A friend of mine sent me this picture. I know that apathy is a problem for a great number of our fellow citizens, but come on. Sure, it’s silly, but do you think this is clever? Is it indicative of a larger problem with the American mindset? Both? Or do you just not care?

“The name of the ‘I Don’t Care Bar and Grill’ isn’t a motto of an apathetic bar staff, but rather a leisurely suggestion that here, customers can put their troubles on the backburner. The laid back atmosphere attracts a decent amount of bar regulars who can enjoy a cold beer or a stiff cocktail, poured by a friendly bar staff. The kitchen serves standard pub fare like burgers and wings, and customers can find a little friendly competition in the weekly darts tournament. It’s easy to say “I Don’t Care,” and knock back a few pints at this low key pub.”
Here’s one of the comments:
A late night surprise stop at “I Don’t Care Bar and Grill” due to a cranky car left us high & dry right outside. The staff re opened the kitchen for few minutes and made us some wonderful nachos and few burgers. The ambiance is well used but loved. Paperbacks in baskets on the bar so you can drink a few brews and read a few pages while seeing the regulars banter and play darts in a league that seemingly had no losers and many winners regardless of their score. It is a bar without pretensions that just is good to hang out at.

Lyrics to “Things Have Changed”:

“People are crazy and times are strange
I’m locked in tight, I’m out of range
I used to care, but things have changed”
Thanks, Dredd.

And tonight? “I don’t care.”
Thanks, Gene H. The perfect thread at the end of a long day.
Maybe the name reflects the knowledge of both business and consumers that franchise food ultimately all tastes the same and isn’t worth spending a lot of time thinking about, even when choosing which one to visit. If it doesn’t it should.
LOL, the ladies of the [Friday] night movie club had three places fairly close by for after movie eats/drinks and they were all franchise’s. “I don’t care” was was the inevitable answer from all and “you’re parked closest to the exit so just lead and we’ll follow” to whoever had that parking distinction was as often as not the solution. For sure we would have made a special trip to eat at a place named “I Don’t Care”. 🙂
Rabid partisans are equally easy to control.
I will relate my experience the first time I was reincarnated. I got to the Pearly Gates for my interview on a Wednesday. As every dog knows that is golf day and so you get a “stand-in” for the interview. The guy coming out says: “Ya don wanna go in der.” I go in and the Gate Keeper looks just like Groucho Marx, mustache, big cigar and top coat. “Roscoe”, he says. “Where do ya wanna go?”
“Well”, I stammer, “Up to Heaven”. This was my first go round and I thought there was heaven. He explains it to me and I wont get into it all here but basically if you were a good human you can get reincarnated as a human and go to a good place like America or Amsterdam back on Earth. But if you were a bad human you might get Morocco and if a real bad person like some of the Nazis going through that day (it was 1944) then Morocco as a dog, hung up by the rear heels in a market place destined for the table as dinner. And since I had been a sort of good human he decided that I would go to Limbo. Which, in my case was this suburb of Saint Louis called Florissant, MO, as a Labrador. Not bad. So the question: “Where do ya wanna go” can have extreme implications and importance at critical times in life or afterlife or transition. If ya know what I mean.
“I’d respond to this, but I just don’t care…””
Here’s a Seattle restaurant just for you.
Phuket Thai
I’d respond to this, but I just don’t care… 😉
Seriously, I think the problem is not apathy per se, but polarization. Most people either don’t care or care so passionately about an issue that they demonize the other side to the point that they cannot or will not work with them or compromise in any way.
Obviously The Bar for serious drinkers. An apathetic populace is a populace easy to control.
Actually The Office Bar & Grill is in Olympia.
There is also a restaurant chain in Tacoma & Bellevue specializing in Vietnamese cuisine called:
What The Phở
(if you pronounce it correctly, it can take on a new meaning)

Nothing has changed. Do you want to give $5.00 to have your lamp repaired? Maybe you think that’s too much. Perhaps you think you’re being charitable.
My lamp is fine. What light do you have to give human that does not know what charity is. Charity is not giving an early thing. 1 Corinthians: 13:4.Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 5Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 7Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
Is your lamp full of this?

WOW, what a song! Just passing through. Jesus when he was on earth was just passing through. The truth in the world is one big lie. The truth is in him. His head is in a noose but he is out of range of the devils grip knowing he will be in Gods light when the door below opens. Getting away from myself as far I can is getting away from the self destructive natural nature of man that harms another. That draws us together with cords of love that cannot be broken. OH, how things have changed.
=======================================
But do you care?
You care about how you are not caring how others are being at peace with others. it is a non-condemning I don’t care. He has a sense of Serenity within himself self not caring what others do knowing they will one day have to answer for what they do. That kind of not caring gives him peace

Where is this place? I DO care.I wanna go there. But seriously, Americans have as one of our national characteristics that we DO care about things and try and improve lives and conditions.
Would you rather go to Hooters?

We don’t care: It’s the American Way.
LOL! I love light-hearted posts that also have a serious aspect. I see our culture as unbalanced in so many aspects, food, drink, politics, to name a few. Part of that imbalance is due in part to the polar opposites who care too much. They yell and scream making the majority just tune it all out and say, “I don’t care.”
I showed this to my wife for a laugh. I am constantly trying to get input from her on where we should go out to eat. This happened as recently as last night. As is almost always the case, her reply was, “I don’t care.”
“I used to care but things have changed …”
“I am trying to get as far away from myself as I can …”
Reblogged this on euzicasa and commented:
When challenged….EAT!
Kinda like naming a bar the “Office”….. It’s the mind set….. IMHO…
lol. I think it’s a tribute to everyone who responds to “where do you want to go” with “I don’t care, anywhere is ok with me”. It’s a merchandising trick that puts the name of the place in a lot of conversations.
My cynic side says it’s also the general state of affairs.
