Air Force Husband and Wife Arrested For Allegedly Staging Shooting To Avoid Military Deployment

Christopher Tyquan Groomes, 26, is the latest husband arrested for shooting his wife. This crime, however, is a bit different in that his wife allegedly asked him to shoot her. Police say that Judy Groomes, 25, wanted to avoid deployment with the Air Force and staged the shooting, accusing unknown burglars in her home in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Staff Sgt. Judy Groomes, 25, received wounds on both of her legs from one round. Both of the Groomes are active military at nearby Barksdale Air Force Base.

Christopher Groomes was arrested on a gun charge. Judy Groomes faces a criminal mischief charge for allegedly filing a false police report.

Before seeking spousal assistance, Groomes was ordered, with the 2nd Logistics Squadron Inbound Receiving Section, to Southwest Asia. She will now have successfully avoided that stint in favor of a stint in a different institutionalized setting.

The victim statement part of the trial could be interesting in this case.
