  1. Roco,

My guess is that if Obama gets another term our economy will transition to a more socialistic economy than it is now.

Now you’ve convinced me to vote for Obama again.

  2. This is a test post. My other comments do not seem to be getting through. Sorry for posting it.

like the “tiny fireflys” seen during some of the first u.s. orbital flights. 🙂

we dont have unregulated capitalism, what we have is a seriously regulated economy. And that is why we are having a problem, what is going on is not unexpected based on what the FED has done.

I would buy all the gold and silver you can. My guess is that if Obama gets another term our economy will transition to a more socialistic economy than it is now. If that happens there will be minimal growth and limited opportunity for young people. See France for an example.

  5. Why did we go to the moon? In the main it was politics, to establish dominance of space. The arms race pervaded every decision made in Washington and space travel was in many regards was another front in the cold war and the arms race.

This is worth remembering because when we talk about ET now, we talk about them as if they have the same concerns and attitudes we would have or do have contemporaneously. We project that upon them forgetting that our own national motives shift dramatically regarding any given national endeavor.

For an ET to actually visit us might have nothing to do with us because all politics are local. Imagine US astronauts on the moon radioing Lyndon Johnson to say they had found a large group of tiny, insect-like creatures that might be smart- they seemed to be forming themselves up into the outlines of geometric shapes and Johnson growling ‘Well damnit!, that complicates the crap out of the space program’. 🙂

  6. Roco,

actually capitalism does work, it is statism that doesnt.

No unregulated economic system works, no matter what political overlay is included…it’s all context. Left purely to its own devices, unregulated capitalism has the nasty habit of cannibalizing itself, as we are presently witnessing.
