Nigerian Islamic Militants Reportedly Torch Over 180 Churches

220px-Lewes_Bonfire,_discarded_torchThe Islamic group Boko Haram has a new outrage to its credit. According to Reverend Gideon Obasogie, the director of Catholic Social Communication of Maiduguri Diocese in Borno State, the group has burned down over 180 churches in the West African country. It appears that the group views Islam as allowing for no other form of faith.

Obasogie said Boko Haram fighters have been “ransacking and torching” churches while forcing priests and congregants to flee.

Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has been criticised for his inaction against the terror group which seeks to expand its “caliphate” in north-eastern Nigeria. It previously attracted global condemnation for its kidnapping of more than 200 schoolgirls to be handed over to fighters as Muslim wives.

  1. If there are billions misguided people in the world , who follow the same religion , who have failed to make any serious contribution to any field of human advancement over the last few hundreds of years , but have caused serious damage to world peace , then one has to say that there is some role that their religion is playing in it , unless people think that their religion is impotent !

    1. Mr. Spumoni – you seem to be having a gender crisis. There is counseling for that.

  2. The Ebola victim almost certainly would have lived if he wasn’t in Rick Perry’s Texas.

  3. I see Ebola Man died in Texas. He should have gone to Canada where they have single payer and much better medicine.

  4. Ben Affleck thinks you’re all RAAAACISTS!! So hopefully you’re properly chastised. Hell, even the saintly Pope has given his blessing to kill these terrorists under the righteous war doctrine. So Ben thinks the Pope a racist as well.

Either the Roman governor of Judea gives Jesus to the cruxificion or he will face immediate sacking of Judea by the Roman army. The Jews actually called out Jesus and wanted him crucified. So who’s really responsible? The Jews because of their finger pointing! They chose Barabas instead, a murderer who has killed people.

Frankly, Pilates was giving them a choice: either Jesus or Barabas. The insane ramblings of the Jews at the time were not logical today. Murder is still murder and that crime has to be paid in favor with jail sentences or the death penalty. Not an immediate release for someone else who’s put on “trial”, even though it was not due process at the time.

The Jews were swiftly punished by the Roman army in 70AD, with Titus the general laying seige to Jerusalem and eliminating the Zealots and rebellious Jews. You get what’s coming to you and that’s what the Jews got in favor of choosing Barabas.

    1. Pilate gave them a choice because he felt force into the decision. He was hoping they would select Jesus and let him off the hook ethically. That is why he washed his hands of the matter, both literally and figuratively.

  6. Charlie,

It’s people in collective form, and religion is a collective form.

Collectively, we can accomplish good things and bad things. Civilization. At times, the good things and bad things are the same things from different points of view. Clash of civilizations.

Religion isn’t the only collective form. I view Qutbist Islamists as a totalitarian, Marxist revolutionary hybrid. Compare their efforts to Mao’s Cultural Revolution and related. Different look and sound, but similar substance.

  7. What some seem to overlook is that this is not religion but government doing these atrocities in the name of religion. Some people claim the Jews killed Jesus, but it was the Roman government who killed him. Without government, the religious zealots have no real power.

  8. Add: American soldiers have fought side-by-side with Muslims against the terrorists.

  9. Max-1,

Our approach to the War on Terror has purposefully and distinctly not blamed all Islam for the Qutbist terrorists.

Your comment I quoted above exemplifies the bigotry against Islam.
Focus your hate against those that do bad. Like BH or ISIL.
But to disparage billions of people speeks of a personal Caliphate against Islam.

Where does that level of hate come from.
Who taught you how to hate?

  11. Dredd,
It’s never when it’s American fundies spreading their hate to the American consumer of propaganda and greed…

  12. Eric
Who was it that blamed an entire faith for the acts of a few?

Now, who’s imitating this meme that ended with millions dead?

  13. Nigeria is a Pirate Territory. They don’t need no churches down there. The less religion the better. They don’t need no guys on the internet scamming people either.

  14. Max-1: “Reichstag”

The past teaches us that American leadership was needed to stop the Nazis, and it follows that American leadership is needed to stop this enemy, too.
