Not So Fast: Obama Administration Waits Until Election Eve To Dump Over 64,000 Pages In Fast and Furious Operation

holdereric260px-capitol_building_full_viewThe Justice Department has previously been held in contempt by Congress and hit with increasingly tough court orders from a federal judge over its obstruction of efforts to secure evidence in the notorious Fast and Furious operation. Many have accused Attorney General Eric Holder of acting blatantly political in withholding documents to protect Democrats from backlash before the elections. As if to prove that view, the Justice Department waited until late on election eve to finally dump more than 64,000 pages of documents congressional lawmakers have been seeking for years. The timing was almost taunting in its impact. Guaranteeing that the content could not be viewed before people voted, the Obama Administration’s long obstruction resulted in this troubling image of a politically timed release. The Administration previously admitted that it would not discuss its plans for unilateral immigration action until after voters had gone home from the polls.

The election eve dump to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee involved 64,280 pages withheld for years by the Obama Administration.

The Justice Department has made a series of statements about the operation that proved false and Holder has been personally accused of false statements.

The document dump contains heavily redacted copies which will likely continue the fight over the right of the oversight committee to review the evidence in the operation.

  1. DBQ is another strong woman who would NEVER allow men to swoop in and defend her. She would slap that paternalistic dude upside the head and end it right there. My wife is the same way, as is my daughter. REAL feminists. SWM always stays away from this type drama, she can handle herself. There are other interesting posts, but the saboteurs just hijack a thread and turn it into grammar school. They have no comments or empathy for the black woman kidnapped and found. Curious.

  2. Make that interstate instead of internet. However, I’m sure you get the gist.
    Grow up people!

  3. You, like Paul earlier, are trying to rewrite what you have done on RIL to female commenters,

I haven’t been looking at this blog for the length of time that all
y’all seem to have been. However, I can tell you that I don’t give a flying rat’s patooty about all the ‘history’ or what happened in the past. I don’t care about all the juvenile junior high he said she said bs. I don’t care if some of the club members got their lady parts or male parts in a wringer and took their toys over to a new playground to avoid having to play with the icky kids. I don’t care if some meany old guy has been treating the poor wimmens unfairly. Buck up and deal with it if that is the case. WHO CARES.

What I do care about and what I DO observe is how people act in the here and now. People who cannot make logical arguments, refuse to stay on topic and insist on trying to drum up drama and get people to take sides….tiresome and easily avoided. Like background clutter or the drone of the big rigs on the internet outside of your window on a warm summer night. Ignorable. I thought that adults could have left all this back in junior high or even elementary school.

Civil conversations with real interests in the topic and not just wanting to count coup for your political ideology…intellectual sparing is interesting. Back and forth tit for tat is not. Accuracy counts. We might actually learn something from each other.

  4. Squeeky,

Check out the various and sundry topics that JT–as well as his guest bloggers–have written about over the years.

BTW, over at the other blog, we do what we guest bloggers do/did at RIL: Choose/chose our own topics. If you want someone to write a blog post about the overall election results, do it yourself. It’s easy to set up a blog. I did it three times.

  5. @swm

Seekers of truth also need to be thinkers of new thoughts, or they will never find any truth at all. They will just wander around in circles mumbling the same old drivel.

  6. one is “not a number, it is one, 1, uno, singular. And you taught children!! You lied. All can see it.

  7. I used Professor Irwin Corey. I made it CLEAR I was using it. I used it maybe 3 times in one day. It was lighthearted, A “Number of sockpuppets”: is a venomous lie. I had lies spewed about me last night by a current weekend blogger for which he was admonished, and now LIES spewed about me by a former weekend blogger who comes here w/ NO substance. We get it, you folks don’t like this blog now, or people who express non liberal views. Well, TOUGH! This is not an echo chamber. There are plenty out there.

  8. Nobodies’ sockpuppets should ever have been revealed, it was a violation of the privacy rules and that is why it was deleted by JT.

  9. I don’t like Eric Holder. I think he’s been a terrible Attorney General. Darrell Issa is a politician for whom I have no respect. Check out his background.
