The Chicago Sun Time is reporting a fascinating case involving a police cadet who collapsed from heat stroke after just 10 days in the police academy when asked to run three miles. Donald E. Barnes Jr. never finished the “slow jogging exercise” or the academy but was put on medical disability . . . . 15 years ago. Barnes has collected $500,000 over the last 15 years but has never returned to the academy to complete training, let alone work as an officer.
The 30-year-old trainee ran only five blocks on the slow jog when he collapsed and diagnosed with heat stroke and placed in intensive care due to kidney and liver failure.
He is now 45 years old with the support of the tax-free payments. He has been found with “lingering” effects of the heat stroke and is entitled therefore not only to free health insurance for himself but wife and their two kids born after the heat stroke.
It is interesting to see this level of disability payment for such a long period of time.
According to the Daily Mail, “Barnes underwent surgery and outpatient rehabilitation following his collapse in 1997, but ‘has had no other treatment or follow-up’ since then, according to a pension fund doctor’s report dating from 2010.” He is one of a number of CPD employees who have been questioned about their disability status — one of hundreds of such cases.

Anonymously–I see LOTS of articles in both The Guardian and the Daily Mail that is not reported in the US until it makes a stink in the British papers. I believet the old deaf guy on the bicycle in South/North Carolina was first reported in one of these papers, and I was wondering why we have to find out about stuff like that happening here from the BRITS! This happens often!

Sad case. While there may have been some legitimate claims for some temporary assistance since he was “on the job” when he was “injured”; he has abused the system and should be held accountable. Along with the CPD officials who allowed it to happen.

Never hire a fatso to be a cop. They are inclined to sit on the arse and eat donuts and get fatter. Hire real skinny ones who ride bikes and like to run. Bicycles not motorcycles. Never allow the fatso cops to shave their heads when they start to go bald. This fatso could live off of social security disability program called Supplemental Security Income or SSI. He could be a sit on your arse radio broadcaster in the home office. Butt, its Chi Town and he is probably related to someone on the Police Board to begin with or he would not have gotten into the Police Academy.

One which is very interesting and/or extremely offensive/racist can be found if you google Detective Shaved Long C_ _ k . What is hilarious about these blogs is how right wing the police are about everything accept their own union/contract/benefits.
