We have yet another scandal involving an underaged student and a teacher. However, the scandal in Gretna, Louisiana is different in that it involves two teachers in an alleged ménage à trios. Shelley Dufresne, 32, and Rachel Respess, 24, are accused of having group sex with a male student at Destrehan High School, about 23 miles west of New Orleans. What was most striking to me is how, if the allegation is true, these teachers put their lives and liberty at stake for such a relationship. The teenager reportedly bragged to friends that he was having sex with not one but two teachers.
In a Kenner courthouse, the teachers face charges of carnal knowledge of a juvenile, indecent behavior with a juvenile and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
Dufresne faces the added count of carnal knowledge of having sex with the boy on another occasion at her home earlier in September. She is charged with one count of carnal knowledge of a juvenile in that incident. Dufresne is undergoing an “intensive mental health treatment.”
It is extraordinary the risk associated with such group sex crimes. Each teacher was not just relying on each other but a teenage boy to keep these crimes secret.

I only have one question. Dear Lord why did you deny me this opportunity when I was 16-17?
I feel certain, having been a 16 year old boy, that he will be fine psychologically although his expectations might be a little unrealistic.
Byron – he will not be fine unless he changes schools and changes his name. The parents of any girl he might want to date are going to be suspicious. Some girls will avoid him because he is too experienced. Female teachers are going to be terrified to be in the same classroom with him and will never meet with him one on one for fear they will be dragged into a new scandal. His male classmates are going to want sex tips.
Are you sure you would want all that?

Quite the same readership as The Daily Mail here, it seems.
The Turley blog is as much about law as it is about click-bait and knee-jerk, conclusion-jumping faux social commentary. Might as well rename it to “Seems to me there is a lot of ‘THIS:_’ going around, huh, men?”

Egads!
My hubby asks to borrow my favorite church dress sometimes, I don’t know what he does with it. It worries me.
Yeah, there is too much of a pendulum swing towards homosexuality now. Marriage concessions for gays are ridiculous.
In Britain, it is estimated that more than 18% of women in the age group of these teachers have had a lesbian experience. The percentage goes down as women get older. Based upon longer experience, you would expect the trend to be the opposite, that more older women would have had time to experience lesbianism. The data show the opposite trend.
Most likely it is the indoctrination of homosexual acceptance that is driving this cultural shift in the young minds of children. Because the minds of children are more malleable and more trusting of authority, government sanction of homosexuality and homosexual marriage has led to a higher number of young girls experiencing lesbianism.
Interesting comments.
America has things arse backwards. A male “kid” over the age of 13 should have some sex with women early and often. Teachers have a duty to “Teach”. There is story line about good teachers and bad teachers.
Those who can, do.
Those who cant, teach.
Those who cant teach, teach teachers.
Now, there is nothing in there about teachers porking students and vice versa. Usually the vice terms get turned around in life. This is not like an inmate/prison guard situation. If the kid does a good job in the roll in the hay then he should get an A. We can put that sentence to rhyme. With good reason.
Its one of those things, Paul, where the lawyer in me must necessarily acknowledge the crime, but projecting myself back into the mind of my 14 year old self, a pubescent 14 year old, and looking at the pictures of the teacher, its still difficult to see the harm. Indeed, reverse that with a man and woman (I have twins, one boy, one girl) and I’ll kill the guy. Acknowledging this double standard is why the lawyer in me must acknowledge the crime and I do agree that her actions absolutely DO violate the teacher/student relationship irrespective of the statutory rape aspect.
In the meantime though, Paul, he’ll be spooling up Van Halen’s “Hot for Teacher” but seriously its still statutory rape. I see these cases with some relatively attractive females and I just can’t fathom it. There was another case where the student actually was 18 but the teacher/student relationship still triggered a felony charge despite the fact that apparently, but for the actual ceremony, the teaching aspect of the relationship was over.
Free NYC Pics – this kid is toast at the school. It is worse where the student is in their class so the grade in on the hook, so it also becomes prostitution.
Paul – I don’t know. That woman on the left could probably deliver, “Out, damn spot!” And I can never remember the secondary characters’ names.
But for anyone reading the thread who has that instinctive reaction that the guy scored it big, read my link above.
What’s particularly heartbreaking is one of the interviews from a male victim when he’s grown up. He talked about how women can embrace being a victim. They have support groups and foundations. They get applauded for their courage. Men can’t be victims. They’re not allowed. And women are seen as good and men as bad, the perpetrators of violence. So how can he be a man and a victim and good?
Sad. My heart break for how he must have felt as a child.
Karen – I agree that the school owes him counseling, on his own terms, when he is ready, not maybe now, but down the road.
Doesn’t sound like the kid was forced….so what’s the problem?
John – the problem is the kid is underage and male or female it is illegal.
Happypappies: I think the phrase “pork em if ya gottem” is a North County saying.
Barkin Dog fraid your right again woof woof
Someone above in a comment referred to Ferguson. Ahemmm. Where do you think my high school was right next door to back when I was a human in a prior life and was teacher’s pet with the former hooker who was a looker? But, if there are any out there who went to Ferguson-Florissant schools then you will know that they were first rate in education. And, of course not all education is found in books. Now, if you carry your teacher’s books then you have a leg up. If you know what I mean, jelly bean.
I was Jealous cause I actually went to Riverview and I aspired to go to Ferguson/Florissant. We lived there finally when I married My Vietnam Vet Hubby. lol Who went to Hazelwood Central and had said affair with said teacher after said leading role in “Pajama Game” But, like I said, this happened all the time back then. idk. Men and women. Male teachers would end up marrying young women. idk. ………
happypappies – loved Pajama Game. My parents started my first wage based on that show, 7 1/2 cents an hour I was 10 at the time and happy to get it.

Sounds like fun. I still have yet to figure out smiley but here 🙂
happypappies – sometimes we learn by accident. BTW, I earned more money at 7 1/2 cents an hour than I did at my old allowance. And was prouder of the money.

I think you are a Philosopher teacher. That is not to say a Philosophy teacher.
Because you are too unique. I don’t respect many people but you have my respect.
Paul – seems I figured smiley out inadvertently lolol 🙂
Barkin Dog – you do see I have those little dogs on leases now. But they are leading me around lolol
I do not see anything terribly wrong with a teacher having an affair with a student. Now did they grade him in a subject which they taught? That is different. Back when I was a human in a prior life I worked at a cathouse cleaning up the rooms in East Saint Louis. I worked the bar next door too. As a juvenile. In my senior year of high school, I am parking my car the first day of school and who shows up in a car and parks nearby but one of my co workers at the cathouse. She had graduated from SIU and was there at this North County high school (name with held) to start her first job as a teacher. She made me promise I would not tell about her past and I thence carried her books. When you carried a teacher’s books you were their pet. One thing led to another and yet neither of us ratted out the other’s past or present activities. She was a good teacher and stayed on for years. We both would have been embarrassed about where we had worked over on the East Side. We are not embarrassed now. At least I am not. I would like to be her guide dog now.
Barkin Dog – I am from that area and I believe you. We are more accepting of our animalistic human foibles than others – but then – look where we come from lol. Look what must have been in the water lolololol
David described the teachers as having a homosexual relationship. I disagree. The three of them were having a menage a trois.
I repeat: I don’t condone what the teachers did. They committed statutory rape and they violated the trust of the community in so doing. But tying this to the acceptance of the sexuality of various family and friends is a stretch.
Homosexuality has been around at least as long as menage a trois and vice versa. The nature of menage a trois does seem to include two people of the same gender getting it on, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that they are homosexual. Although menage a trois could be the two of the same gender on get it on with the one of the other gender and not with each other. I’ve not had the experience one way or the other, just looking at the possibilities.

I guess you skipped over the details from the source article.
“While Respess was having intercourse with him, Dufresne ‘began intimately kissing (Respess) in an attempt to arouse all parties involved, all who were complete(ly) disrobed.’ ”
Sexuality is not binary, either homosexual or heterosexual. The idea of this binary sexuality is one of the lies of the homosexual agenda to mislead people into thinking some people are born homosexual. Sexuality is a continuum.
The point is that when government sanctions homosexuality, heterosexuals are sent the message that all kinds of sexual experimentation is good. That is why lesbianism is on the rise. A recent study shows women experience lesbianism four times more than they did 20 years ago.
It is foolish to think that in the name of homosexual equality we can abolish an institution that has existed for thousands of years, and there will be no ill effects from it. Sexuality is one of the most powerful biological forces, stronger than hunger. Unleashing it from the discipline of a rational mind is a dangerous prospect.
happy, Thanks for the lead on the book.
