poverty, no thanks to the GOP. The GOP, joined now by the teabaggers, are hell-bent on making sure that government doesn’t work for anyone except those who can purchase the best Congress Critter their money will buy. By attempting to dismantle every successful social program this government has, the GOP and teabaggers seek to further diminish the middle and lower classes, and ensure that this country is nothing but those who have and those who have-not. As history has shown time and again, the have-nots won’t sit by quietly much longer …

Fruit loops like you are of the mindset that those who you deem unworthy are getting something you are not, and that is one of the root causes of why the angry white mobs whine, “Take our government back!”
