HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Happy Halloween to all of the ghostly regulars of the Turley Blog! Despite the theory that Halloween is just a cry for help from my rotting soul, I love this holiday and the house is covered with our annual display of skeletons, webs, and spooky items.

We have created a graveyard scene this year with floating ghosts, flying witches, and a moving black cat among the tombstones on the front lawn. On the roof is our inflatable Pumpkin Witch looking down with 80 foot cob webs extending from the roof. The bushes are filled with frightful scenes. Most was taken down for the hurricane and set up again last night, including our witches pot with raging faux fire. As soon as night falls, we trigger the lightning machines (2) and thunder sound effects!

The kids are adopting an assortment of handmade costumes and the haul should be good this year.

Have a great and safe Halloween!

  1. Gov Christie of NJ has issued an executive order to postpone Halloween this year. Don’t remember which day is the new Halloween but it will give the kids a chance to stock up on candy.

  2. OMG! THE ZOMBIES ARE HERE! NEARLY OVERRUN – SEEMS LIKE I HAVE KILLED AT LEAST 2 DOZEN DEAD ZOMBIES IN YARD, ALL SMALL ONES THOUGH. THEY SEEM TO BE SLOWING DOWN NOW – UPSIDE IS EACH SEEMED TO HAVE A BAG OF CANDY SO OUR SUPPLIES ARE ACTUALLY INCREASING!!

  3. How about a little trip to visit Hades this All Hallow’s Eve? Maybe with Orpheus as he attempt to rescue his beloved Eurydice. How about taking that trip in Anais Mitchell’s post-apocalyptic American depression era folk opera?

And we all know about Orpheus, Eurydice, and Hades, but what of the patroness of the underworld? Enjoy the great word play of the talented Anais Mitchell –

  4. Sadly no trick or treating here … too much damage and over half the town is without power so unsafe and scary for real … kids are bummed. Hopefully they will be able to go out on Sunday

  5. Some folks just can’t get into their inner child and don’t get Halloween. Maybe it was a horrible childhood w/ alcoholic parents and turmoil. That’s sad. We can’t pick our family, but we can all choose to change the pattern. Look @ the pure joy of kid’s faces as you give them candy. It can change your soul.
