I recently wrote on the issue of impeachment that has been reportedly so widely in the media. As I noted in the column and in prior interviews, there is no serious move toward impeachment by the Republicans and most of the impeachment talk has come from the White House and Democrats, including in fund-raising campaigns. Indeed, I was critical of the Washington Post column after one of the hearings in which I testified on executive over-reach. While the issue of impeachment was mentioned only a handful of times and usually to dismiss it as an option, the column was entitled “Republicans see One Remedy for Obama — Impeachment.” It seems that even denying impeachment as an option still constitutes discussing impeachment. Now The Hill newspaper has looked at the congressional record to see who is raising impeachment more often. The result was that Democrats raised the issue 20 times more often than Republicans, who barely uttered the “I” word.
The Hill found just 4 references to impeachment on the House and Senate floors by Republicans while finding 86 such references by Democrats.
Of course, the issue remains a cash cow for Democrats with millions being raised to fight off impeachment when the money could be just as well spent on chupacabra repellant. As of yet, President Obama has not committed an impeachable act and Speaker Boehner has steadfastly ruled out such an effort in the House.
The top three House Democratic leaders — Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.), Whip Steny Hoyer (Md.) and Assistant Democratic Leader James Clyburn (S.C.) also have all been flogging the impeachment horse. The black caucus has also been active in raising the issue, including Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee who raised it 18 times. She is followed by Georgia Rep. Hank Johnson (six times), New York Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (nine times), CBC Chairwoman and Ohio Rep. Marcia Fudge (once), California Rep. Barbara Lee (twice), New Jersey Rep. Donald Payne (once), North Carolina Rep. G.K. Butterfield (twice) and Maryland Rep. Donna Edwards (once). Other members discussing impeachment are Reps. Kurt Schrader (Ore.), Bill Pascrell (N.J.), Steven Horsford (Nev.), Luis Gutierrez (Ill.), Louise Slaughter (N.Y.), Jackie Speier (Calif.), Chris Van Hollen (Md.) and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (Fla.), the chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee.

Defending one’s arguments is find but it shouldn’t be necessary to defend one’s self from personal attack when there should be no personal attack in the first place.
Elaine, where is that video? The British one that depicts women knowing their place? Funny as heck and being seen on this very blog.
Personally, I like to think that I go after progressives regardless of their sexual identity. If I agree with them then I support them, if not then I do not hesitate to disagree. That is the cornerstone of this blog. To try to suppress speech because it supposedly attacks liberal women is just absurd. As a matter of fact, one woman commentor has been rather anti-male lately. Not sure why?

Elaine has been a target since a certain commenter started commenting, recently more have joined him and the attacks on liberal women commenters has taken a leap. I know this blog is skewering right in a big way, but that shouldn’t mean it becomes an Althouse type blog.

Something to keep in mind: there are people on this blog who insist on having the last word no matter what. At least one of them is a troller, one who says stupid stuff just to get people, especially the women, upset. When you respond, they just come back with more of the same that wasn’t worth reading the first or second time they said it. Actually, I think it’s a sign of strength to ignore the b.s.
bettykath – methinks you are raising an issue where none exists. This War on Women thing is old and tired. If you cannot defend yourselves move to another blog. Ignoring is not always a sign of strength. For Annie it is a sign she is losing the argument.
BK, The Obamas are reportedly looking for a house in Palm Springs. The man loves to golf and schmooze w/ Hollywood. They may turn conservative Palm Springs liberal. The Coachella Music Fest has introduced liberals to the beauty of Palm Springs. The Obamas living there could turn it into the Vail of the desert.

Anyone have thoughts about the measures taken by Obama to help stave off a genocide of 40k non Muslims. I think he is doing the right thing. Just trying to interject some positivity.
Democrats talking about impeachment will end after the Nov elections. Republicans talking about suing the President will end after the Nov elections.
If the Republicans pick up enough seats, they will be talking impeachment.
If I were Boerner, I’d tell them my caucus to all to go to hxll and I’d retire to a warm sunny island, oops, I sunburn easily, to a mountain ski lodge, oops, I don’t ski, to a Palm Springs golf course ala G. Ford. yep. The golf course. Makes more sense to hit and chase a little white ball than to try to herd the tea party cats.
