We have yet another scandal involving an underaged student and a teacher. However, the scandal in Gretna, Louisiana is different in that it involves two teachers in an alleged ménage à trios. Shelley Dufresne, 32, and Rachel Respess, 24, are accused of having group sex with a male student at Destrehan High School, about 23 miles west of New Orleans. What was most striking to me is how, if the allegation is true, these teachers put their lives and liberty at stake for such a relationship. The teenager reportedly bragged to friends that he was having sex with not one but two teachers.
In a Kenner courthouse, the teachers face charges of carnal knowledge of a juvenile, indecent behavior with a juvenile and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
Dufresne faces the added count of carnal knowledge of having sex with the boy on another occasion at her home earlier in September. She is charged with one count of carnal knowledge of a juvenile in that incident. Dufresne is undergoing an “intensive mental health treatment.”
It is extraordinary the risk associated with such group sex crimes. Each teacher was not just relying on each other but a teenage boy to keep these crimes secret.

So two teachers allegedly have sex with a minor student in Louisiana, and the entire education system sucks? Too many women teaching because these two teachers allegedly had sex with a student.
Men get shot in bed with their neighbors’ wives. When it comes to sex, some people will throw everything away. Lust can be a cruel master. We shouldn’t all pretend that we’re cool with pornography, strip clubs, thongs, sexual immorality in general, etc. Some people lose it. My prediction is – much much more to come.

I would be more concerned if the student was 13 or younger, but kids today know exactly what’s going on (sexually speaking) at 16. We just want to pretend for as long as we can that they are still just kids.
That said; the law, as written, should be enforced. I just don’t want to pretend that these teachers ruined the 16 year old boy for life.
Jack – you would not say the same thing if it were two male teachers and a 16 year old female. The boy may or may not need counseling depending on his maturity level and how he is taking it and the reaction of his classmates at school. Kids can be incredibly cruel. He might have to change schools and change his name to finish school.

I might be a little unusual in that I did not lose my virginity until I was 24, but if this had happened to me at 16 with two of my trusted teachers, I would imagine my course in life would have been very much altered. It would have totally confused me about sexuality and the purpose of sex and marriage. I would not want this to happen to any of my children at age 16. Ruined for life is an understatement from my perspective.

I have a good sense of humor and believe that little should be taken off the table. Comedy and humor is one of our best defenses from the PC culture. But, I find no humor in teachers, in a position of authority, manipulating and sexually assaulting one of their students. I guess it’s just me!!!
There has been a steady uptick in the % of female teachers. But, since the mid 80’s the increase has grown rapidly. In 1986, 69% of teachers were female. It is now 84%. Higher than I thought. Almost half of the female teachers are under 40. So, what we have is a women’s club playing out their fantasies @ the expense of boys. Lovely, just lovely!

David, My take on this is one of the teachers really wanted lesbian sex but needed the boy to make it seem OK to the other teacher. So, the boy was a double victim in that case.
This is really unbelievable. Teachers today have no sense of their responsibility and unique role toward their students. Is it because of the overteaching of “equality”?
Seems like one teacher liked it so much, she wanted the other teacher to get in on it too. The facts that the boy was a child and their student made no difference in their minds.
I expect to see a lot more of this stuff as homosexuality and gay marriage gains the imprimatur of government.

Isaac, I was a teacher, and was appalled @ just how stupid so many are.
The teaching industry is over 70% female. When you have a male dominated profession like the Catholic priests, the unbalance creates a culture where the predatory nature is unabated. In large part, that is the same dynamic in the union public school female teachers. All systems need balance. But, while there is the appropriate outrage @ men preying on children, there is NONE when the predators are female and the victims male. When you are a free thinker you see hypocrisy clearly.
Another example of what’s wrong with teacher education and quality of teachers. How did these idiots ever get to be teachers?
If guilty, send them to super max. For a short stay. And have them teach these female inmates some manners.
