Everything has been stolen — including the kitchen sink — from the kitchen of a model house in Kansas.
Police say thieves stripped the kitchen of the Clayton Homes unit in south Wichita, taking all the upscale appliances, the wooden cabinets from the walls and, of course, the sink.
General manager Kevin McCracken says the model unit was nearly ready for display when the theft occurred, sometime between 9 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Monday.
The missing appliances, cabinets, counters and sink, along with the cost of repairing the damage, amounts to a loss of several thousand dollars.
It seems the last sacred tenet of the felon code of conduct has finally been broken; there now truly is no honor among thieves.

Sorry, bfmike. Nothing ideal about economic conditions at all. Much to close to midterms. Republicans prefer high unemployment and a sluggish economy. It may win them the Senate.
As to the fate of American individuals and families? Republicans don’t care.
smh and exactly how do you feed yourself or family when the jobs out here are going to either WHITE COLOR THIEVES. or illegal immigrants? im not condoning criminal activity but if you have yet to accept the reality that this is deliberately being foisted on a certain group of people to foster the same attitudes that is being displayed on this board along with being able to force people into the now privatized prison system then that makes you no better..
100 million to clean out 2 ponds in westchester county but no money for youth services, housing, education, housing, or food. never mind senior services. then you have to realize that something is definitely wrong how about instead of sitting on these boards all day long judging people and situations you know nothing about. WE THE PEOPLE BEGIN TO STAND UP AND FIGHT BACK for all that is being stolen from the people….

All over the country we have infrastructure, roads, bridges and other, that need repair or the society as we know it will eventually stop working.
In some cases, real interest rates are negative. Investors are literally paying to store their money in government securities. It is unlikely it will ever be less expensive to make those repairs – that must be made – we have to make those repairs!!!!
In addition spending that money will create real work, for useful tasks, for honest jobs.
It really is a win/win/win situation. We buy repairs we have to make, at the lowest possible prices, and create real jobs that are desperately needed, which stimulates the economy.
Yet the bozos we have elected say no. What could these people possibly be thinking? The evidence says not very much. They are not thinking very much at all.
I know someone who was getting their his house foreclosed so he decided he was going to take everything with him whether it was nailed down or not. when he got to the water heater, he made sure the water was off and the tank completely drained. forgot all about the power though. it’s not often you see someone jump like that.
The town I am in has down some major road building based on bonding they did prior to the recession. They really have down a good job overall. Do I like every decision they made? No. But in general they were thoughtful about it and forward thinking.
” They really have down a good job overall. Do I like every decision they made? No. But in general they were thoughtful about it and forward thinking.”
You did not put too fine a point on it, but I am glad to acknowledge and correct a too broad statement when I make it. So let me state for the record, not all elected officials are bozos, only some of them. In particular the elected officials in you jurisdiction sound like they might be thoughtful, perceptive and effective.
There are specific reasons and situations in which government spending can have negative consequences for the economy. One of those situations is when the economy is operating at close to full capacity. In that case more government spending is likely to bid up prices for goods and services leading to inflation.
But high unemployment suggest the economy is not near capacity constraints. There are other measures that, taken with unemployment rate and labor force participation rate, indicate the current economy is operating no where near capacity.
Under current economic conditions, additional government spending will have few negative consequences and some very good ones, such as directly putting people back to work, and stimulating economic activity with the likely effect of putting even more people back to work – not to mention repairing bridges, tunnels and roads that we have to do in any case.
Current economic conditions are just about idea for increased government spending to have a needed positive effect on the lives of millions of individuals and families.

“Max-1 – you have to have a job to benefit by an increase in the minimum wage.”
Well there ya go, the perfect argument for guaranteed annual income.
With 3 candidates for every job opening, policies like cutting UI benefits are not going to put many people back to work.
Paul, As you know I was being sarcastic, they steal for drug money. Burglars don’t have no stinkin’ jobs!
Nick, there are many, many ways to make a buck in order to eat besides stealing the things produced by hardworking people doing honest labor. There should be no sympathetic feelings for poor thieves OR the rich banker thieves. Theft is a criminal activity that shows no consideration or respect for others, no matter what social level the thief occupies.
You’re luck they left the copper wiring.

They’re poor folks doing this so they can eat. Let’s be empathetic.

An easier method is to increase minimum wage…
… But alas, the Senate GOP blocked that.
So, copper pipes it is…
Max-1 – you have to have a job to benefit by an increase in the minimum wage. However, you are always welcome to increase the wages wherever you employ people.
When the populace is plundered millions fall below the poverty line:

I have had real estate transactions when client attempted to purchase a short sale property or a foreclosed property and when they got in to inspect the property, the toilets and copper pipe had been ripped out!
rafflaw – you really have to double lock those puppies up. 😉
Symbolic of so many things that are being plundered from the people …

“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.” – President Dwight Eisenhower
(The Common Good – 3).
When we were looking to move we were looking at a lot of repossessed homes and one of them had everything stripped out, including the kitchen sink.
This is a common problem in Arizona where they are building homes so fast. They put the appliances in the day before the final walk thru to stop thefts.
