Lol, Tony’s right, that is a great looking apple, any bigger and he couldn’t get his mouth around it. What a good dog!
We had a dog that we would take to a local park. In the fall he would seek out the black walnut fruit (there were some beautiful old trees in Tower Grove Park) and, large and heavy as they were, he would pick one out and carry it with him all through our trek. He also carried it to back to the car and would then play with it/gnaw at it at home for a week or until it got so nasty I had to throw it out. I read in one of my plant/herbalist books that they contain a chemical compound that repels insects and that they would be collected and left scattered around the perimeters of rooms to repel insects from coming into a house. He must have liked the smell.

Our Gordon setters always went for the bird as a gift, but they always held them between the soft parts of their mouths so they weren’t hurt.
