We have yet another scandal involving an underaged student and a teacher. However, the scandal in Gretna, Louisiana is different in that it involves two teachers in an alleged ménage à trios. Shelley Dufresne, 32, and Rachel Respess, 24, are accused of having group sex with a male student at Destrehan High School, about 23 miles west of New Orleans. What was most striking to me is how, if the allegation is true, these teachers put their lives and liberty at stake for such a relationship. The teenager reportedly bragged to friends that he was having sex with not one but two teachers.
In a Kenner courthouse, the teachers face charges of carnal knowledge of a juvenile, indecent behavior with a juvenile and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
Dufresne faces the added count of carnal knowledge of having sex with the boy on another occasion at her home earlier in September. She is charged with one count of carnal knowledge of a juvenile in that incident. Dufresne is undergoing an “intensive mental health treatment.”
It is extraordinary the risk associated with such group sex crimes. Each teacher was not just relying on each other but a teenage boy to keep these crimes secret.

You can manage a troy in English. You can ménage a trois in frog.
Paul “Nit Pick” Schulte. If you don’t cut back on the micromanaging, I will address you as “Nit Pick” or Barack.
Nick – you need to lighten up. I know it is the play-offs and things are tense but don’t take it out on me. There are at least 10 Shakespeare females who would foot the bill much better than Lady MacBeth. 🙂
I use the word Incest to make a point even though it isn’t strictly accurate
“Does abuse of authority only make it worse, or is that the real crime?”
Both. It is a crime for adults to have sex with a minor, whether there is consent or not.. The abuse of authority is what makes it really heinous. Using your position of authority to take advantage of a younger vulnerable person. There is no excuse for that. None.

Dust Bunny Queen – It’s as if they take the Authority Block out and pretend it doesn’t exist
Really good point
Old George, This is not Romeo and Juliet. It is Romeo and the very manipulative Lady Macbeth. Big difference. I understand the lighthearted comments. But, as Karen said, if this was your son you would see it much more clearly and seriously. Everyone gets upset, rightfully so, when priest do the same thing as these women, betray a trust. IT IS NO DIFFERENT.
Nick – actually Lady MacBeth would be too old. You would have to pick two of the females from the comedies.
Of course, Nick, abuse of authority –regardless of position — is properly described as heinous. But had it been two neighbors, what then?
Does abuse of authority only make it worse, or is that the real crime?
Nick – Comment I left earlier about Tampa book to you – I was not kidding – I have someone very close to me abused in this way and he is still a child emotionally even though he is my age. As you said, it is not any different. Emotional Incest is a crime
Is there magic that happens upon turning 16 (in some states) or 17?
Perhaps a sliding scale (no,not what you were anticipating) of penalty. I mean really, our Romeo and Juliet (being law abiders) arrange for their mutual viriginities to disappear at 12:01. A policeman happens by and notes the time as 11:59 (R & J had a fast watch). How guilty is he? Not near as much as with a 12 year old.
Pete, maybe a videographer?
do they need a fourth?
David, Menage a trois has been around for a verrrrry long time. That’s what these three were up to. It’s nothing new.
bettykath, not this kind. Are you trying to tell me that your teachers invited you to one of these or that you had friends in school participating with teachers like this? Lawrence v. Texas in 2003 opened up the path for this.
bettykath – you don’t do it with a minor.
Karen, I think you’re right. Now I remember thinking it was clearly statutory rape, no equivocation.
bettykath – wasn’t he 14 at the time for the child support case?
Hey, Tom Blanton…did we attend the same schools? Poppa India went to one of them as well.
Worst case…my grade school teachers who wore lace up black leather shoe/boots. And smelled like Lilac bushes.
Where were all these hot babe teachers when I was a kid?
When I was in high school, you’d be lucky to get a three-way going with a fat 50 something alkie home-ec substitute and the girl’s gym coach that looked like a dude.
Kids today get all the breaks. They don’t have to walk a mile uphill each way to school and they don’t have to clean a ton of seeds out of their weed.
Tom Blanton – there was a hot first year biology teacher when I was a sophomore and I used every excuse I could to go by her room. 🙂 I didn’t find any of the rest interesting. Had I been a little older there was a lit teacher who had potential. 😉
I was hoping to get the thoughts of our resident, female, union teacher, Elaine Magliaro.
David, Wow! That has to be close to 200 female teachers preying on children, THAT WE KNOW OF!! Thanks.
You know that’s the only reason they go to school for it. Reading romance novels like this one fulfill it – http://www.mandyboles.com/2013/07/book-review-tampa-by-alissa-nutting/ Celeste’s devotion lies elsewhere. She has a singular sexual obsession—fourteen-year-old boys. Celeste pursues her craving with sociopathic meticulousness and forethought; her sole purpose in becoming a teacher is to fulfill her passion and provide her access to her compulsion. As the novel opens, fall semester at Jefferson Jr. High is beginning.
Superb thread!
That young blond woman’s eye’s were burning holes into the film weren’t they? And the other one just looked like she did what the other one said. Of course the kid bragged about it. Ridiculous. I hate to say it but this is commonplace. It was when I went to school also. They should be fired and everyone should calm down.
Wait. I take it back. David DID say such a thing. And I agree the blame for these depraved teachers lies directly at themselves and not at the gay agenda.
I also place the blame on the general decay of moral standard in American Society in pretty much all aspects of our culture.
“how about anyone call out David for blaming the sexual misbehavior of these teachers on homosexuality and marriage equality? ”
I might consider doing that, if he had done any such thing. He did not.
His statements were a personal take on HE might feel confused if such a thing happened to him.
Good try in deflecting the conversation though.
Forget people trying to tie this to Ferguson, how about anyone call out David for blaming the sexual misbehavior of these teachers on homosexuality and marriage equality?
As if the reason we have these crimes is because the heterosexual teachers are somehow forced into heterosexual sex by some secret cabal of gays. Instead of blaming the people for the crime, some feel the need to use any abuse as an excuse to attack homosexuals, even though most of this abuse is carried out by males against females.
The sexual abuse of children is a problem that has plagued our society for all of its history, To blame the gays, or the expansion of civil rights as the problem is ignorant at best. These women abused this kid because they were selfish and in a position to exercise power over a child. This has absolutely nothing to do with homosexuality or gay marriage.
While we are at it, let’s blame the gays for other things that have nothing to do with them like slavery, or genocide, or Benghazi. I’m sure we can blame all of the evils of the world on the gays if we don’t mind looking like a bigot in public.
Daniel Frankovitch wrote: “These women abused this kid because they were selfish and in a position to exercise power over a child. This has absolutely nothing to do with homosexuality or gay marriage.”
Homosexuality is about an expansion of the philosophy of hedonism with sexuality being paramount. Gay marriage is about the destruction of a long established institution as the best way for two people to express their sexuality and create a family. Together, they create the kind of climate about sexuality that encourages two female teachers to have sex with each other along with one of their students. If you cannot comprehend the hedonistic elements in homosexuality, surely you can at least acknowledge that two women having sex together, even if it includes a young child with them, is homosexuality. Therefore, it is inappropriate for you to claim that it has “absolutely nothing” to do with homosexuality.
These issues are on the rise and correlated with the acceptance of homosexuality and the embrace of gay marriage. The correlation is not surprising in the least.
