Egyptian Court Jails Three Journalists After Denouncing Them As Being Guided By The Devil

200px-Codex_Gigas_devilAn Egyptian court this week sentenced three al-Jazeera journalists to long jail terms despite international outcry over the attack on the freedom of the press. To further guarantee that nobody would mistake this for a real court, the judge further accused them of being guided by the devil in their work as reporters. Australian journalist Peter Greste, Egyptian-Canadian Mohamed Fadel Fahmy and Egyptian producer Baher Mohamed were convicted in June of aiding the Muslim Brotherhood by covering the “civil war” in Egypt. The court gave Greste and Fahmy seven-year terms and Mohamed a 10-year term. It also tried eleven defendants in absentia, including one Dutch and two British journalists. They were given 10-year sentences.

The Court insisted that the reporters “took advantage of the noble profession of journalism … and turned it from a profession aimed at looking for the truth to a profession aimed at falsifying the truth.” It then added that “The devil guided them to use journalism and direct it toward activities against this nation.” That “devil” work was reporting on the crackdown on the supporters of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi.

  1. Since no admin will admit of removing my post of several days ago @11.27 a.m. all of a sudden … from the clutches of WordMess … which was a reply to Paul C. Shulte … I will leave it up to you to decide who to acknowledge … for the “miracle” …

    (Thanks Spinny … 😉 )

  2. Life in Lubbock, Texas, taught me two things: One is that God loves you and you’re going to burn in hell. The other is that sex is the most awful, filthy thing on earth and you should save it for someone you love.” -Butch Hancock

    The demon took my comment again.

    Any admins who do not fear the wrath of de debil, please HELP!

    From a religious standpoint, if you believe in the concept of evil it is not a big jump to believe in the devil who controls that evil. Just as if you believe in good there is a short jump to angels, who are messengers of God, among other duties.
    So, the Devil made them do it. Not sure what kind of a defense you could build here, except to prove that you were angel driven not devil driven.
    Paul C. Schulte

    Dredd – maybe he’s the government. There was a European theologian (name escapes me) who contended that governments could be immoral or amoral, but never moral. Since this particular government is clearly both immoral and amoral, maybe it is the Devil.
    There are scriptues, which are not generally respected, which support your notions:

    You were the seal of perfection,
    full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
    13 You were in Eden,
    the garden of God;
    every precious stone adorned you:
    carnelian, chrysolite and emerald,
    topaz, onyx and jasper,
    lapis lazuli, turquoise and beryl.[b]
    Your settings and mountings[c] were made of gold;
    on the day you were created they were prepared.
    14 You were anointed as a guardian cherub,
    for so I ordained you.
    You were on the holy mount of God;
    you walked among the fiery stones.
    15 You were blameless in your ways
    from the day you were created
    till wickedness was found in you.
    16 Through your widespread trade
    you were filled with violence,
    and you sinned.
    So I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God,
    and I expelled you, guardian cherub,
    from among the fiery stones.
    17 Your heart became proud
    on account of your beauty,
    and you corrupted your wisdom
    because of your splendor.
    So I threw you to the earth;

    (Ezek. 28: 11 – 17)
    And He [Jesus] said unto them, “I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

    (Luke 18:10)
    … the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor.

    9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”

    10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan!

    (Mat 4: 8-10)
    But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

    4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

    5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.

    (2 Cor. 4: 3-5)

  5. You dont need a Devil if you have a Hitler on Earth or an Ergodan like that schmuck in Turkey.

    I do not believe that at all. It is simply difficult to remove all traces of criminal behavior when one’s twisted urges are stronger than common sense, empathy, self-control, and respect for the law. Ones like Ted Bundy simply kept killing until they were caught. Wikipedia has a long list of unidentified serial killers.

    Nick wrote “I read the BBC daily. It is about as straight as any news out there.”

    If you really compare stories, you will discover that they are pro-Muslim. Otherwise they are about as neutral as it gets.

    Paul wrote “I never thought of Ted Bundy as a fallen angel”

    Neither did I, especially given that I do not believe in angels, fallen or otherwise. My point was that he was a born killer. I firmly believe that psychopaths are born that way and that someday we will be able to test for it.

  7. Saucy, I read the BBC daily. It is about as straight as any news out there.

  8. Nixon is green w/ envy[sitting beside Satan, a horned man/animal w/ bifurcated tail] of Obama for his shredding the Constitution in a raw power grab. But Obama and Holder are equally envious of being able to jail journalists.

  9. traveling limey wrote “Al Jazeera, these days a better source of news than even the BBC”

    One lesson everyone needs to learn is that all news organizations have a bias. The WSJ is biased toward Wall Street, as is the Telegraph. The Atlantic, the Huffington Post, and CNN are biased toward LGBTs. The Guardian might as well call itself the Bolshevik Times. Fox News could more accurately describe itself as “fair and balanced, but only for Rupert Murdoch’s agenda.” And so on. The BBC is a good source for news as long as certain subjects, e.g. Islam, are ignored (its propensity for employing highly-paid child molesters and rapists is a bit disconcerting, however). If one reads a few sources, instead of just one, the biases tend to cancel out.

  10. Paul wrote “what is the difference between the Hobby Lobby suits and suits for same sex marriage? Aren’t gay believers trying to ‘foist’ their lifestyle on the rest of us?”
    mespo727272 wrote “the gay marriage decisions have their basis on the Constitution”

    Everyone needs to read the NIH study ( which found that girls with lesbian parents are much more likely to become lesbians as compared to a control group via “intergenerational transfer of sexual orientation” as it appears that “social and parental influences may influence the expression of non-heterosexual identities and/or behaviour.”

    In other words, gay marriage is not as good for society as the original thing.

    Paul wrote “I am a firm believer that evil exists and that some people are pure evil … Lucifer”

    Absolutely true, but that is not proof for Lucifer. I remember reading that Ted Bundy displayed alarmingly psychotic behavior at age two.

    1. saucy – I never thought of Ted Bundy as a fallen angel. He would have to be an angel first.
