Colorado Attorney Charged With False Kidnapping Report

1407537406000-BeckyKeilAttorney Becky Keil made news in May after claiming to have been kidnapped. She has now been charged with making up the story and is facing one count of attempting to influence a public servant and two counts of false reporting to authorities.

In May, Keil disappeared after leaving her son’s home at around 6 a.m. Her son reported her missing around 3:30 pm after she missed various appointments. Keli was found around 5:48 pm.

Police said at the time that Keil had been kidnapped by intruders who went into Keil’s house on March 24, attacked her, and then put her in the trunk of a car. Her husband reported the kidnapping and said that she was later found in the trunk of the car parked at their house. She reportedly said that “an unknown male had pulled her out of bed, struck her in the head and then locked her in the truck of the car in the garage.”

Media reports state that Keil had suggested that Chris Wells, a man serving a life sentence for the 2011 murder-for-hire of his estranged wife Amara Wells and brother-in-law Robert Rafferty, may have been behind her kidnapping. Keil was handling Wells’ daughter’s estate issues but the Wells family apparently did not think that she doing a good job.

  1. This woman is beyond unethical. Good to see karma taking its hand on all the evil she’s created. Justice!

  2. Sounds like this woman has some serious issues beyond just criminal and ethics violations.

  3. Oh well, this pathetic schlub at least can carry an Irish Poem with her on life ‘s journey.

There once was a lawyer named Keil,
Who stayed in the trunk for a while .
    She blamed it on clients,
    Not her non – compliance
Which all will come out at the trial.
