Two Louisiana Teachers Arrested For Alleged Group Sex With Teenage Boy

Teacher SexWe have yet another scandal involving an underaged student and a teacher. However, the scandal in Gretna, Louisiana is different in that it involves two teachers in an alleged ménage à trios. Shelley Dufresne, 32, and Rachel Respess, 24, are accused of having group sex with a male student at Destrehan High School, about 23 miles west of New Orleans. What was most striking to me is how, if the allegation is true, these teachers put their lives and liberty at stake for such a relationship. The teenager reportedly bragged to friends that he was having sex with not one but two teachers.

In a Kenner courthouse, the teachers face charges of carnal knowledge of a juvenile, indecent behavior with a juvenile and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

Dufresne faces the added count of carnal knowledge of having sex with the boy on another occasion at her home earlier in September. She is charged with one count of carnal knowledge of a juvenile in that incident. Dufresne is undergoing an “intensive mental health treatment.”

It is extraordinary the risk associated with such group sex crimes. Each teacher was not just relying on each other but a teenage boy to keep these crimes secret.

  1. Karen,

“I guess this blog is a good illustration of the difficulties facing male victims of female predators: many think it is no big deal or not a negative event.”

From the study (or any other research that you performed) how many of those who had sex with an adult when they were age 14 or older saw a two-fold increase in suicides, or a large increase in risk for marrying alcoholics?

I’m not saying that sexual predators aren’t a problem. What I am saying is that we don’t give 16 year olds enough credit. Sure, we’ll give them a car…the means to kill, but having sex will destroy their lives? I just don’t think that bears any fruit.

  2. Wasn’t it on this blog where a college student was being held responsible for child support for the child conceived when his teacher had sex with him when he was 17? Including child support from when the child was born and he was still a minor.

    1. bettykath – you are correct and I was very much against it. Still am. However, the kid was willing to pay it and be part of the child’s life.

  3. And, take note that there is an increased risk for violence, rape, and domination of women among these male victims of female sexual predators.

  4. And, before anyone asks, I have no idea who authored the analysis. I’m most interested in the links to studies.

I suggest you read the link above, and follow the links to the medical literature.

A two-fold increase in suicides seems to indicate that it is, indeed, a problem. There is also a large increase in risk for marrying alcoholics. And these studies also show it is different from teenagers of similar ages in a normal relationship.

  6. Here is an interesting general analysis, with links to studies, of male victims of female sexual predators. Note that there is a two-fold increased risk of suicide for male juvenile victims of female sexual predators.

There are other consequences, as well. The truly tragic part is that many victims are not believed, or authorities assume the encounter was not negative. Male victims also believe the consequences are worse for disclosure than for non-disclosure.

Actually, I totally agree with bettykath. This is a very BIG deal because of the position of authority and trust that the teachers had. They knew what they were doing was wrong, illegal and a breach of trust.

I liken them (the teachers) to the stock broker who steals money from his elderly client’s accounts. He broke the trust of his client. He stole from his client. In the case of the teachers, you might argue that what they stole could be intangible (innocence, broken trust with the community and the rest of the students as well) it is still a ‘taking’.

In both cases. The teachers and the stock broker should both go to jail.

  8. I wouldn’t go that far, David, But laws should be in more agreement with nature & not based on someone else’s pastor’s opinion or vision from God. That said, you still have to obey laws until you can change them.

  9. Yeah, point taken, Betty Kath, but it’s less of a deal than its being made into.

  10. Oh, and if you put these cuties in jail for this harmless ‘crime’ we would only be adding to some of the ridiculous statistics that make this country #1 on something other than having more arms than the next 26 nations: We have 4% of the world’s population & 25% of the world’s prisoners! That is totally insane but true! Wonder who #2 is? North Korea!

  11. traveling limey, The problem isn’t just 2 adults having sex with a 17 year old, it’s the fact that they are teachers, authority figures, supposedly people to be trusted. These women violated the trust give them by the community.

  12. Well, its 16 in Montana, where I’m working now & would not have been a crime here so there really is a lot of silliness going on countrywide where lawmakers think they are smarter than mother nature. There is a really dumb song called Jack & Diane, 2 American kids doing the best they can, etc. As a song its good but the liricks are so unreal & untrue. After telling us they are both 16, it goes onto say: Changes coming real soon, make them woman & man… Well, the average age of puberty is 11 and a half & practically every boy & girl has had those changes by 14. Years ago they had university graduates at as young as 13. ‘Priviledged classes’, yes, but perhaps we should be working on getting our kids well educated & as smart & responsible as any adult ,less the experience perhaps, by the time they are 16.

    1. limey, I’m not following your line of thinking too well. You think that because a child is biologically reproductive that they ought to immediately start having sex?

From listening to you, it sounds like the best approach here would be to have a sex education class where the teachers have sex with their students. Is that what you are suggesting?

  13. That’s just awful. If I was this boy’s mother, I would be enraged. What if he got both of them pregnant? Will they sue for child support like the other story on this blog?

These teachers betrayed the trust of parents. This does affect the male victim, who was manipulated by these women. Plus, how is this going to play out when he tries to date a girl his own age. Her parents will know who he is.

How old was he? Does anyone know?

    1. Karen – it is going to affect his dating. Some girls will not date him because of it and some girls will be hanging off him like a coat. He really needs to change his name and move schools. Why the teachers thought he would not brag about it is beyond me. He is a teen male. Of course he is going to brag about it. He has to tell someone.

  14. Let’s not let this interesting post be hijacked by the Ferguson crowd. Folks are embarrassed by this post and want to detour to an incendiary topic. Don’t take the bait. This is a real problem that has been growing exponentially. The cursory and cavalier comments about this inconvenient truth are part of the problem. Schools are not only giving boys inferior educations, they are using them as vibrators. Maybe the union should buy female teachers vibrators.

  15. Teachers have sex with willing student and lose their jobs when arrested. Cops kill unarmed kids and get paid leave during an “investigation”.

I don’t condone what the teacher did. My point is the disparity of consequences.

  16. Jack, I don’t know what the long term effects will be on this kid. Here’s what we do know. He was manipulated by women in a position of trust and authority. That certainly will have some effect. The most likely being he doing the same when put into that position of trust and authority. Not good.
