My Sleep Number is 911: Miami Officer Suspended For Hauling Mattresses On Patrol Car

This curious picture was taken in Miami. Officer Sandra Lyles has now been relieved of duty for hauling mattresses with her patrol car.

Lyles was off duty at the time but it is still a violation of department policy. Notably, the 32-year veteran of the Miami-Dade Police Department is set to retire Monday so the investigation will have no effect on her status. Since she was hired in 1980, Lyles has been disciplined over a dozen times, but has also received commendations.

I suppose that she could always argue the mattresses were missing their labels and were in custody at the time. Then again, retirement may be a good option at this point.

  2. The honesty prevails…. Hi, I’m from MDPD and you know you’re gonna get screwed…. Wanna get it over with before your momma get home?

  3. I really wouldn’t throw stones at a commendable officer who, just before retiring, relaxed a little. I’m sure she faced some very stressful situations and deserved a rest!
